Diva could not stop the tears that now formed in her eyes. She had never heard this side of the story. This side where her pain was incomparable to her father's.
She had lost a mother, a mother she knew for only seventeen years, but these were people that had been with her, years before she, herself, was born. Her mother was her father's love, his betrothed, the wife of his youth and the pride of his life, she was there as a strengthener of their bond. Seeing the body of the woman he loved so much in an ugly state was unbearable. And just because she has not seen him cry over her mother's death did not mean that he was not hurting.
Her grandmother and uncle were unexplainable. They have been with her right from her childhood, especially her grandmother that gave birth to her. She felt the surpassing pain of losing a child and burying her as well. She was indeed selfish and self-centered. Instead of being there for her father now, and trying to remind him of the good things of life, she was mourning and wallowing herself in the tragedy of life where the pain was unending.
She held onto the armrest as tight as she could. Pouring heart out in the tears that flowed down her cheeks. Her heart ached and she shook tremendously, accepting the handky from the man she just discovered to be her maternal uncle, to wipe her tears. That she have seen a sibling of her mother, thinking all these years that her mom was the only child, increased the ache.
She retreated to blowing her nose into the handky, using a sleeve as a napkin to wipe her tears
Mr. Edward looked at his pained niece with tightened heart and clenched fists. Her father had told him not to tell her, to not make her feel guilty, but watching the outburst between her and Fred via the CCTV footage of the outside camera made him feel the need to let her know. To alert her of the number of people that were hurting as well as those that were shattered by her panic attacks.
' I need you to know that your father loves you, more than anything in the world. He cares for you more than you know. And those times when you get enclosed and refuse to talk to anyone he feels it. The hurt, he feels it. To be a parent and not able to do something for your child is painful. And after calming you down when you permit him to, he goes to his closet too to let everything go. Your father is strong, but you, you, and your mother are his weakness. He cannot afford to lose you after losing your mother. Diva, he needs you. Sophia, he needs you the way you need you. You both should help each other now that your mother is not here to do the comforting '.
And for Diva it was the second time she was hearing it in one night. Her father needs her and she has been caring for herself alone, she scolded herself. She has to sit up and stop those attacks. Her friendship with Dawin suffered too because of that. Where she had rejected to see him severally because she was mourning.
She threw her head backward and faced the ceiling, sniffing and blinking away the tears. She was no more crying. Things, she knew had to change.
" Drive me home ". She uttered.
Mr. Edward looked at her with concern. And since he started to look at her, he noticed only now, a change in her demeanor and aura. And when he did open his mouth to speak again, she interrupted.
" Drive me home, I said ". Diva said again, fixing her eyes on him now.
