Hanazono: Heiress

Lavalee Flamelinne Hanazono, the second born and heir to the large multi-trillion Hanazono Empire, is not your typical heiress. Beneath her often irritating and frowned-upon spoiled and brat-like appearance and ways, she carries a heavy burden and a scarred heart. No matter how free and how ideal her almost perfect life appears in front of everyone, from the moment she had stepped into the world, her arms and feet had been bounded by chains. These chains not only restrict her from stepping into the light by holding her back into the shadows, but it also wraps around her heart. An inescapable obligation passed down behind the curtains from generation to generation in their family, an obligation that robbed her, and her whole family, of the chance to make great childhood memories. She had learned to live in a way that she doesn't hurt herself with the chains she's bounded to but this is about to change. “What I am doesn’t define who I am.” May it be the will of fate or simply mere coincidence, she will cross paths with a person who is her complete opposite. Even though he is walking in the path she can never walk in, his and her life will soon be entangled in a knot that tightens the more they try to step away from each other. She whose hands are tainted with the blood of many people, she who wears a crown of authority, power, and responsibility, she who keeps a whole empire steady, and she who had her heart surrounded by metal to avoid getting swayed from her duties. He who belongs to the world that Lavalee wanted to return to but can’t, he who mandates the laws that her world breaks, and he who has the courage to open Lavalee’s heart again. “Who said it’s going to be easy?” Indeed, it won’t be easy.

RFA Foundation Day

_Lavalee Flamelinne Hanazono's Point of View_

I was woken up by the sound of my phone's ringtone, so I reached for my phone. and slid the answer button after checking the caller ID and time.

"Come in," I said still laying on my bed and not even bothering to sit

"Problem?" he asked when he entered my room

There's a pin lock, yes, but I trusted him enough to tell him the pass and I hope he won't break that.

"Nothing," I said and covered myself with the blanket

"Hey, get up," he said and pulled my blanket down

"Leave me alone," I grunted and pulled my blanket

"You asked me to help you." He reminded making me glare at him

"It's too early," I pointed out and he sat on my bed

"It's four-thirty in the morning." He said and pulled my arms to make me sit up

"Come on, don't act like a brat. You're not one." He said and pushed my forehead with his finger

"I'm still sleepy," I said and tried to lay back on my bed again but he's holding my arm to stop me

"Your eyes are puffy," He said and I covered my eyes

"You'll need more than one layer of concealer for that." He said and let me go

"Damn you," I cursed at him and I felt his hand tapping my lips lightly

"No profanities, Flamelinne." He warned and I looked at him in disbelief

"What the heck is your problem, Dreice?" I glared at him and he reached for my phone

"Oh, if you'd look at that, it's already four forty-five am. We wasted fifteen minutes." He said and I grunted before pushing him off my bed.

I fixed my bed and I heard the door closing.

Now, I'm regretting that I asked him to help me learn chores.

Regrets really come last, damn it.

When I went out of my room, I saw that they're all awake and they're all seated at the table so I sat beside Jace.

"Ohayo!" I greeted them and started eating

After eating, Jace held my hand to stop me from leaving the dining room

He helped me clean up the table and bring the plates and cutleries to the sink.

"Now, time for evaluation." He said while looking at the dishes

"What? What evaluation?" I asked him while blinking

"You're going to wash the dishes," he motioned to the plates

"Huh? What for? We have a dishwasher...?" I blinked in confusion and he gave me a deadpan look before giving me rubber gloves

"Hey, what am I supposed to..." I trailed off while looking at him and the rubber gloves he gave me alternately

"We'll wash the dishes," he said and assisted me in wearing the rubber gloves

He stood next to me and started washing the dishes so I mimicked his actions.

"Now, arrange it after you wash it," he said and dried his hands using a hand towel

"Arrange it where exactly?" I asked him and raised my brow

"In here," he opened the dishwasher and I looked at him in disbelief

"Are you serious?" I asked him and he nodded before pulling out the racks from the dishwasher

He clapped his hands after I successfully arranged the dishes.

"Go get ready," He said and I rushed up to my room.

We were the last ones to leave the mansion, it was already half past seven when we left.

Next week, the maids and butlers will be returning because Nii-sama said that two weeks is enough time for studying chores.

Also, today is the first day of the RFA foundation day, and we're late.

I can't believe I'm late for my own school's Foundation Day!

"Dreice, come on drive faster," I told him

"I'm not beating the red light," he pointed at the traffic light

"Well, I'm almost late," I reasoned out

"Late or not, I'm not breaking the law." He said and I almost rolled my eyes

I almost forgot that he's a freaking police officer, thanks. Note the sarcasm.

"But I'm supposed to give a speech before the start of the Foundation day..." I complained

"And whose fault is it that we're late?" he asked

"Yours because you asked me to wash the dishes even when we have a fucking -" I glared at him because he covered my mouth

"Watch your language," he warned and I rolled my eyes

"Fine," I groaned after removing his hand

"Even when we have a dishwasher," I said

"Why RFA?" he suddenly asked when the light turned green

"Because it's mine," I replied without any second thought

"Huh, hence, the name," he commented

"It was a gift, our parents gave it to me when I turned seven." I said and crossed my arms over my chest

When we arrived at school, I immediately pulled him in the direction where the stalls have been set up.

"You know, you're so lazy, miss ma'am."

I saw Ares on the school grounds and he looked at our hands, so I immediately let go

"I'm going to report you to your brother! You're just flirting here too." He said so I rolled my eyes

"I'm not," I denied while placing my hands on my waist

"Why are you here anyway?" I asked him

"Doing your job?" he asked sarcastically so I sighed

Yeah, right, then I have to give the speech for tonight's RFA Foundation Week Initiation Night, assuming that he's the one who gave the speech to mark the first morning of RFA's Foundation Week.

We spent the whole day doing various activities and stalls.

There will be scavenger hunts, shooting range, obstacle courses, duels, mazes, races, quiz bees, and other things, but all those will begin tomorrow, after the initiation night.

"Is your speech ready though?" Ares asked me

"I've long prepared for the Initiation Night, Ares," I replied

"Well, I might as well oversee everything since you seem to have a plan to spend this day having a date with this ice bloke here," Ares said and I rolled my eyes

"Or you know that you can't relate to college students because you've graduated," I remarked and he threw a glare at me before leaving

"Initiation Night, huh?" Jace asked and I turned to him with a smile

"Yeah, RFA's director has to give a speech yearly," I replied

"These past years I would just send some representatives since I can't be everywhere at the same time and I was busy studying, but tonight will be different, my speech tonight will be sent to every branch of RFA to be broadcasted," I said while watching the students do the challenges

When it was already 6 PM, the stalls began closing one by one, we met up with the rest of the group in the field where there is a stage for events like this.

They decorated the stage very well, as I can say and only those with clubs are allowed to put up stalls earlier so all of the stalls really are packed because if I remember correctly there are only 20 clubs in the whole school, minus the Academic Clubs and the Student Council who are responsible for the dedication booth.

Not because this is a school for Underground members it means they don't love, of course, they also have some attractions and affections for some students.

We are still humans even though we are part of the dark side of the world, it's just that it's seen as a sign of weakness, usually.

"You're here," Ares said when he saw me

"Aren't you supposed to be preparing?" Jess asked and pointed at me and Ares

"Supposed to be, I have to prepare, Lavalee should too," Ares said and left

He left so I went to the School Directress' office which is actually vacant because I am the school Directress.

Surprise, surprise, yeah, I'm the school director because there is no one to take on the job.

I saw a paper bag and took it, then I remembered that Jace is still here so I asked him to leave me for a moment so I could change.

I changed into a red dress that is long at the back but two inches above my knee in the front.

I allowed my hair to fall down my back and told Jace that he can come in.

I gave him a mask, this time in a mixture of red and black colors.

"What?" I asked him and rolled my eyes before continuing my make up

"How do I look?" I asked him after wearing my mask

He went near and fixed my mask I can feel his breath on my face.

"Are you – Damn!" we looked at Ares who's looking at us maliciously

"We're ready," Jace said and they went behind me

Both of them are wearing a mask though Jace's mask is identical to mine.

When we arrived at the back of the stage in the open field.

The night is dark and the only light is from the spotlight and the huge campfire on the side.

It will be used in the activity later.

"Let us welcome the founder and person behind Red Fire Academy, we are honored to have her presence. Ms. Lavalee Hanazono!" I walked slowly up the stage and took the microphone from Jaxith

Jaxith and Icarus are the emcees, I don't know why though.
