The nostalgic chirping of birds flowed in through the window, awakening Pro from his slumber. Stretching his arms with a smile, Pro slowly sat up as he opened his eyes to welcome the a new day filled with sunshine and magic.
"It's summer, but I still can't laze around. There's just too much to do," Pro muttered as he got off his bed.
A wand materialized in Pro's hand as he equipped it and with a flick, Pro summoned his casual clothes from his closet with the summoning charm. With familiar movements, Pro slipped his clothes on before opening the door with another flick of his wand.
Putting his wand away, Pro headed to the bathroom to freshen up. No magic this time because magic can't help you use the toilet. Magic plus toilet in the Harry Potter verse means a trip to the Ministry of Magic instead of refreshing your bowels.
Heading down to the living room, Pro found mommy Beatrice sitting on the couch and cheerfully rubbing her bulging belly while whispering loving words of joy to it.
"Good morning, mother."
Mommy Beatrice turned her head over and her face bloomed with a happy smile, "Oh! My precious darling is awake. Mommy already made breakfast for you, you just have to heat it up."
"Mother, you didn't have to. I could have handled it myself, you should rest more. It's already tiring enough to carry my baby sister in your belly," Pro tried to persuade like usual.
"No! Mommy wants to make food for her precious darling and no one can stop her! It doesn't take much effort for mommy anyways because mommy can cook with magic," mommy Beatrice retorted in a childish tone before she put on her puppy face as her eyes became watery, "Or is my precious darling not liking the food that mommy cooks?"
"No, no. Of course, I like the food mother cooks," Pro hurriedly surrendered in the face of mommy Beatrice's killer tactics.
"Good! Then, my precious darling can enjoy his meal. Mommy will continue to teach your baby sister about magic~"
Uhh ... the baby hasn't even been born, how can she learn magic? Still, Pro didn't point it out. As long as his mother his happy, she can do whatever she wants. Heading to the kitchen, Pro found a wrapped plate of food. Taking off the wrapper, Pro's mouth twitched as he saw a mountain pile of an assortment of his favorite breakfast items.
After heating some of them up, Pro brought his plate of food and strolled towards the garden, where the charmed wizarding tent was located.
Seeing Pro pass by, mommy Beatrice hollered out, "Pro, remember to finish your breakfast that mommy made with all her love~"
"A- alright ..." Pro replied while sighing inwardly.
Entering the tent, Pro saw the familiar back of a certain girl with bushy hair. She was already focused on reading a book while trying to cast spells with the wand in her hand.
"Morning Hermione, already studying so hard?" Pro greeted as he strolled over and plopped down on the couch next to Hermione.
Turning to give a glance at Pro, Hermione smiled cheerfully before replying, "You're awake. Brilliant. We can study spells together. Second year will start soon and we must finish mastering all the second year spells in the books. We might as well start learning some of the third year spells as well, I mean, it shouldn't be too difficult. After all, we should always be prepared. It won't take long and we'll have to take our O.W.L.s-"
"Hold up! Wait a moment! There is still months before school starts, and O.W.L.s are during our fifth year," Pro replied as he rubbed his eyebrows, "Both are a long way from now. Instead of worrying about those, how about helping me with my breakfast instead?"
Hermione paused for a moment before she glanced at Pro's stacked breakfast plate. She then wryly smiled before replying while glancing over at a wrapped up plate sitting on the table in front of the couch, "I made sure to skip breakfast before I came, but I still can't finish what Auntie Smith prepared for me."
Glancing at the hill-shaped plate, Pro sighed before he began to gouge on his plate of food alone. Hermione went back to her studying while mumbling, "I have to learn the vanishing charm as soon as possible or I will get fat!"
After Pro finished his meal, Pro joined Hermione in practicing magic manually for a while. Although he can't use them as Pro had already manually learned a lot of the second year spells, but was still behind Hermione in progress. If he didn't have his cheat system, perhaps Hermione would have left him far behind.
As reading didn't provide him as much XP anymore, Pro focused on grinding spells. After he got bored, Pro left Hermione to continue studying while he went to grab his broom leaning against the wall inside the tent.
The sad, lonely Nimbus 2000 was finally allowed to leave the dark closet after Pro persuaded mommy Beatrice with the support of his father. Pro finally completed his First Broom quest and the reward was a new system auxiliary interface, the Quidditch interface.
Hopping onto the broom, the Quidditch interface replaced the R*nescape interface. The mini-map was still there, but there was now a counterclockwise arrow button at the bottom right corner. Tapping on that button will flip the normal mini-map over to the Quidditch mini-map that supposedly focused only on the Quidditch statium.
Right now, the Quidditch mini-map was all black with an error displayed in it, "No Quidditch Stadium detected." Pro assumed that it would come into play once he was in the Hogwarts stadium, but that is to be determined. For now, Pro simply kept the normal mini-map and simply rode the broom in the fairly large space of the tent.
As he rose into the airspace of the tent, Pro glanced at the skill buttons lined up at the bottom of his system interface. That's right, the Quidditch system actually came with skills!
These skills are acquired by leveling up his agility level, and they include both passive and active skills. The active skills are the ones that appear on the system interface and can be activated during flight.
Right now, Pro's agility level was only raised to level 8 from 7, thanks to the agility XP gained from completing the First Broom quest. At level 8, there was only a couple of abilities unlocked.
When the Quidditch system was first unlocked, Pro was presented with a prompt to pick his Quidditch class, which would affect the skills he would acquire. The choices were chaser, beater, keeper, and seeker. Knowing that Harry will be the de facto seeker and that the Weasley twins are the beaters, Pro simply chose between the chaser and the keeper. As he didn't want to stay in place and serve as a living target, Pro decided to choose chaser.
After confirming his class to be a chaser, Pro's skills were unlocked. At level 1, the passive 'broom control' ability was unlocked. It simply allowed Pro to command his broom to listen to his commands like jumping up to his hand or turn in a certain direction. Basic flight was no problem with this basic skill.
At level 3, the passive basic 'assisted aim' was unlocked. This ability gave him a hidden +10 ranged level buff when on his broom. After comparing his throwing skills on and off the broom, Pro concluded that a higher ranged level will help Pro make more accurate throws and also increase the max distance of his throws. With the buff, Pro can at least send his projectiles flying straight towards their intended destination.
After getting these passives, Pro realized that they were probably already in play before he unlocked the Quidditch system. So, they weren't anything special. The special part of the Quidditch system was the active abilities that he was now granted.
At level 5, the first active skill, Brake, was unlocked. This basic skill allowed Pro to immediately and safely stop his broom in place without losing control. No matter the inertia, Pro will not be thrown off his broom. This skill was a useful lifesaver and it only had a cooldown of 10 seconds after each use. Of course, the safety brakes also rely on Pro's reaction speeds, so he had to practice flying into the ground ... let's not mention how many times he actually crashed into the ground.
At level 7, the first active skill, Speed Burst, was unlocked. When activated, this skill allowed for Pro to quickly accelerate forward to maximum broom speed and gain 10% extra flight speed for 5 seconds. There was a cooldown of 1 minute for this skill after each use and there was also a cost of 10% run energy. Pro only had the courage to try this skill once and he decided to never try it again unless he had an open space. He was lucky that he managed to brake in time.
Pro glided back and forth in the airspace of the tent while training his brake reactions. If Pro ever joins the Quidditch team, he believes that his personal safety should come first.
Whoosh! Whoosh! After a while of hearing the distracting noise, Hermione who was studying below frowned a bit before she glanced up at Pro and hollered, "Pro, can you tone it down? I'm trying to study down here. Boys. Seriously."
Chuckling, Pro controlled the broom to glide down behind the couch and he reached out his hand to give Hermione a pet on the head, causing her angry face to ease away.
"Hermione, I'm just practicing a bit. I may apply to try out for the Quidditch team this year," Pro announced.
Hermione turned to glance at Pro with a bit of worry in her eyes, "Are you really?"
Pro nodded in affirmation.
Hermione bit her lips a bit before she muttered, "But ... it's dangerous isn't it? I've watched it, especially those Slytherin games. It's totally barbaric! Pro ... you don't have to play something as dangerous as that."
Hopping off his broom, the Quidditch system faded away and was replaced by the R*nescape interface. Pro laid the broom on the ground and vaulted over the couch. Plopping himself down next to Hermione, Pro pulled her in for an embrace as he whispered, "Why? Are you worried for me?"
Hermione silently nodded as she leaned against Pro's chest.
"Harry's also playing Quidditch. How come you aren't worried for him?"
Hermione looked up and firmly stated, "Of course I'm worried for Harry!"
"But you still don't stop him from playing," Pro replied with a smile, "Why stop me?"
"But you and Harry are different!" Hermione argued as she pouted.
"Why are we different?" Pro asked with an evil smile plastered on his face.
Hermione turned her head away as she mumbled, "I already told you so many times, why do you keep making me say it?"
"Because I like to hear you say it," Pro replied as he reached out his hand and turned Hermione's head back over to face him, "Tell me Hermione, why are we different?"
Hermione blushed a bit before she whispered in a soft voice, "Because you are the boy I like."
Pro chuckled happily as he heard the words once more. Giving Hermione more pets on her head to make her happy, Pro placed his forehead against her forehead as he whispered back, "And you are the girl I like."
"Mmm."
The couple enjoyed the moment of silence as their thoughts seemed to meld together and their souls formed a bond beyond time and-
"Ahem."
The two were shocked by the sudden interruption and pulled away from each other a bit. Glancing towards the voice, Pro saw mommy Beatrice standing at the entrance of the tent.
She gave the two a strange but happy glance before she rubbed her belly and spoke to it, "My baby darling, listen to mommy ... you must not grow up to be like your naughty brother alright? So young, and he already learns to flirt with girls ... should I make daddy Joseph sleep on the couch tonight?"
Pro choked and coughed a bit before glancing at Hermione, who was blushing while twirling her hair with her fingers. Seeing Pro look over, Hermione glared at him, reached out her hand, and gave Pro a pinch on his legs.
Pro's lips twitched before he turned back to mommy Beatrice, "Mother, is there something you are looking for us for?"
Mommy Beatrice paused a bit before she put her finger over her mouth while muttering, "Hmmm ... what did I come for again ..."
"Ah! I remember! I came to remind you two that Joseph will be home from work soon. He promised to take you two to Diagon Alley to get books. Pro, didn't you say you also want to exchange some pounds for galleons. You can also head over to Gringotts with your daddy. Oh, and Hermione darling, Joseph will pay for your books as well, so feel free to pick any you would like."
"T-That ... Auntie Granger, it's not necessary. My parents also gave me an allowance ..." Hermione tried to reject.
"No worries Hermione darling. There's no need to reject, we are all family anyways. Your uncle Joseph has a decent salary from the department and there is still plenty of savings in our family vault. Darling, you should keep your allowance and purchase things you like for yourself. Maybe you will want some snacks ... no, my precious Pro will take care of that part of the date. Maybe get yourself a beauty potion ... but you are already so beautiful and cute ... maybe-"
"Mother ..." Pro groaned and interrupted as he glanced over at the blushing Hermione, "I'll take care of Hermione, don't worry. Mother, you should take a rest. It should be exhausting to stand there while carrying my baby sister. Even if you're not tired, my baby sister would be tired right?"
"Eh? Yes, I guess you're right. As expected of my precious darling, as smart as his mommy. Mommy will go rest now. Mrs. Granger will come over to watch over me later so you two don't have to worry and go on your little date. I will make sure to remind Joseph to not bother-"
"Mother!"
"Alright, alright. Mommy understands. My precious darling wants alone time with his precious girlfriend, mommy won't bother you two anymore," mommy Beatrice teased before she left with a giggle.
Glancing over at Hermione who was blushing while trying to act like nothing happened by reading her book, Pro chuckled as he teased, "Why are you acting shy? My mother's always like this, aren't you used to it by now?"
Hermione glared over with a pout before she turned back to her book, a bit distracted while she mumbled, "Date ..."
"So that's what you were worrying about?" Pro muttered as he raised his eyebrow.
Hermione glanced over before she looked away and asked, "But ... aren't we ... unofficial?"
Pro chuckled as he reached out to hold her soft hand, "Yes, but it doesn't mean we can't go on a date. Even if we are unofficial, we are still boyfriend and girlfriend."
"But didn't you make a rule saying that it wasn't allowed?" Hermione exclaimed as she looked over with a hint of shock mixed with anticipation.
"Rules are made to be broken aren't they?" Pro replied with a grin.
