Something in the dark.

The smile that had been gone for days appeared once more one her face though faint but made her look gorgeous as they ate the food Linda prepared. They couple hadn't seen her smile since her arrival, Manuel wanted to ask why her eyes turned black the other day since she seemed to be on a light mood today but held himself back and smile back at Lily. " Do you like the food dear?" Linda asked, "Yes, it's nice" Lily said. They smile at the sound of her voice. " Try some dessert, I made them just for you" Manuel took a spoon to serve her.

Lily was seated on the chair that faced the living room while her new parents sat at both her sides. A strange structure caught her attention in the living room. She recall how the living room looked like in the day time and there was no tall object in that position, however it felt to her as though they were being watched.

Linda noticed that Lily was gradually becoming uneasy. She followed the direction of Lily's gaze to the living room but could see nothing, she looked back at Lily placing her hand over the hers " Lily" her voice was soft and filled was concern " What's wrong? What are you looking at?". Lily raised her hands pointing to the direction of the strange object. Linda and Manuel looked to the living room but could see nothing. " There's something there " Lily told them, " In the dark, there's something there" she repeated. Both confused, Manuel took a his flash light and went into the parlor, shun the light around but could find nothing odd in the living room. See that there was nothing there even in the direction she pointed, fear gripped her, she was trembling ' but I saw something there' she wondered ' why did no one else see it?'. Manuel and his wife were concerned and thought maybe it was due to trauma of what happened to her family.

" Lily" the voice came like a whisper into her ears sitting at the dining table. She turned left and right but nothing, she asked both Manuel and his wife if they had called her name but they didn't. " Lily" the voice seemed to be coming from the kitchen which was behind her. She turned to the direction just to meet the same structure which stood in the living room moments ago. Startled by it, she shut her eyes, counted to five ' one, two, three, four, five ', opened her eyes and it wasn't far in the kitchen, it was even closer. Fear caused her to flicker backward almost falling to the ground but was caught by Manuel. They looked round to what would have startled her but could find nothing strange.

" Lily" it called out to her again, this time from the passage leading to the rooms. Leave Manuel's arms she turned to look in the direction and right there in the dark she could see it. " Lily what's wrong? Talk to us dear", she could hear them calling out to her in the distance, she could feel the cold sweat on her body, and just like that every thing faded away to nothing but darkness.
