Chapter 4

- One moon later

- Jaehaerys POV

I am finally ready to leave, in that time I have increased my training and spent even more time with my brothers and Arya, for which I also made a parting gift for her.

I asked her to make a needle for me, jonJon had already made the sword design a while ago and planned to give it to Arya when she was older, but now it was my time to go.

And I have the perfect excuse now, you might be wondering, what?

Lady Stark has been torturing me even more this time, she has noticed that I have become more dedicated in reading the books and in class, she thinks I am planning to usurp Robb, and this dedication is only to fool the others...

Even the harp I bought was made of wood for the training she broke when she caught me playing, she took advantage of Lord Stark leaving for some meeting with the Mormonts about the Greyjoys or something.

That's why I should go now because, with Lord Stark gone, I have a better chance of not having anyone chasing me, I'm good at erasing my tracks..., but I don't want to risk it, and I count on Lady Stark's help in sending the worst trackers since she's been praying for a long time for me to get out of her sight.

After packing up everything, even my mother's belongings, I hide the chest in one of my hiding places, I don't want Lord stark to know that I found them.

Taking a trunk will be too much trouble, so I'll leave it here and take it back next time.

Looking one last time at my room, I make my way outside, and cannot help but think of my farewell to Arya.

When everyone has gone to their quarters I go to Arya's, after picking up needle from my room to give to her.

I know she must be suspicious about my plans, but I think my words must have given her some calm, and my promise that I would take her as my squire when she was older.

Sigh...

I will miss her.

My thoughts end when I am surprised by two people standing under a tree in my path, an old woman and a giant.

Old Nan and Hordor.

I stand looking at the two of them and see that Hordor seems ready to travel as well, and I am confused.

My confusion ends when Nan speaks: "little wolf, I know what journey you are going on and I have long waited for this moment, the day when the wolf would break out of its shackles and truly fly like a Dragon. I know about you, have always known and have always waited for you, the song of ice and fire. Son of my precious Lyanna and Rhaegar, it was impossible for me not to recognize your little one."

Jaehaerys: "how?"

Nan: "we don't need to have this conversation, time is short my prince. I have already prepared two horses for you" she points to a black horse and another large horse that must be for Hordo, she continues "I know about your talents, and I have also prepared two eagles for you, both are already ready to be used and loyal to you.

I also ask that you take Walder with you, with your talent I know you can heal my precious baby, he will be loyal to you, for this has always been my grandson's journey and his destiny, to protect you. He always wanted to be a knight, so I hope you can fulfill my Walder's dreams, I know you have questions, but we don't have time. Just know that every mind has a door, and you can open it if you so choose. And a word of advice my prince, do not among us crows, they already have owners."

I nod my head still confused by all this, but I can only thank her for her help, and maybe I know how to help Ho- Walder, I speak, "thank you for your help...can I make a request?"

She smiles at me and says, "you don't need to ask me anything, I already know about your request, and I will protect the gang, I won't let those children go south, I promise you. I will not fail them the way I failed bran and lya, that I promise you." She finishes speaking would be, but a bit of sadness passes in her eyes at the mention of my mother and probably my Uncle Brandon.

Jae: "thank you, I have so many questions for you..." she stops me and speaks, "when you fly back, that's when the questions will be answered, go child, there is no more time."

She pushes me to the horses and Walder is already waiting for me on his, I take Ghost in my arms and put him in the saddle, and then I climb on.

He's already pretty big, but I'm not going to let him wander off while we're running away.

I make my horse ride ahead and stop to look back, and I see Walder with tears on his face as he bids farewell to Nan, and then he follows me.

And then I see the eagles she spoke of in two birdhouses attached to Walder's horse.

And so we begin our little journey to the wall, I want to say goodbye to my two uncles first.

- Days later

I think it has been two weeks since we left Winterfell, traveling through well-hidden places and routes within the forest, dangerous, but practical to hide from prying eyes or possible trackers.

In this time I have been creating hauls with the two eagles and with my new horse, a Coursers black as night, it is big for a steed, but this did not slow it down at all, it only made it an even better horse.

In my memories, Jaehaerys is a born horseman and can ride even better than the horse gods of essos, he seems to become one with the horse.

I have already written the letters that I will send to my uncle, I will guide the eagle, but it is not necessary as it listens to me and follows my command, it seems to have been very well trained and accepts warg with ease.

Ghost has grown a lot again, but he still needs to grow more and I hope he will reach the height of a big dog before he reaches White Harbor.

And one of the coolest things? It was something I had already tested the month before, which is immunity to fire or ice.

It's an amazing feeling to stand in fire and not be burned or to walk so deep into the North and not feel much of it, and one of the reasons is that I've been getting warmer recently and colder at the same time.

I think it must be fire and ice magic, I know I have both because I can make fire out of nothing, and the same for ice, I can't do anything too big yet because it needs a lot of training for that, so I can't make a giant fireball or an ice sword.

And finally, we get close enough, after making camp I decide to send the message to my uncle during the night as it is the best time as the guards are a bit more unaware and the darkness of the night can help hide the eagle.

So after camp is made, I sit down by the campfire with Walder in front of me, and speak, "since we are going to be in this place for a short time and with no movement, I think I will do what Grandma Nan asked, are you ready Walder?"

Walder lights up and answers seriously, "Hodor!"

And then I close my eyes and do what I always do when I use my ability, my consciousness opens and all I see is a family darkness, I have called it the world of doors, for that is where I wander to find the doors of the minds of all beings.

And soon I see a simple brown door in front of me, I go to it and open it and get no refusal for entering another mind, and am greeted by a cave just after entering, and the dark noise of someone trying to open a door.

KRRAAAWW

I look back and see a raven flying near the entrance to the cave, but a giant white wolf keeps it away.

I continue down into the cave, and each time I get closer to a door at the bottom of the cave, the sounds of crows get louder and more restless, and soon I hear a sound that makes the crows stop singing.

ROOOAAAAARRR

A furious, uncontrolled roar that makes the whole cave shake with how imposing this roar proves to be.

I do not doubt that it is a dragon roar

And when I get to the door, I don't think twice and open it.

And what I see is a small boy crying leaning against the side of the door, it was probably him trying to open the door, I kneel in front of him and say, "it's okay Walder, you're not alone anymore, you're not trapped anymore."

The boy stops crying and looks at me a little afraid, "but he won't let me out, he wouldn't let me go!"

I take his hand and bring him up off the floor and say: "no one will hold you back, Walder, no one can hold your destiny back, you are free" and I pull him out of the room he was in before and lead him out of the cave.

At first, he gets anxious and tries to return, but I don't loosen my grip and continue leading him out of the cave.

And then everything goes white and I come back to my body, and soon I feel extremely tired.

When I look forward I see that Walder has fallen on his side, I run to him and start shaking his giant body: "Walder! Wake up!" and so he does.

He stands up with a deep sigh and looks around confused and then he looks at me and his eyes become kind he says "thank you Jaehaerys, thank you for saving me!" and he starts crying like a child as he hugs me.

I pat him on the back and try to reassure him: "it's okay Walder, you won't be stuck anymore, no one will control you again" I don't know how to comfort another human being, but I know he must be emotional, imagine spending your whole life as Walder?

After he calms down, he gets up, kneels, and says: "My dream has always been to be a knight, a royal guard. But one day I had that taken away from me, someone took away my choice to be a normal person for a long time and left me stuck there, causing me a lot of pain and a lot of emptiness, but I was always ready for this day, the day I would serve you Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, the promised prince and the song of ice and fire." He tells me excitedly.

I pat his arm and speak, "I promised Grandma Nan that I would help you, and I really will help you, and for sure you will be a Walder knight, a royal guard, and that I promise you!"
