  My mind is still reeling from what I just heard that the rest of the argument passes over my head, my mind is brought back to the present when Snake's ring tone slices through the air and through my thoughts.

  "I told you the drug bust was not the only card I had to play." John's smug voice reached my ears.

I take that as my cue to leave. Crawling back to where Seth was perched so close to the wall, if not for my heightened vision I would not have seen him. Nodding in the direction of the car, we slither into the darkness together.

  "Why did you leave me back there?" he asks as soon as we sit back in the car.

"I came alone, I act alone." I say distractedly.

My ears perk up to hear the remaining pieces of the conversation. What I do hear is Snake's annoyed shriek. Apparently, the arm dealing had gone wrong because he was about to scam his buyer and John ousted him.
