I halt halfway to the kitchen when I heard her suddenly laughing. I waved it off and retreated to the kitchen and saw Daniel cleaning the plates he just washed. I was surprised though, he climbed on a stool to reach the plate racket. I walked over to him and took the plates from him.

"You don't have to do this, I took the plates. I will do them."

"I'm not complaining," he beamed. "I want to help out in the kitchen, sitting all day playing games or watching tv bores me."

"I've been wanting to ask. What grade are you?"

"I'm in middle school, grade 2," Daniel answered, handing him a plate. "But after the holiday I will be in grade 3."

"That's cool, and I know you must be the brightest kid in school."

"Kinda..." Daniel shrugged. "What was your childhood like? I know you must be one of those cool kids in schools."
