Chapter 9 Sandman and Death

[A/N:Sandman and Death won't behave as same as their DC counter part,also If I make any mistakes do forgive me.]

Harland then used the Skin Key to change his appearance to an African-American man,he stayed that way for the rest of his life even after saving Delacourte.As to avoid taboos of having an interracial relationship in the 1850s,he was happy with just staying Delacorte.

Hadrian was now back at the Peverell Mansion and was drinking the fire whisky he created,but it was then he sensed a powerful presence behind he could easily tell this was not someone to mess with.Also he felt this person was similar to Death,as he asked"What can do for you,sir?"

As he turned around to see the presence,it was man with messy black hair, his all-black outfit.He had very glum expression.

The stranger was stoic spoke up"So you are the companion of my sister.I seen many dreams about you."

Hadrian was confused and asked"Dreams...sister....I don't understand."

The stranger smiled and said"Ohh you may know my sister as Death."

Hadrian knew Death was women having seen her form before,but Death having a brother was new since Death wasn't really one for talks about personal life.

Hadrian decided to take question"You are?"

The stranger once again smiled and replied"I am Dream one of the seven Endless.I am the lord and personification of all dreams and stories, and all that is not in reality."

Hadrian gulped he knew this was not someone to mess with as he asked"So what can I do for you my Lord."

Dream or Sandman started talking"I always wondered about humanity. Their attitude to my sister's gift is so strange. Why do they fear the sunless lands? It is as natural to die as it is to be born. But they fear her. Dread her. Feebly they attempt to placate her."as turned to Hadrian and continued"But this was the first time she gave immortality to a human and being a guardian and ruler of the Dreaming,I have access to all stories ever told.I know almost everything, including how the Omniverse was created and the stories yet to be told.So I found your story the Boy who lived interesting."

Hadrian wasn't shocked much hearing after this was cosmic entity,so him knowing everything about you isn't far fetched.As Dream said"Don't be scared,I won't do anything to you.But it's just I want something from you."

Hadrian blinked in surprise as Dream simply said"I want you to be my companion,you don't have much to do."

But before he could finish the surrounding turned cold a women with gothic clothes and slightly place skin,she had black messy hair like Dream this was Death in her human form,who frowned and said"Dream you are not taking away my companion."

Dream was still expression less simply replied"He could easily be an Avatar to both of us."

Death glared and said"No,you can't do that."

Dream replied"I could give him some of my abilities for his service."

Death frowned she could see Dream really wanted Hadrian to work for him,even if it is just small time thing as she asked"What abilities?"

Death never gave Hadrian any powers as she felt he didn't need anything in this low level universe,but since Dream was giving she should do the same,but she would have to place restrictions as in this universe Hadrian could be considered one of strongest beings.

Dream was thoughtful spoke up"I will give him some of my Sand of Sleep.While they have restrictions you can't bring dreams into the real world without my permission."

The Sand Of Sleep are sands can put others to sleep. It is capable of releasing dreams into the real world.

Hadrian was thoughtful could having more power hurt and being Dreams companion didn't look bad,as he looked at Death who just nodded and said"Take it,this will help yup lot in future.Also if anyone of my other siblings come you will atleast have some more protection."

Hadrian after hearing this agreed,it was simple process as now Hadrian had symbol of Dream on his hand similar to Death on the other.

Hadrian questioned"So what is my Job?"

Dream replied"You have destroy rogue nightmares.These are beings created by me,but after going rogue, and failing to fulfill his original design.I need them removed."

Hadrian nodded as Dream continued"They are present in this universe,but they can't materialize into this plane of existence without restrictions placed on them use the sand to destroy them and you magic will also cause them harm now."

After the brief discussion Dream disappeared like sand in air.

Death after dream was gone spoke"Now I have gifts of my own."

Gift of Death which is the power to free the soul of a body and send a soul to its appropriate destination (usually an afterlife or reincarnation). Death often leaves this task to various Death Gods.But again some restrictions,you can't send all souls to reincarnation or Afterlife.

Another was Gift of Life: Death apparently is also there at the time of ones birth and can infuse a body with life. She commonly does this at the time of birth or at certain times to give another a second chance (reincarnation).Again this has restriction only if Death gives the approval that Hadrian could bring them back to life.
