Chapter 19: Stranger Danger

Hydro stared at the stranger directly in the eye, he was feeling his fur standing on its end.

Dark brown eyes...

"Humans are the only race that possesses darker eye color, like brown or grey..." that was Iris said earlier.

This person looked a lot similar to Iris, however, this person is slightly shorter and looks less graceful as Iris.

Hydro could not understand why he could feel the sense of danger to a person he just met. Why he suddenly felt this wave of hostility after realizing he has encountered a human? Hydro felt something deep inside himself that's is screamed the word: Attack.

The stranger presented they're gloved hand to Hydro before saying. "Paw."

Hydro immediately placed his paw on the stranger's hand. The wave of hostility instantly disappeared, and new wave of kindness took its place.

"Good boy~" said the stranger with gentle tone.

"Oi! Leave him alone, you creep!" Bùtóng growled, before Bùtóng pulled Hydro to his side.

"My, my, my~ I never knew I would see the day. A Shifter is defending a Beast kid? Aren't your races still at war with each other?" the stranger laughed.

"War? What's war?" Hydro blurted out.

The stranger soon silent they're laughter before staring at Hydro in disbelief. Hydro stared back at the stranger with eyes of pure confusion, which made the stranger laugh even harder.

"How did a pure minded child as yourself, ended up in a place like this? Is someone pulling a prank on me or what?" the stranger remarked.

"What's so funny? I don't understand." Hydro said innocently.

"Sorry, my bad. It's just the fact you don't know what's the meaning behind the word war, it's hilarious to me." the stranger said with a few chuckled left in they're throat.

"What is war?" Hydro asked again.

"You don't need to know." Bùtóng stuttered as he tried to cover Hydro's ears.

"But he's dose~ if not, he'll never be able to survive this cruel world." the stranger stated.

"He's only a child!" Bùtóng growled at the stranger.

"And a child will eventually grow up sooner or later. Do you really have the intention of protecting his innocence in a world like this? If so, you are a mad man."

Stop...

"Calling me mad? This is coming from a woman who has no right to decide of a child's future!"

Stop it...

"Deciding a child's future? You really are mad, the only one who is deciding futures here is no other than you! Shifter~"

Stop fighting!

"I'm not deciding anything for him, I'm simply trying to protect him from people as yourself!"

"Sure you are~ protecting him by surrounding him steel fence, with huge lack of freedom."

"ENOUGH!" Hydro barked.
