Amelia

*Narrator pov*

After Marinette came back from the healers there was only a short amount of time for the next duel to happen as they had to fix the platform because of Kaito's destructive spells.

Marinette rejoined the group significantly more popular than before, yes she won last time versus Durmstrang but this time she really showed the amazing qualities of her dueling style. Watching Marinette's duel showed that not everything is about overpowering your opponent with a plethora of spells but about timing and calculation.

She really did duel like a serpent, waiting for the best time to land a devastating blow. Lily who was still a little bummed about her loss looked over at the older student with a thoughtful look, Severus who was next to her saw the look and sighed he knew when Lily decided something she will see it through and she will probably ask him to talk to her, even though he doesn't even know her. Being in the same house does not equate to knowing everyone in said house.

"Davey Gudgeon versus Emi Saito!" the judge announced breaking the students from their conversations

Davey Gudgeon walked on the platform with a confident gait, one could easily tell he had no thought about losing as if it wasn't possible.

Emi Saito his opponent walked onto the platform equally as confident her expression was almost perfectly impassive but the confident grin that tugged at her lips was hard to miss.

The duel swiftly commenced with Davey showing a very classical approach to dueling, he style was directly from what he has been taught.

No variation or creativity.

But, that is not always a bad thing. The style being taught to him was reliable and perfectly curated to face any number of opponents.

Unlucky for him it seemed Emi was the complete opposite of him. She used a variety of spells and was unpredictable at every move making it hard for Davey to defend himself properly.

A sheen of sweat began to form on his brow as he defended against another onslaught of spells Davey tried and tried to find an opening but found himself stuck as Emi constantly moved around the platform attacking from different directions.

Finally Davey lost his patience and he attempted to counter-attack, before he could utter the incantation his wand was blasted from his hand and clattered onto the platform floor.

"What?" he whispered looking at his empty hand and back to the fallen wand

"EMI SAITO WINS!" the judge announced bringing the brutal reality upon the young duelist

He lost and it was barely a fight.

Davey picked up his wand and rejoined his classmates his head was hung down in shame, he felt embarrassed so so embarrassed.

As he rejoined his classmates Professor Abara walked over to his side, "You dueld well don't think otherwise, sometimes we learn more from our losses than our victories. Merlin knows how many times I've lost a duel do not be embarrassed Davey," he said warmly in encouragement

"Thanks," Davey replied forcing a smile upon his face

Abara patted him on the back, "Get to your friends now, and if you really want to improve come talk to me when we are back at Hogwarts,"

"Thanks," Davey said this time more sincerely before rejoining his friends

"Don't beat yourself up over this loss Davey," Amelia said with a kind smile

"Ahh, should have practiced more " he sighed in frustration

"This is only our second duel, this is the practice now you know what to improve on," Amelia pointed out

"Your right," he nodded before thanking her

"No need to thank me," she said with a small smile

"Amelia Bones versus Kohana Mori!" the judge announced

"Good luck!" Davey yelled as she walked toward the platform

As the dueling courtyard at Mahoutokoro School of Magic buzzed with anticipation, the atmosphere crackled with energy as Amelia and Kohana, two skilled fourth-year students, prepared to showcase their magical abilities.

The audience watched with rapt attention as the dueling instructor raised his wand. "Ready, set, duel!" he announced, and the duel commenced.

Amelia wasted no time, casting a stunning "Stupefy" spell towards Kohana, hoping to catch her off guard. But Kohana was quick to react, transfiguring the stone around her into a shimmering shield that deflected the spell harmlessly away.

Undeterred, Amelia shifted tactics, conjuring a thick fog to obscure Kohana's vision. With a wave of her wand, she cast "Obscuro", creating a dense mist that enveloped her opponent. Kohana struggled to see through the haze, her movements becoming hesitant as she attempted to locate Amelia.

But Kohana was not one to be easily thwarted. With a swift motion of her ring-bearing hand, she transfigured the mist into a flock of dazzling butterflies, their iridescent wings scattering the fog and revealing Amelia's location. Kohana's spell, "Chōhen", showcased her mastery of Transfiguration, turning the tide of the duel in her favor.

Amelia, sensing the shift in momentum, decided to take a risk. Channeling her magical energy, she cast "Incendio" towards the ground behind Kohana's feet. But instead of conjuring a medium-sized flame, she overpowered the spell creating a giant wall of flames behind Kohana effectively making the platform smaller

Caught off guard by Amelia's unexpected use of the spell, Kohana stumbled forward, momentarily disoriented. Sensing an opportunity, Amelia pressed her advantage, summoning ropes to bind her opponent. With a flick of her wand, she cast "Incarcerous!"

Kohana ran forward and then slid under the ropes before waving her hand and shooting off several spells in Amelia's direction.

Amelia's eyes widened briefly before she quickly dodged out of the way, careful not to get struck.

"Stupefy!" she yelled pointing her wand at Kohana

Kohana quickly jumped out of the way returning spell fire by transfiguring the ground beneath Amelia into mud and then quickly firing her own stunning spells.

Amelia felt her feet sink into the mud and realized she couldn't dodge, "Repello!" she yelled repelling the spell before pointing her wand to the side, "Flipendo!" she incanted knocking herself out of the mud and rolling on the floor indirectly dodging another spell

Amelia pivoted on the ground picking herself up and immediately shooting off a disarming spell and a stunner.

The two witches went back and forth trading spells, dodging, and blocking.

"STUPEFY!"

"Kizetsu!"

The two witches yelled in unison exhaustion clear on their faces, both spells arced through the air, and both witches tried to move out of the way but it was for naught the spells were too fast as they both gave it their all.

The audience let out a cry of surprise as both witches were impacted by the spells and stunned in place.

"TIE!" the judge yelled before casting finite on both of the duelists
