Chapter 19

Emma pov

"Kyleigh?" I had asked. "Hello Emma." She spat my name out. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "Same as you. fighting for my cause. Except I'm fighting for the winning side." She answered. "Emma how do you know her?" Percy asked, turning to me. "I'll tell you later." I whispered back, still glaring at Kyleigh. "Oh so you still haven't told them? Why would you want to keep it a secret, Emma?" She said smugly. "Emma what is she talking about?" Nico asked me. "Nothing, I'll talk to you guys later." I answered, not looking at him. "Emma, Emma Emma." She said, shaking her head, "It's not good to keep secrets you know." Now I was getting mad. "Look who's talking Kyleigh." I spat her name out as I talked. "I had no choice for that." "Whatever. You know you did. THey never would have died if you had at least told us. Or, better idea, you had run away." As we talked I saw the archers slowly surrounding the monster army plus some of the fighters were making their way to the back of the monster army. "You have no idea what happened." She said, not realizing they were getting surrounded. "Yes I do. You betrayed everyone and because of you he died." "I didn't want them to die! They meant everything to me!" She had started yelling. "And they meant everything and more to me!" I yelled back. "Did your other parents mean everything to you?" She asked, no longer yelling. "Of course why would you ask.." I trailed off, slowly realizing what she meant. "That was your fault too. You killed them." I said. "Why yes I did." She answered, smugly. It wasn't what she said that made me snap. It was how she said it. She said it like they didn't matter. She said it like they were just another task for her. She said it like she doesn't care how many people she kills and who she hurts in the process, and that's the problem. She doesn't. I lunged forward and the demigod army took that as their signal. The archers on the side started firing arrows into the monster army while the people behind the army charged in at the same time as the demigods behind me. I plowed through the monsters, killing everything in my sight. I fought my way towards Kyleigh. I want to strangle her so much. I finally made it to where she was standing. I was seething with rage. "You killed my family. Both times. You will pay." I stated. "Oh boo hoo. Is Emmy mad?" She mocked, using her old nickname for me. That made me snap even more. My vision turned red and I lunged. I didn't know what I was doing but a few minutes later my vision cleared. I looked around and saw that all the monsters were dead and Tartarus, Gaei, Kronos, and Nyx had left. I was holding Kyleigh by the neck and she wasn't touching the ground. "Emma don't. Just let her go." I heard in my head. I still held onto her. "Come on kill me." She taunted. "Emma this isn't you." Nico said, again in my head. "I know." i MM'd back. I opened my hand and Kyleigh fell to the ground. She got back up. "Pathetic. You never did have the guts to do anything fun." She taunted. "Just leave or I will kill you." I said. With that a black portal opened and she walked through. I sank to my knees once the portal had closed and started crying. I felt someone come over and wrap their arms around me. "Shh it's okay Em. She's gone. You're okay." A soothing voice whispered in my ear. It took me a minute to realize it was Nico. I leaned into his chest and continued to cry. Eventually I passed out.

Nico pov

We defeated all the monsters and now were watching Emma fight Kyleigh. No one has any idea who Kyleigh is but we all want to know what connection she has to Emma, Who she killed that was dear to both of them and why she said that Emma has a secret. I realized I had zoned out and looked up again. Emma was just coming out of her trance and was looking around. She realized she had Kyleigh by the throat but she didn't let go. If she kills Kyleigh I know she will feel guilt for the rest of her life. "Emma don't. Just let her go." I said in her head. She didn't do anything and just stared at Kyleigh. I could tell Kyleigh said something but I couldn't hear what. "Emma this isn't you." I said again. This time she answered me "I know." I watched as she let go of kyleigh. They each said something, and then a portal opened and Kyleigh walked through. Emma collapsed onto the ground as the portal closed. I jogged over to her and sat down. I wrapped my arms around her and whispered. "Shh it's okay. She's gone. You're okay." She leaned into my chest and continued to cry. Slowly everyone walked away to go back to their activities until it was just me and Emma. Eventually I realised she had stopped crying and looked down to see her passed out. I let out a small chuckle and picked her up. I brought her to her cabin and laid her down on her bed. I tucked her down and was about to leave. I turned back around and kissed her forehead. "Sweet dreams Em" I walked out and left to go find Emily and Percy. I found them in the arena. They were both hacking at the dummies the camp had. "Shouldn't we leave some dummies for the rest of the campers?" I asked as I walked in. They both turned around. "How's Emma?" Emily asked. "She's okay I guess. she cried herself to sleep so I brought her to her cabin." I answered. "What do you think that girl, Kyleigh, was talking about?" Percy asked. "What part?" I asked him. "About not telling us something." he answered. "I'm not sure. But it must be from her first life cause you guys have never seen her before right?" I asked them. "Right." Emily confirmed. "Who do you think they were talking about when they said she had killed someone." I asked. "The second time it was her parents from this life." Percy started. "But the first time we have no idea." Emily finished. We went silent, and we stayed silent. Until a scream filled the air. We all looked at each other. "Emma." We all said in unison. At the same time we all turned and sprinted to the Hecate cabin. As we ran the campers stared at us. We all ignored them and kept running. I was the first to get there and I threw open the door. Emma was the only one in there and she was asleep. We were about to leave when Emma started yelling. "NO NO PLEASE COME BACK!" She shouted "WAKE UP!" She yelled again

Emma pov

I felt someone pick me up and for a moment i was scared till i realized it was Nico. He brought me to my cabin and laid me down. I felt him kiss my forehead and say, "Sweet dreams Em." I smiled to myself as he left and I fell back asleep.

Dream

I was 14 and in my first life. I was in the camp van, on my way home to visit my family. I hadn't seen them in a year. We got to the apartment and I got out of the car. I walked inside and got in the elevator, pressing the button that said 6 as the doors closed. I waited for a couple minutes until the elevator dinged and the doors opened. I got out and walked down the hall to our apartment. I knocked on the door but it was already open. That's weird because my dad never leaves the door open. I walked in. "Dad?" I yelled. No answer. "Luke?" I called for my brother. Still no answer. They were supposed to be home today. Then as I walked down the hall towards the living room I saw blood. I walked faster. As I got closer to the living room there was more blood. The room came into my sight and I froze. My father and twin brother were both lying on the ground next to them, My step mom was also on the ground. Their throats were slit open and they had cuts all over their bodies. "No" I whispered. I slowly walked over and knelt next to them. I caressed my dead twin's face with my fingers. "NO!" I yelled, "NO PLEASE COME BACK! WAKE UP!" but they didn't wake up. They were gone. They're really gone. "No please." I whispered. I looked up and saw a symbol burned into the wall. It was a circle with two scythes crossing each other. It was Kronos' symbol. But that wasn't what made me mad. There was another symbol next to it. It was much smaller but it was even more significant. It was a star with a single rose in it. The symbol made my blood boil. That symbol was one that I had known all my life. That symbol was of someone I trusted. That symbol was my sister's symbol. My sister had killed my family. She wasn't my sister anymore. She was my enemy. She would pay for what she did. As I stared at her symbol I heard a laugh. I turned around and saw her. "Pathetic." She said. Then her voice changed to Nico's voice. "Emma wake up. Please you're scaring us."

Dream over

I forced myself out of my dream. I opened my eyes and sat up. I saw Nico, Percy, Emily, and the seven all staring at me with confusion and concern in their eyes. "What?" I asked. "Em you were shouting things in your sleep." Percy answered. I felt myself go pale. "Like what?" I asked, trying to keep the terror out of my voice. "You shouted. 'No no please some back. And wake up." Hazel said. I felt myself pale even more as I remembered what I had dreamed about. I felt tears fall down my cheeks as I pulled my knees up to my chest. "Emma whats wrong?" Nico asked as he sat down next to me. He tried to put an arm around me but I flinched and he stopped. I saw a look of confusion cross his face, followed by a look of hurt. "Sorry." I mm'd him "It's fine. But what's wrong." He asked. "N-nothing. Just an old memory." i answered "That wasn't nothing" He said, "They are going to want answers about what Kyleigh was talking about." He finished. "Hey when you guys are done staring at each other we would like to know what you guys are talking about." Percy said in our heads. We refocused and realized we were staring at each other and everyone was staring at us. "Sorry." Nico said. "It's fine but what was that?" Annabeth. "Can we not tell them about this?" Emily asked. "Sure." I answered. "I guess." Nico areed. Percy stayed silent. "Percy.." I threatened. "Not even Annabeth?" He whined. "Especially not her." Emily answered. "Fine.." he grumbled. "It was nothing." I said out loud. "It was something." Piper said in a sing-song voice. "Agreed." Emily said. "Definitely." Percy agreed. I looked at Nico and saw he was just as confused as I was. Apparently the seven were not confused and knew what she was saying. "Piper inner aphrodite showing." Jason said. Piper shook her head. "Right priorities." "Now What was Kyleigh talking about and why were you screaming things like that?" Annabeth asked. I looked around at all the hopeful faces. I sighed. "In my first life I had a twin brother, my dad, a step mom, and a sister. Somehow my brother didn't get any of the demigod blood. When i was eight i ran away from home. When I was ten a satyr found me and brought me to camp half blood. I was claimed by Hecate at age 12. When I was 13 I went and visited my family. I was happy to see everyone but my sister was a little bit distant. She didn't talk much and if you touched her she would flinch. She was always locked in her room unless we were eating a meal. I had to get back to CHB after a week. I didn't see my family again until I was 14. I had a day off and was going to visit them.

The camp van dropped me off at our apartment building and I walked to my apartment. The door was slightly open and I got a little concerned. I called for my brother and my dad but no one answered me. I walked down the hallway and started seeing blood. I got to the living room and saw my father, brother, and Step mother lying on the ground, covered in their own blood. Their throats were slit open and they had cuts all over their body. I begged for them to wake up but they never did. I looked up and saw Kronos' symbol burned into the wall." I looked up from watching my hands. Piper, Hazel, and Annabeth all looked horrified and had their hands over their mouths. Leo, Jason, and Frank all looked like they were about to throw up. Percy, Emily, and Nico were the only ones that looked like they actually cared. They each looked concerned and sad. I realized I had tears falling down my cheeks and pulled my knees back up to my chest, before continuing my story. "I didn't care about Kronos' symbol though. It was the other symbol that made me mad. That symbol I had known all of my life. That symbol was the symbol of a person I had trusted and loved. That symbol cost me a sister. Because it was my sister's symbol. My sister had betrayed us all. My sister killed my family. And my sister would pay. Two years later i had just found out where my sister was and was going to her so i could make her pay when Zues appeared. I made him mad. We dueled. I won and I got sent to Tartarus. For years I had worked to block the image of my family's dead bodys from my mind. And it worked. Until I was killed and the blocking disappeared. I never saw my family in the underworld. When i was brought to life i forgot my old life so i didn't have to worry about it. Until i was 15. I would have nightmares but they would always be blurry. It was always the same nightmare though there was always one thing that wasn't blurry. It was a star with a single rose in it." I paused again. "I didn't know it at the time but that was my sister's symbol. When I gained my memory I started having the nightmare. It felt like I was 14 again. You three didn't hear me screaming because i had soundproofed my room." I said turning to Percy, Nico, and Emily. "After about 1 earth year I managed to block it out again. Then seeing Kyleigh triggered it." I stopped. "Why would seeing Kyleigh trigger it?" Piper asked. I waited knowing someone would figure it out. "Because Kyleigh is your sister." Annabeth stated. "Yes Kyleigh is my sister."
