Heir of Depravity

*Warning: Restricted Content* Nikolai is the last born of his seven brothers, and the only one left behind when his father, the king of Rodakrov, went mad. Six years later, the king dies and Nikolai, at just fifteen, must take the throne for himself. But succession is never that easy. Soon after his inauguration, his eldest brother appears before him, demanding that he cede power to the oldest of their shared bloodline... forgetting that the brother he was commanding was a child of a mad king, raised in the deepest pools of insanity. An heir to depravity itself. And depravity does not take orders. It does not follow the law of man or kingdom. It knows not the meaning of mercy. A single drop within an ocean, and the entire ocean is blighted. **The romance included within this story is slow burn, and it is neither linear nor simple. You've been warned! Epistles from the Murk - Part 1

Palace of Argyr

Chrysipol, Eurakos

~

"My queen."

Ptolemia lifted her gaze from her husband, training in the courtyard beyond the stucco balustrade below.

"What is it, Belen?" She prompted, her eyes scouring the young slave before they settled upon the parchment in his grasp.

"Correspondence from Castle Mechi, my queen."

"Castle Mechi?" Megara, who was reclined upon the divan beside her mother, piped in, eyes alighting. "As in, from Rodakrov?"

Ptolemia extended her hand, accepting the letter before dismissing the slave.

She sighed as she studied the thick and sturdy Krovic made paper. It was too early to be receiving their biannual post from King Bozhidar, who – despite his acclaimed madness – was always punctual with it. This did not bode well, at all.

"What could the bear people want?" Megara inquired, pushing herself up, so that her expectant and almost demanding gaze could not be missed by her mother.
