*Narrator pov*
"Tie!" The judge announced before casting finite on both of the duelists freeing them from each other's spells
Amelia groaned in annoyance at her loss and the uncomfortable feeling of losing the ability to move and suddenly regaining it.
"Good duel," she said respectfully to her opponent
Her opponent smiled, "Good duel," she replied roughly
Kohana thought that was her duel to win, it would have meant a lot to her teammates as they were losing.
Both students stepped off of the platform and rejoined their teammates of which both were supportive of their friend's tie.
After Amelia's duel, it was soon the fifth-year students' turn to stop atop the platform. Since both schools had a relatively small population of fifth-year duelists both schools were sending out their best students at the start.
For Hogwarts Frank Longbottom was set to take the stage and show his prowess with a wand. He was confident in his chances for victory, he wasn't arrogant by any means no Frank is the farthest thing from arrogant. As his name was called all of the Hogwarts duelists wished him good luck.
Yuto Yoshida was nervous, in just his fifth year he was hailed to be one of the best duelists of his year. Match after match he saw his friends and teammates lose to the English students. The weight of his friend's expectations for him to win was overwhelming.
But, he knew he needed to win. Yes, they might not win the whole event and in his opinion, they didn't need to. No, he needed to win so he can rally the morale once more. The crowd who started loud and boisterous was now more subdued.
As Yuto stepped onto the stage the crowd yelled, he could hear the hopeful shouts in their screams.
"Ready?" the judge asked
Frank held his wand firmly in his hand, "Yes," he replied softly ready to pounce
Yuto looked at the crowd and let their cheers wash over him before looking back at the judge, "Yes,"
The judge nodded before stepping off of the platform, "START!"
Yuto wasted no time, his movements swift as he conjured a powerful gust of wind to knock Frank off balance. "Kaze no gekifū!" he declared, his voice ringing out with authority as the wind whipped through the courtyard.
Frank, caught off guard by Yuto's sudden attack, stumbled backwards but quickly regained his footing. With a flick of his wand, he retaliated by summoning a shield of ice to deflect the oncoming wind. "Glacies Protego!" he exclaimed, his voice firm as the ice formed a protective barrier around him.
Yuto, undeterred by Frank's defense, pressed forward with another onslaught of wind magic. This time, he infused his spell with additional force, creating a cyclone that threatened to engulf Frank in its swirling vortex. "Tatsumaki no senpū!" he shouted, his voice resolute as the cyclone roared to life.
Frank gritted his teeth, his determination shining through as he focused on countering Yuto's relentless assault. With a series of precise wand movements, he channeled his magic into a powerful burst of energy, dispersing the cyclone with a blast of force. "Expulso!" he called out, his voice echoing through the courtyard as the energy surged forward.
But Yuto was ready for Frank's counterattack. With a flick of his ring-bearing hand, he summoned a wall of wind to deflect the blast, redirecting it harmlessly away. "Kaze no kabe!" he declared, his voice calm and composed as the wind formed a solid barrier between him and Frank.
Frank narrowed his eyes, impressed by Yuto's quick thinking and mastery of wind magic. Passion to win flared within him as he surveyed the swirling winds that now separated them. He knew he needed to find a way to break through Yuto's defenses if he wanted to turn the tide of the duel in his favor.
Gathering his focus, Frank took a deep breath and began to channel his magic once more. With a series of precise wand movements, he conjured a barrage of flames to rain down upon Yuto's barrier. "flamma verberare!" he exclaimed, his voice echoing through the courtyard as the spheres of fire rained down upon Yuto's barrier
Yuto's eyes widened in surprise as he realized Frank's strategy. With a swift motion, he manipulated the wind to create a swirling vortex, deflecting the fire and sending them spiraling harmlessly away. "Kaze no tatsumaki!" he called out, his voice steady despite the intensity of the situation.
Undeterred, Frank pressed on, his will unwavering. With a flick of his wand, he summoned a wave of fire to engulf Yuto's barrier, hoping to weaken its defenses. "Incendio!" he shouted, his voice ringing out with determination as the flames roared to life.
But Yuto was prepared for Frank's second assault. With a focused gaze, he intensified the winds around him, creating a cyclone of rough winds that extinguished the flames before they could reach his barrier. "Hi no tatsumaki!" he declared, his voice steady as the cyclone consumed the flames.
Frank gritted his teeth in frustration, his mind racing as he searched for a way to overcome Yuto's formidable defenses. Drawing upon his knowledge of dueling tactics, he began to weave a complex series of spells, each one designed to test Yuto's reflexes and endurance.
With each passing moment, the duel grew more intense, the courtyard alive with the crackle of magic and the howl of the wind. Frank and Yuto traded spells back and forth, each one pushing themselves to their limits in their quest for victory.
As the duel reached its climax, both Frank and Yuto found themselves pushed to the brink of exhaustion. Sweat beaded on their brows, their breath coming in ragged gasps as they poured their remaining strength into their magic.
But despite their fatigue, neither duelist showed any sign of backing down
Frank felt like he was dueling an immovable object, fire, lightning, stunners, explosions, and more just had no effect against the diverse abilities of Yuto's wind spells.
"Haaa," "haaa," Frank panted ass Yuto defended yet another barrage of spells
Suddenly Yuto made a diamond symbol with his hands before thrusting forward sending a strong gust of wind forward.
Frank tried to stay firmly planted on the platform but his exhaustion was apparent as when the second wave of wind came he was lifted off of his feet and off the platform,
Frank rolled on the ground as he heard the judge yell for Yuto's victory and the crowd thunder in excitement,
"Bloody hell," he mumbled in pain
***
After Frank lost Hogwarts won one more and then lost again. It was disheartening, to say the least, but the losses were not without their own bonuses. The students felt like they were learning more, so next time the duels wouldn't go down the same way.
The duelist pools for the sixth-year students were tragic, both schools had barely any students in the dueling program leaving the matches to be interesting, fast-paced, and showing some interesting spell chains.
Hogwarts barely came out on top of the sixth-year duels.
"THE MATCH BETWEEN HOGWARTS AND MAHOUTOKORO HAS ENDED! HOGWARTS PULLS AWAY WITH THE VICTORY!" The judge announced
The crowd still yelled in praise even though it was mostly Mahoutokoro students in the stands.
"WE DID IT!" Lily cheered happily
Hogwarts really did it.

sorry this was so long, surprisingly these dueling chapters take longer for me to write than others
