The wind whipped Alex's hair as he lazily glided through the sky. His eyes still focused on the broom beneath him as slowly flew around at first, soaking in the feeling of his body being free from the clutches of gravity.
"So, Isn't this fun?" Harry spoke as he whizzed past Alex. It's been more than a week since Alex came into the Potter family. The easiest difference that he could describe about life now from before was comfort.
For the first time in a long time, he wasn't expected to do anything. He had grown used to a monotonous routine so without any express tasks he had to complete, he was puzzled at what to do just the second day of his arrival.
Even for magic, which was a core part of the wizarding society, he wasn't encouraged to learn, Alex looked at Ron and Neville who had come to visit today. All three of them were very different from their canon self. Well two of them were, Ron was kind of still the same.
Harry wasn't the nervous wreck who was afraid of the world, maybe it was the knowledge that he was the boy who lived that was the result of the change, or maybe it was growing up with a stable family around him. Neville similarly stood a little taller, his eyes filled with mischief.
'Having grown up around Sirius and James is a seriously bad influence. If all three of them get sorted into Gryffindor which they will. I think they would start staging pranks and make another group like the Marauders...' Alex thought, he simply observed the game of tag that they were playing on the brooms.
To Alex, this screamed unnecessary danger but even he could appreciate how fun and liberating it was to fly around. The broom which he was expecting to give him a wedgie, had a cushioning feel to it. Sitting on the broom, he felt like he was sitting on a sofa which just seemed unreal.
At the same time, the broom was controlled by the way he shifted his weight, leaning forward would make the broom accelerate, and leaning backward would make the broom decelerate. Pulling the broom upward would trigger the broom to activate one of its patented emergency brakes, which were quite strong and he had to hold the broom close in order to not slide off.
The closest experience that Alex could compare it to would be to ride a motorcycle, or the barebones fundamentals of a normal bicycle. Except for the greater mobility that this thing hand. He gripped the broom tightly and then tried to roll around like a drill. The broom easily obeyed his instructions as Alex felt the anti-gravity runic scheme come into effect.
The centripetal force acting on his body was nullified as he simply continued the turn and turned upright. An excited grin appeared on his face as he gripped the broom tightly and leaned closer, the broom started to accelerate as he pointed it straight upward.
'In the movies, I saw Harry was able to move into the clouds, I wonder if I could go past that and look at the sky...' Alex thought as he slowly approached.
Although in most animation movies it is shown that the clouds make a splash whenever someone goes through them, nothing like that happened. His vision was obscured for a few seconds before he rose above the cloud belt.
The view wasn't as amazing as he was expecting, but maybe he should try in the night. He took a moment to look at the sea of clouds in front of him before he started to feel shortness of breath.
'Right, too high up.' Alex leaned down and shot into the sea once again. He lazily spiraled down, his eyes taking in the whole Potter estate as he looked around. Except for the forest, nothing was interesting around here, looking at the remote area they were in, Alex understood the reason for the need for a fireplace room to receive guests.
He cushioned his landing by pulling the broom upward before his feet landed on the ground, James and Sirius were already in front of him looking at him with wide grins. At first, Alex became aware of a possible prank as he looked around for any spells flying at him.
"So how was it, your first flight?" James asked, he was practically giddy. Sirius nodded along while Lily was standing behind them with a book in her hands.
'Huh, she's quiet like Hermione in that regard...' Alex thought.
"It felt good, freeing..." Alex replied honestly, he wasn't built for extreme speeds but letting go once in a while felt good. His body though felt refreshed, Alex wasn't sure but maybe it was the fact that his counterpart had worked for years training to be a professional footballer so he was fitter than most kids his age.
"So what do you think, want me to teach you how to play quidditch?" James asked.
"Hell no, I meant it is a nice way to take a refresher, release your stress kind of beat," Alex spoke, he was interested in quidditch but not if it meant that he would have to go through a bonding session with James.
"I'm tired, I feel like taking a short nap," Alex spoke as he yawned and started walking back.
"See you guys at dinner!" He shouted as he walked away, he was aware that there were several eyes following his departure but he ignored them. He wasn't here with the potters for a bonding session. His parents although a bit flawed were his parents.
Since he didn't have the real Alex's memories he didn't feel the need to bond with James and Lily, Sirius though was surprisingly free from those shackles, he was okay to hang around.
'Never mind that my mana is close to filling up again, I should drain it once again.' Alex thought as he closed the door to his room. He pulled his wand out of his inventory.
Through the last week, he had explored the gamer system that he had available, it was okay. It wasn't the full powers from The Gamer Manhwa, there was no map. HP wasn't a thing and the leveling system was different. But he could deal with this. He closed the 10x10 grid with a thought and flicked his wand at his pillow.
'Wingardium Leviosa~' Alex thought. The pillow started floating, he jumped and turned around mid-air, collapsing on the bed and sinking into it. The pillow floated in front of him and he pulled up the info for the levitation charm again.

[Levitation Charm (Tier II): Level 9 {213/450}]
[The Levitation charm was one of the simplest magic that used continuous mana consumption. One of the easiest tools to drain your mana at a lower level, the control and stability of the charm depends on the caster's focus.]
[Mana Cost: 1 Mana/5Sec]
[Level 5 Bonus: Can be cast silently]
...
Alex focused inside his mana nodes and saw them slowly sucking in mana from the veins, it was a gradual process and he tried to stop his mana from moving. Like every time, nothing happened. Alex didn't know if something was wrong with him, but his mana did not follow his instructions.
From all the novels he had read or the shows he had watched, controlling your internal energy or mana was a very important factor. But here for some reason, his mana never responded to his intent. It felt like a muscle that he didn't know how to use, and no matter how much he tried it didn't work.
With all the options exhausted, he could only look forward to the Hogwarts Library providing some solutions. He has had some grand plans regarding the Potter Library but the books in the manor were kid-friendly, maybe James and Lily removed them for fear of them stumbling on a book detailing dark magic. Whatever the case was, it left Alex with no other option but to focus on his own course books.
Since he didn't have any problems with Legilemency with the Gamers mind protecting him, he focused all his time and mana on learning and mastering spells.
'Spells,' Alex thought with the intent to open up the spells tab. A list of spells he had learned in the last week appeared in front of him.

AN - I was going for a full-time skip to the end of the month at first but then decided against it, I don't want the transition to be too rough. However, in the next chapter, we will be at the end of the month. The story will slow down after that though, I just don't want to write 10 chapters of an awkward month with the Potters.
