On Sunday morning, Bell properly stretched his body, which had been inactive all week. After breaking a sweat, he felt refreshed. After a brief rest, Bell once again entered the Spell Training Room.
Pushing open the door to the training room, he could see three house elves busy inside.
"Kelsar, how's the preparation going?" Bell asked the closest house elf.
These three house elves had come to replace Lym. After Bell was discharged from the hospital last Sunday, Lym returned home to receive punishment.
"We're just doing the final check, Master. It'll take about 5 more minutes," Kelsar replied excitedly.
He hadn't expected to personally serve Master Bell one day. It was widely recognized among the house elves of the Minexil family that serving Master Bell was the most honorable job, and Lym had always been the envy of all the house elves.
When they learned that Lym was being punished by Master Bell and might be reassigned, countless house elves were excited. And these three temporary spots were highly sought after. After all, even if they couldn't become Master Bell's exclusive house elf, being familiar with Master Bell and even receiving his commendation would greatly increase their chances of future contact with him.
Kelsar was considered an excellent member among the house elves of the Minexil family. But even so, he had to put in a lot of effort to compete for one of these three spots.
Soon, 5 minutes had passed, everything was ready, and Bell was ready to start his modification of the Ferocious Fire spell.
Bell walked to the center of the training ground, closed his eyes slightly, and activated the Brain Occlusion spell to its fullest extent in his mind, slowly recalling the feeling of anger from the last experiment. The anger began to burn in his heart, and Bell carefully controlled his emotions to prevent reckless behavior.
After a few minutes, Bell felt it was almost enough, so he suddenly opened his eyes and pointed his wand at the distant target.
"Ferocious Fire!"
A greenish-blue flame spewed from the tip of Bell's wand, but after flying about 20 meters, it fizzled out, not even touching the target.
Obviously, Bell had failed. He couldn't even ignite a proper Ferocious Fire spell.
Because some spells required emotions to be injected during casting, some spells could reflect a part of the wizard's characteristics. The most famous examples are Patronus charms and Animagus transformations. The same spell cast by different wizards would manifest in different forms.
Similarly, Ferocious Fire worked the same way. The color of the Ferocious Fire ignited by different wizards would be different. The greenish-blue fire Bell had just ignited was the impression of Grindelwald's Ferocious Fire in his mind. So, the flame he just cast was just an imitation of Grindelwald's Ferocious Fire.
The first failure didn't discourage Bell; he didn't think it would be easy to succeed.
Bell closed his eyes again, this time for a longer period. The raging anger in his heart grew stronger until the Brain Occlusion spell was on the verge of collapse. Then, he stopped.
"Ferocious Fire!"
A fiercely burning black-red flame shot across a distance of 50 meters, enveloping the target with a thunderous roar. In the blink of an eye, the specially reinforced target, inscribed with anti-magic runes, turned to ash.
Instead of extinguishing, the black-red flame spread rapidly in all directions. From the speed of the flame's spread, it was clear that if not stopped, the space in the room would collapse in less than a minute.
"Quick, act!" Kelsar shouted.
The three house elves simultaneously waved their wands, activating the runes inscribed on the walls, floor, and ceiling, forming a "Termination of All Spells" barrier.
The barrier enclosed Bell's Ferocious Fire, then began to shrink inward. However, the process was not smooth. In order to successfully cast the Ferocious Fire spell, Bell had truly pushed himself to the limit this time. So, when the spell finally took shape, he accidentally used too much magic, resulting in an increase in the power of the Ferocious Fire.
The barrier and the Ferocious Fire were deadlocked, pulling and pushing, lasting for about 10 minutes before the weakening Ferocious Fire finally showed signs of collapse and gradually extinguished.
Seeing the Ferocious Fire extinguished, Bell finally relaxed, and sat down on the ground, his heart hanging in his throat.
"Master! Are you alright?"
The house elves hurried over, helping Bell up.
"I'm fine, just a bit drained by accident. I'll rest for a while, and you tidy up over there, and replace the target."
Sitting on the sofa in the rest area, Bell asked the house elves casually, "How much magic did we consume just now, is it still sufficient?"
"I'm sorry, Master. We've consumed about half of our magic just now. Considering the possibility of accidents, our magic is already insufficient. We're useless! Please punish us, Master!" the house elves apologized.
"Don't worry about it; you did well just now. Safety comes first. Looks like I can rest a bit longer."
Bell waved his hand casually and began to ponder the problem he had encountered.
His top priority now was to find the minimum anger threshold needed to cast the Ferocious Fire and increase the casting speed. Of course, the issue of casting speed couldn't be rushed and required long-term training and habituation. Determining the anger threshold would be relatively simpler, requiring continuous experimentation, with the rest left to luck.
After resting, Bell continued his experiments. This time, he chose to gradually increase the anger threshold from low to high. This way, the pressure on himself and the house elves would be greatly reduced.
The reason Bell had pushed himself to the limit before was to determine if his current abilities were sufficient to cast a true Ferocious Fire. After confirming this, there was no need to overexert himself.
Time flew by when one was fully focused. After being reminded by Kelsar, Bell realized that it was already getting late.
A day passed in the blink of an eye, and Bell was somewhat dissatisfied with the results of today's experiments. He found that the most pressing issue for him now was that the "Brain Occlusion" spell was not at a high enough level.
Bell had always thought that his "Brain Occlusion" spell was very proficient. Although there was still a long way to go to become a master like Snape in "Brain Occlusion," he didn't need to be a double agent, and no one would casually use Legilimency to peer into his mind, so it should be good enough.
But during today's experiment, he found that it took too long to adjust his emotions, and the accuracy was too low. Especially towards the end, the repeated switches between anger and calm made Bell feel like he was about to have a mental breakdown.
Feeling like he was reaching his limit, Bell decisively stopped today's experiment and decided to go back and get a good night's sleep, leaving any problems for tomorrow.
