The Starting

In the process of accompanying him on his descent, Cristy ran across Lawrence and Darwin. They all smiled at her. Her face began to flush. Both males were aware of what was going on upstairs. Because she was so weak, Cristy despise herself. Only a woman has that kind of control over a man.

William said to the two men, "I'm bringing Cristy home," and they laughed. Only a nod was exchanged between the two.

She covered her face with her hands in shame. There was a lot to be said about their stoic expressions. She felt disgusting. William made his way toward the door. When Mike arrived, he saw him approaching and opened the door for him.

"Your actions have caused Michelle to get enraged, William. The fact that Cristy enjoys working for her means that she wants to see you." Mike made a point of facing her. "Michelle informed you that she planned to see you tonight and that the rest of the day was free."

"I'm taking her back with me to my house. Everyone should be here when I return." In the absence of confirmation, he proceeded to act. They walked out of his house. She walked behind him in order to avoid having to share a path with him.

"You're really bossy," she said.

Angry, he scowled at her and asked, "Are you walking slowly on purpose?"

Her gaze was drawn downwards as if in contemplation. "I'm not interested in accompanying me. I know how to get home by myself."

He told her to look at him.

Cristy shifted her gaze to his lips. Her neck had been gnawed on by those lips. With her fingers, she inspected the area around her neck. The only way she could know for sure was to check to see whether he'd marked her. She stayed close to him, shielding her neck as she followed him.

They had a leisurely stroll around town. She could sense the disapproval in the faces of the onlookers. They spoke no more to each other after that. His stillness had been welcome to her.

They arrived at the house where she and her parents were living and greeted her parents. William had to open the door in order to get in.

"How come you didn't knock?" The way he acted horrified her.

"This place belongs to me, and no one else. I pursue what I'm interested in."

Cristy saw her mother and father walk out of the kitchen. The perfume of chile filled the air. Victoria, her mother, produced the greatest chili in the neighborhood.

Her father cast a sidelong glance at her before asking, "What's going on here?

William responded. "I need to speak with you."

She caught her father's nod. William simply walked away from the situation. The two of them got up and walked out of the room together.

"What's going on here?" Victoria inquired as well.

Cristy followed her mother into the kitchen. The stove was filled with four chili pots. She sighed when she thought about what would happen at night. For the full moon to be seen, the town was shut down on Monday. Reaching for the juice in the fridge, Cristy sipped her way through it. Victoria exhaled as Cristy neck became exposed.

"Cristy, what the heck happened?" her mom demanded it.

Walking away from her mother, Cristy proceeded to check out her neck in the mirror. Her neck was covered with a large purple bruise. When it happened so quickly, she couldn't understand how it could have happened so quickly.

She hunched her shoulders and glared at her mother. "William thinks we're in a relationship. After he bit my wrist, things became a little heavy."

"Cristy Lincon what on earth were you thinking?"

"Neither am I. Don't start lecturing me, Mom. I'm sorry for what I've done. Please let it go. We have to complete the meal tonight, so I don't feel like answering questions."

Her mother was interrupted by William when she tried to continue.

"Let her be alone, please."

Victoria's mouth opened and shut before she nodded and walked away. The focus of Cristy's eyes was on William. She averted her gaze from his and fixed her gaze on the still-uncovered area of his chest. "Why you still here?" Cristy asked.

"I'm more sexually active than the majority of males my age." The closer he got to her face, the closer he got to her chest.

"Pay attention to what I'm saying." She shook her head. Her nerves had returned, and her heart was pounding in her chest as she waited for the results.

"I've spoken with your dad already. In his mind, he is aware of what is going on."

The girl's face was stroked by William. "The situation is clear to you now, right?"

When Cristy felt the backs of his fingers, she burst into flame. They were infatuated with one other. For the first time, she felt like a passionate hussy in desperate need of his touch.

"We'll see each other at the dinner. During the hunt, you must remain inside your home."

"Why?" Cristy asked.

"Leaving this house before the feast will result in severe punishment from me."

The following second, he was gone. So, Cristy made her way over to her dad's office and walked right in. While crouched over a book, he swayed his head in a jerky motion. In order to gain her father's attention, she yelled out, "Daddy! I'm a little shaken up. I'm at a loss as to what happened. Before I was hauled to William… Lily and I were chatting about pancakes. I didn't do a single thing."

Cristy's dad stood and swung around to embrace her. "Our alpha takes care of everything. He is there to defend you. He'll share the news with everyone during dinner tonight."

She shook her head. "No, that's not the case, dad! I am now a member of the werewolves' kingdom!"

"It doesn't matter. William will stake a claim on you in front of the entire pack before accepting you as a mate."

A few moments later, Cristy said, "I don't want to do this."

Her wrist felt his touch. "It has already begun. Other supernatural creatures use this as a trademark. Up to a point, you'll be safe from harm.'

Cristy's dad let out a long sigh of relief. "This guy has a lot of sturdiness. The Southern Forest's wolf pack is led by him. Many people are rooting for him to fail."

"And I'd be held liable for his mistakes?" Cristy inquired after recognizing his argument.

"Yes. Additional vigilance is required," Cristy's dad leaned in and kissed her on the head.
