Harry Potter: The art of divination

In 1972 Hogwarts receives a new and mysterious professor. The class of Divination was never the same after. The journey of Morpheus will be long and daunting can he finally reach his goal? - Au: there will be many changes to the world of Harry potter, such as some Gods will exist, and so will demons and angels. Not a Fix it fic, of course, some futures will change but the main focus will not be on fixing the future. SI: Mc is not reincarnated into this world Timeline: some characters might be younger or older disclaimer: So, most of this obviously belongs to J.K.Rowling. I'm just writing a fanfiction out of it. The cover art is sadly, not mine. ————- (P) (A) (T) (R) (E) (O)(N) LINK: patreon.com/Boogie324

Tutoring

*Morpheus pov*

The sun glowed brightly over the lands of Hogwarts emitting a peaceful allure over the grounds of the castle. Students could be seen outside the castle walls basking in the fortune of beautiful weather.

I stood in my classroom with a glass of wine in hand staring out of a window and appreciating the blue sky. The calming atmosphere led me to close my eyes and just relax.

I could do this for hours on end, opportunities to just relax in the moment were rare for me much rarer than I would like.

Bah, I can relax after everything is over.

To my utter dismay, I heard the door creak behind me, "Um am I interrupting something?" Xenophilius's voice reached my ears breaking my state of peace

Opening my eyes I turned around, "Not at all," I smiled slightly while waving my hand causing the door to close behind him

Xenophilius was sporting a broad grin, a grin that was nothing compared to his usual out-of-focus expression, "I did it, I finished the book," he said with relief but at the same time I heard some sadness in his tone

I nodded, "Did you? What are your thoughts," I asked while taking the book from his hand

He seemed to be lost in thought as he replied, "The Tragedy Of Divination, reading it taught me many things much more than I thought it would, it taught me about the dangers of revealing what I learn through my sight, it taught me the dangers of keeping what I learn to myself. It taught me to have a focus, an anchor to keep me sane I learned a lot but at the same time feel like I learned little if that makes sense?" he finished with a complex look on his face

Listening to his words a sad look threatened to appear on my face, instead, a small smile showed, "I see, yes the book was meant for that purpose. Cause and effect are things a divination master becomes intimately familiar with," I said while putting the book on my desk

Xenophilius nodded in understanding, "Professor I have a question it's just something I'm a little curious about," he said while walking over and picking up the book once more

Xenophilius opened the book carefully and skipped to the back near the last pages, "This last section doesn't have a name, everyone else either put their name or a moniker this one didn't," he said

Nodding I asked, "What is your question?" I took another sip of my wine while peering over at the pages

Xenophilius frowned, "Do you know who this is and what happened to him or her? They seem like the most troubled one in the whole book. The ramblings started off badly and only got worse from there while the others started off seemingly sound of mind and developed madness. This person, what happened to them?" his tone was surprisingly filled with worry

I shrugged my shoulders, "Who knows, it could be anyone maybe someone famous or just and random wizard. Did they really seem that crazy to you?" I joked softly

Xenophilius nodded vehemently, "Just read some of this stuff, 'I saw it again my defeat I can't tell the others they will lose their will to fight maybe I should kill myself and hope for a better future?' then here they say 'NO no NO! I should just take out the root yes if I just kill the traitors the tides might change'" He read aloud

"That seems pretty normal to me. No mad ramblings and this person had a clear plan," I pointed out in confusion

Xenophilius sighed, "Yeah it seems that way but when you put it into context that he's talking about killing a whole village of people for conspiring with 'demons' it doesn't sound very normal to me," he said with a small chuckle

I shrugged again, "Demons could be dark wizards, and a whole village could just be an overstatement who knows," I replied shaking my head at this child

"I want to feel their blood on my body, I want to bathe in it while I'm surrounded by their people's corpses. I want them to witness me massacring their loved ones, just glimpsing into the future, and seeing the mere possibility fuels me with hope. I have seen my path to victory it might not be now but in the future, I will stand before them and watch as they beg for forgiveness. Forgiveness for even existing," Xenophilius read softly

Xenophilius shook his head in sadness, "This was not even the worst passage, one of them they described telling a loved one of the future and then killing the loved one because there was a mere possibility of betrayal," I took the book from his hands

"What makes you resonate with this person so much? I know for a fact there are many similar stories in this book," I said while tucking the book into my robes

Xenophilius frowned shaking his head, "I don't know, I just feel like this person is someone special." he said faintly

Clapping my hands I laughed, "Enough worrying, I assume you want to continue your lessons?" I asked rhetorically

Xenophilius seemed to jolt from his thoughts, "Of course," he replied sporting a look of determination

Nodding I said, "Good, how far have you progressed with your main card?" I asked lightly

Xenophilius whipped out his deck and flipped over the first card revealing a half-done image, "About halfway done Sir," he replied

I was surprised he is quite talented indeed, "Good, very good actually we can start with some methods of tarot that you can perform quickly," I said motioning for him to take a seat

He sat down across from me, "The method I will be explaining to you today is what modern tarot card readers call a base reading. What you do is shuffle your deck," I showed him pulling my own deck out

After one shuffle I then explained, "The shuffle is important because you are subconsciously dispersing your magic into the cards, and then after the first shuffle have the person you are reading shuffle the deck once and only once," I said passing the cards to him

Xenophilius quickly shuffled the cards only once and then handed them back to me, "Now once that is complete place the cards on the table, and have them flip over the top card," I said simply

Xenophilius did so flipping over the top card and revealing the wheel of fortune, "Now here is the important part, you must now explain what the card means but how do you do that when each card has multiple meanings you might ask?" I said with a small smile

It feels good to teach like this.

He nodded at my question, "Well it's simple, to start off I recommend holding your hand over the card and briefly closing your eyes feeling the essence of the card. When you're experienced like myself you don't need to," I said showing him how he should do it

"What does my card mean?" he asked

"In this case a positive change of fate,"

After Xenophilius left I took the book from my robes and opened to the last pages, my hand lightly trailed the words as I closed my eyes in remembrance.

It feels like just yesterday I wrote these words down.
