I couldn't let this job slip away. it's the only one I've secured since college. I had to speak up, hoping for a chance to be heard. I thought the emotionless CEO couldn't end the interview without conducting it until I heard

'' sit'' he said. To be honest, this cold CEO who was rumored to be too heartless to hear me out, sat down and conducted the interview I just couldn't believe it. he was even impressed with my credentials I just thank the stars for having studied hard while at college back then.

'' congratulations on your successful interview. I will have my secretary bring all the necessary documents for you to sign'' he said and I couldn't my ears, I was so excited I got the job. I sighed, now I will be able to cater for myself and relieve my best friend and roommate Lana of all household expenses. soon enough a knock was heard and the president's secretary walked in saying

'' Here is the document you requested, sir'' I informed my superior, who simply nodded and handed me the file. upon opening it, I saw that it bore a bold title, ''The employee contract,'' and outlined the terms of the agreement between Mr. Raphael Lancaster and Miss Nathalie Hammers.

As I read through the document, I came across some noteworthy clauses.

Clause 1 stipulates that Party B, acting as the assistant, must be prepared to engage in travel alongside Party A.

Clause 2 outlines a generous offer to Party B, consisting of a sum of two hundred dollars and a house for themselves and their family, owned by the company, which I found to be impressive.

Clause 3 mandates that Party B work with the utmost dedication and enthusiasm expected by Party A.

However, I was unable to finish reading the rest of the document, as, at that moment the secretary interrupted me to inquire if I had completed my task.''

''yes''

''Do you have any problem with any clause'' the president's secretary asked.

'' no sir''

''ok Then we can now proceed to sign the contract'' I signed my part and Mr. Lancaster signed his part and then passed it to his secretary.

''Congratulations Miss Hammers Welcome to the Lancaster group ma'am You can report on Monday by 8 o'clock since today is Friday'' the secretary said.

''thankyou sir''

''ok please wait for the copy of the document then you can take your leave''

''Alright sir'' I replied with a smile.

Soon my Lancaster secretary handed me a copy of the contract I collected it and said

''thanks''

"Good day, sir," I greeted the CEO politely as I entered his office. His secretary responded cordially, but the CEO only gave a small nod in acknowledgment. I didn't take offense though, as I had heard that he was a man of few words. After our brief meeting, I made my way out of the Lancaster group, confident in my knowledge of the building's layout. I hailed a cab and took it all the way home, eager to share the exciting news with my partner, Lana. I could hardly wait to see the look on her face when she heard the news.

''We are here'' the cab driver said, stopping the car.

"Thank you, Here is your payment," I said as I got out of the taxi, feeling content and satisfied. I happily made my way back home, my thoughts swirling in my head as I wondered why Lana was back so early. Upon reaching the doorstep, I noticed that the door was unlocked, which made me realize that Lana must have returned. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, only to find Lana sitting comfortably on the couch, enjoying her popcorn and a comedy series on TV. She noticed me and flashed me a warm smile, greeting me with a cheerful tone. Seeing her was a pleasant surprise, and I couldn't help but feel grateful for her presence at that moment.

''hey you are back''

''yes I am back but why are you back this early''

''yeah you know today is Friday my crazy boss decided to let us get off work early''

''Lana rumerian! I told you to stop calling him crazy he is only a workaholic type''

''ok I heard you miss, forget about me now tell me did you get you get the job?

''Well, what did you think'' I said with a smile and she put her finger on her chin pretending to think.

''I know my best friend is the best and judging from your smile you got the job right''

I chuckle at her words '' yes baby I got the job'' then I narrated my whole encounter with Lancaster CEO.

''huh! That cold CEO is very mean, I must praise your courage.''

''Tell me you know how bad I am at guessing'' she said and I rolled my eyes knowing she was really bad at guessing.

"Guess what? I've been offered a sweet deal! I'll get a salary of $200 and the company will provide me with a house to live in. How amazing is that?"

''what! wow congratulations babe I can't believe that cold CEO will be this generous''

''yes dear we will be moving out to a new house''

''you mean me and you''

'' what about your family I don't think it will be proper''

''Common stupid, you know you are my only family ever since my mom died and please don't mention that family you don't want to ruin my mood''

''ok babe it's settled then babe We will move out, and I will only miss this place''

''yeah I will also miss it too dear''

''alright go take a shower we will have dinner when you are back''

"Excuse me for just a moment, I'll be back in five minutes," I said with a playful wink to my companion. After a quick shower, we enjoyed a lovely dinner together before retiring to our cozy room for the night. As I was about to drift off to sleep, the sound of my phone ringing interrupted my peace. Upon checking the caller ID, I saw that it was my father on the line and promptly answered the call.

''what is it now''

''you unfilial brats have you finally lacked respect''

''What do you want Dad It's late and I want to sleep'' Knowing my patience is on a thin line he replied.

'' I want you to have dinner with us tomorrow''

''so that you and your stepfamily can ruin my day''

''OK I will be there'' I interrupted him knowing fully well that he wouldn't back off.

''Be there at 7 pm'' After the call ended, I found myself staring at the phone screen, my mind racing with questions. What was the plan that they wanted to execute tomorrow? It wasn't often that he called me at home, so it must be something important. Despite my reluctance, I knew that I had to go and find out. As I lay down to rest, I couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension for the long day ahead.
