I didn't have a lot going for me, or so I thought.
Let me introduce myself; my name is Dalia Aquino, and I'm a normal high school student.
Wait, I'm still struggling to adapt to my reality: my new normal.
You see; I WAS a normal high school student. A nerdy, mouse girl who nobody would even notice. I really didn't have any friends to speak of. And the idea of getting a boyfriend? Haha! Now that was bordering on sci fi.
I was a pretty dedicated student, with pretty solid grades, I'd say, but not a lot of time to actually have, you know, a social life, or fun. I was never allowed to go to parties: my parents were pretty strict: it wasn't that grades were my main focus: they made it pretty clear it was my ONLY focus.
I was an assistant to the science professor, and as the lesson ended, I helped to clean the classroom. It was the final one of the day, so I wasn't in a hurry.
In hindsight, I should've known better: having to deal with chemicals, even in a high school setting, still has an amount of risk, but I guess I was too numb, and too used to it, way too much for my own good. It surely didn't help that I was a clumsy girl (so there was no hope in hell I would ever make it to, let's say, the cheerleader team).
But still, I should have taken more precautions; I dropped a little glass container that when it broke, it would change my life, forever.
A small explosion of colorful smoke was heard. That rainbow formation was the last glimpse of my old existence…
