Chap. 1. Part 2

Harry tells Hagrid that he had no money and Hagrid hands him a brown bag with gold coins that was part of the fortune his parents had left him.

To buy the wand they go to Ollivander where the wand chooses the wizard and not the other way around. Harry chooses a holly wood wand, 28 cm, with a slightly adaptable flexibility and a Phoenix feather core.

Then, to buy the uniform, they head to Madam Malkin's All Occasions Robes store.

And finally, to buy the book list, they went to Flourish and Blotts.

On September 1, Harry goes to King's Cross Station, where he meets Ron Weasley. Together they pass between Platform 9 and 10 towards Platform 9¾.

While on the Express, which was leaving at 11 o'clock, Harry buys the entire trolley of goodies and shares it with Ron. Suddenly, a girl with red hair enters the carriage where they were. She introduces herself as Hermione Granger. After some exchange of words, Harry and Ron found Hermione to be a hostile, know-it-all girl.

Arrival at Hogwarts Castle

Upon arrival at the Castle, all students were asked to go to the Great Dining Hall for the Sorting Ceremony where first year students will be told which Hogwarts House they will belong to. The person in charge of deciding the best House for each student is the Sorting Hat.

Students were called one at a time and selected for one of the four Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Revenclaw, and Slytherin.

When Ron Weasly is called the Sorting Hat, without hesitation, he shouts: Gryffindor!!!!

Then Hermione Granger is called and is also sent to Gryffindor.

When it was Harry's turn, the Hat hesitated whether to send him to Gryffindor or Slyttering. But after perceiving all the great things he would do in Slythering, the Hat shouted: Slythering!!!!

Harry disappointed, as he had known how discriminating some Slythering members were like Draco Lucius Malfoy who upon learning that Harry was James Potter's son and that he was a pureblood said to him:

"I really don't think they should let the others in, don't you? They're not like us, they weren't brought up to know our ways. Some of them had never heard of Hogwarts until they got the letter, you can imagine. I think it should all stay in the old wizarding families."

Referring to so-called "dirty bloods" like Hermione Granger.
