17 The Plan Unfolds - Book 1

The next day, lunch.

Lucas was waiting for Bridget Quaid in the great hall again. Eventually she came, as always alone, and just like the day before she crossed paths with him on her way out, but this time she also stopped unnaturally for a moment, like a puppet without any free will. Lucas had given her a simple command, to come to the library while dinner was served. Afterwards they split up and walked their own ways. She went wherever she normally went, and he walked to the usual place, the RoR.

A few hours later and after a shower Lucas was reading a book in the library, when all the other students made their way out towards the great hall to get a bite, he was waiting for Bridget. The slytherin walked into the library with a confused look, not knowing exactly why she was here. She had this strange feeling, like she was missing something or lost something in the library.

Lucas seeing her patiently watched her, until she looked over to him. Her eyes lost their life and she walked mechanically over to him. He smiled at her and stood up as well. Grabbing his book and the slytherin in tow they made their way over to the librarian. While walking over there he surveilled the room one a last time, making sure no one else was present.

Now standing before the librarian, he once again invaded her mind, stopping her from forming any memories of what would occur henceforth and forcing her to accept the pass to the restricted section without asking any questions.

Bridget walked around the counter and into the restricted section, which Ms Pince had opened. Lucas meanwhile waited in a corner under a disillusionment charm. After an hour the slytherin came back out and walked towards Lucas. There he invaded her mind, stripping her off of anything she had seen in there, leaving her with a memory gap, which he filled with her aimlessly wandering around searching for something, but not finding it. The librarian was currently taking a short nap and would wake up again in a few minutes, enough time for Lucas and Bridget to leave. Which they did. The slytherin would wake up from her condition on her way back to her dormitory in a few minutes as well.

This all wouldn't have needed to be this complicated if Dumbledore just had let him be.

Lucas calmly and nonchalantly walked to the great hall to grab a bite and show himself to the other students, in order to create an alibi if Dumbledore ever suspected him.

"Hi Lucas." Susan shily greeted him, while Hannah slack jawed looked at her friend.

"Good evening to you too, Susan." Lucas said back, "as well as you Hannah. How was your day?"

Hannah the usual talkative person was too surprised at Susan's abnormal behaviour and would later asked her a million questions.

Lucas made some small talk with them as well as the other Hufflepuffs around, before going back to his dorm.

Now laying in his bed he closed his eyes and relieved the hour of memories he had gotten from Bridget.

She was tasked to find a book and look at every single page before coming back out, it didn't matter which book she would choose, because Lucas planned to do this more often, with other people.

What she had chosen was a book called "Magical Theory and Practice: Forbidden Arts", which was a book delving into a variety of dark spells. It wasn't an educational book, more like a collection of spells that the author liked. Nothing that useful to him, like the book he got last year, but it had its uses.

Here is a short summary of a few spells:

There were some heavy hitting spells mixed in there, as well as useless ones. It sounded more useful than it actually was for Lucas, because of his special way of using magic. It just gave him an example on how to use esoteric magic, Most of these spells were ridiculously advanced, far above NEWT-level spells. 'I guess there was a reason this book was in the restricted section.'

Nonetheless, it gave him a glimpse at what he could be facing in the future, if Dumbledore hadn't already reduced the wizarding world's magic level to next to nothing. At least Voldemort should be at this level, if not higher. Over the summer, he had discovered that the majority of wizards tend to plateau at the NEWT-level, showing little inclination to pursue further advancement. In his perspective, it was sad to see such a precious gift being squandered simply because many had grown accustomed to magic and no longer appreciated its true value.

Adding to the frustration, Dumbledore had spent the past decade attempting to limit access to advanced and, in his opinion, potentially dangerous magic.

I might change the spells later.
