That morning I woke up extra early. I was excited, and panicked because the night before, I had decided today was the day. I was going to ask out Claire. She was the most beautiful woman in my entire school. Ever since my science teacher put us in a group for a project, we had gotten close. As I carefully picked out what I was going to wear that day, I heard my mom calling my name.
"Aiden, come down here!"
"One second!" I yelled back. I rushed to put on the shirt I had picked out, and ran downstairs with a comb in hand.
"Honey, I made you some pancakes and bacon. My mom said joyfully.
"Thank you!" I said back. Pancakes and bacon was my favorite breakfast, and only my mom could make them just the way I loved them. I rushed over to the mirror and combed my hair nicely, and then walked over the the table were their were steaming pancakes sitting on a plate for me. I could hear the bacon sizzling on the pan. I grabbed a stack of pancakes and poured syrup onto them. My mom brought over a glass of orange juice and some bacon.
"Aiden, why are you dressed all nice? And did you comb your hair?" She asked suspiciously. I rarely made myself look presentable for school, mostly because I never cared. But now, there is Claire.
"Yes..." I said sheepishly.
"Ooh are you trying to impress a girl" she said as she winked at me.
I got bright red and looked down, and I kept shoveling the pancakes into my mouth.
"You are!" She exclaimed.
She was really excited, and it made me feel self conscious. I wasn't sure how she would have reacted because I've never had a girlfriend, I've been too busy with work and school. But I've recently quit work and focused on school more since my mom got a raise. It was good, and I've started to notice more girls because I wasn't always so tired at school.
I ignored her for the rest of the morning, as she was pestering me with questions. I ran back up to my room and grab my phone, backpack, and keys then ran downstairs. As I was about to walk out the door my mom called my name.
"Aiden, you aren't going to leave without giving me a hug, are you?"
I turned around, annoyed, and gave her a hug. Then I dashed out the door and into my truck. As I started the engine, I looked at my phone. I only had 15 minutes until school started! I was planning on asking Claire our before school started! I whipped out of my driveway, barely looking behind me as I went. I sped down my road and turned onto the highway. As I pulled onto the schools road, I got a notification. I looked down for a split second, than I was suddenly thrown forward. I wasn't sure what was happening. I looked up and couldn't see anything because my hood had somehow popped open. I whipped my forehead and there was a streak of bright red blood on my hands. I jumped out of the truck and saw the small car laying 20 yards away upside down and realized what had happened. I rushed back to my truck and called emergency services, then I ran over to the car. There was a girl inside.
"Hey! Hello? Can you hear me?!" I yelled. She didn't look to hurt, but she did look like she was in a daze. She weakly turned her head towards me and stared at me for a couple seconds, then she looked forward. I'm not sure what was going through her mind, but it was clear she didn't know what happened either. She didn't look too hurt, except for a large gash in her right arm and a cut in her forehead. I decided to help her get out so I could try and stop the bleeding in her arm. I crawled into the car, careful to avoid the glass, and unbuckled her seatbelt. She fell into my arms, and I dragged her out of the car. I carefully laid her head down and ripped my sweatshirt off. I used it to tie her arm and try to stop it from bleeding so much. I heard sirens and I wished they would get here already. I kept applying pressure to her arm, when suddenly I felt a hand in my shoulder. It was a paramedic. I hadn't even heard them pull up. He started talking to me, I think he was trying to calm me down and take a couple steps back, and I think he assured me she would be alright. I watched as a couple more guys rushed over and as they rolled her into a stretcher, I ran over and grabbed her hand. She was a beautiful girl, but I couldn't remember seeing her around school ever. She looked up at me and I felt my heart thump. She reached up with her left arm and moved the oxygen mask off to the side.
"Are you and angel? She weakly asked. Then she fell unconscious. The paramedics replied her mask, then loaded her into the ambulance. They told me I couldn't ride with them, but that they were taking her to the north hospital. As they were speeding away, I ran back to my truck. The truck wasn't damaged too bad, the front bumper had a large crack in it, but other than that, it was fine. I jumped in, started the car, and rushed off to the hospital.
