"Make sure no one goes in or out. The doctor is not even allowed to go out after we leave." Erin instructed.

"You." He called out to one of them.

"Yes, you. Go inside and stay there. By the window. Till tomorrow. If you hear or see anything unusual, call M. Is that clear?"

Erin might be that very laidback teen that hates violence and loathes responsibilities, but when it comes down to helping me, he was there to do anything.

He steers me out of the building and towards his parents den.

"That guy has to be the most infuriating person on the planet. I believe with all of my heart that he is more than crazy." I tell Erin as soon as we are out of earshot.

"You sound like the crazy person here actually."

I scoff, bringing my hand to my chest to point at myself.

"Me?"

I turn in time to see him nod.

"He is in coma.." One look at my face and he cleared his throat.

"He is allegedly in coma. Everyone there believes the doctor over you, since he is after all an expert in this field."

I know I must have sounded crazy.

"You have to believe me though. He pulled off the needles from his veins." I start.

Erin stopped walking.

"He told me he was not in a coma because they could not kill him. He said he stopped struggling with the rogues and they assumed he was dead, and they left."

He looked deep in thought.

"I thought the time they used to suffocate him was too short, the fact that he is a human made me think it was possible."

Oh, wow. I did not even notice that.

"Anyhow. He said he wants to find whoever did it to him. And that the only person he trusts is me."

Erin cocked his head to right, as if trying to study me.

"I shunned that thought immediately of course. He can't help us, he will die at their hands or we will be forced to babysit him." I continue, fighting the blush that threatened to rise to my face again at the mention of the human needing me.

"So why is he still pretending to be in a coma?"

I blink. I didn't think of that.

"I don't know."

"The better question should be, why did he pretend to be in a coma instead of trying to kill whoever that suffocated him? Trying to find them with us, when he had a better chance at killing them off himself."

My head swam.

"Those are questions I didn't think to ask." I admit.

"Yeah, you don't think to ask them when you are blushing and your hormones go haywire." He shrugged.

I blush again.

"Hey! It happened for like five seconds okay?"

"What? What happened?" his eyes wide as he scanned me for information. I laugh.

"The blushing. He said he needed me and Grace practically melted at his feet." I roll my eyes for good measure. He had to know all of that happened without my consent.

Erin nodded like he understood.

"Let's go ask him the original questions that were supposed to be asked." He mocked me.

When I open my mouth to answer, I hear someone shout my name. The voice was coming from the council meeting room, not the hospital. The voice sounded panicked.

I share a look with Erin. We stand up straight with alert.

"I'm right here." I call out. The person sounded too panicked so he must have forgotten to follow my scent.

"M!! Thank goodness I found you!" He breathed up and down, heavily.

I instantly recognize him from the cell. He was with Robert. I wondered why he was at the council meeting room.

"Why are you coming from that way?" I question.

"I went there to find you." He breathed.

I could rest a bit easy. If something had happened at the council meeting room, then it was another voting time to cast me out.

"We found Frank Cook."

I almost forgot we were searching for him. The moment I hear his name, I feel anger pulsate in my veins. He was the one who turned off the cameras and made it easy for the rogues to walk in and suffocate my mate.

"Where is he?" It came out as a low throated growl. I was ready to pounce on him and rip him to shreds before thinking about questioning him.

He swallowed before answering.

"They found his body swinging on the forbidden tree." He answered slowly.

I curse. No. This could not be happening. This was bad. This was terrifying.

"Are you sure that is the body of Frank Cook?"

"Absolutely. It was his scent. And his wife almost went crazy when she saw it."

I almost puke. The thought of losing the human, no matter how annoying he was made me feel empty inside. I couldn't imagine how Mrs. Cook felt.

"Go back to the council, tell our ambassador to phone the ambassador of Quarter moon pack so they know of our arrival. Also tell the council, any of them you meet there to prepare a small army and a large one for back up. We are going into Quarter moon pack, tell them not to touch the body. But leave a few guards to watch from our land."

The security bowed slightly before taking off again.

"M. That is dangerous. Quarter moon pack might have not even put him there. This might be part of their plan to start a war between the two packs."

I sigh deeply.

"I know that. I know very well that they are only trying to start a war. But quarter moon pack must know something. The forbidden tree is on their land. They can't say they didn't perceive a strange scent. Besides, last I checked, they had security footage on their walls."

Erin sighed. I knew it was a dangerous mission. Quarter moon pack's alpha was not the kindest alpha. He hated me in particular because I was a kid compared to him who is about a hundred and fifty. Plus, I am female.

"I have to go." I tell Erin.

He looked so worried that I hug him.

"Take care of the human for me. You can ask him the real questions before I get back. Take care of yourself too. I'll be back in a bit."

He pulled me off him.

"Don't engage in a fight. He will bait you, do not bite. Or it could be a reason to start a never-ending war."

I nod. Sometimes I wish he could follow me, he makes the best anchor, tethering me down when I could run wild. But he won't get into a fight unless he has no choice.

"See you in a bit." I say before walking away.

I don't turn back lest I run away from my responsibility. I think about the guy I'm supposed to be facing. Instantly, the only thing on my mind is how to know if quarter moon pack was involved in the suffocation or not.
