Chapter 11: Who are you, Miss? My son has a good eye!

Upon hearing Qi Yun's words, there was a hint of disappointment in Lian Qingxue's heart.

"Is it not good enough to offer oneself?"

She pouted slightly behind Qi Yun's back.

Lian Qingxue whispered, "I don't even know what I can do in the future. Maybe I won't be able to pay you back."

"You don't understand. No one believes in you more than me!" Qi Yun said confidently.

"Hmph!" Lian Qingxue snorted softly and fell silent.

Was this what she wanted to hear?

"Oh, by the way, your figure is really good. Why did you..." Qi Yun curiously asked.

Lian Qingxue felt her face burning in the darkness. "I developed early and was particularly big... so some people would laugh at me in class, and I started hunching over."

Qi Yun was stunned for a moment. "What a waste!"

After a while, Qi Yun heard her whisper softly: "Do you like looking at it?"

"Mm-hmm!"

Lian Qingxue fell silent again; perhaps she didn't want to talk to honest old man Qi Yun anymore.

The two arrived at the orphanage.

The orphanage wasn't big - just a three-story building with a small courtyard - but there were lights on inside the gatekeeper's room.

Lian Qingxue stood at the door and stopped walking suddenly. She turned around and looked up at Qi Yun with eyes that seemed full of words left unsaid under the moonlight.

"Hmm?"

"I'll allow you to see it later...but only just a little bit," Lian Qingxue quickly whispered as she extended her right hand outwards with thumb and index finger forming an almost imperceptible gap between them- indicating that it would only be a tiny bit.

By the time Qi Yun understood what Lian Qingxue meant, she had already exhausted all her courage and ran into the orphanage's gate in a flash.

The next day at noon, Lian Qingxue knocked on the door of Qi Yun's house.

"Who is it?" Qi Mum opened the door from inside the living room and saw Lian Qingxue standing outside.

"Miss, who are you looking for?"

Lian Qingxue looked completely different from yesterday. She was wearing clothes that Qi Yun had bought for her - a white shirt with a fitted pink down jacket over it. Her beautiful figure was clearly visible and she looked stunning after some grooming.

Qi Mum didn't recognize her at first and asked, "Who came?"

Qi Dad also came out of his room and asked Qi Mum, "I don't know either. Is it a young girl? Maybe she's here to see Qi Yun again."

At this point, Qi Mum glanced at Lian Qingxue and suddenly felt nervous inside. Yesterday, her son had just brought home a girl. Why was another pretty girl coming today? How many girls has her son been involved with?

She thought about how she watched him grow up into such an unreliable man now. Thinking back to yesterday when Lian Qingxue seemed so innocent and pitiful compared to this beautiful girl in front of them now made things even more complicated for her.

Lian Qingxue spoke up: "Auntie, it's me... I came yesterday too."

"Ahh! It's you! You look so different now that Auntie couldn't recognize you!" Hearing this made Qi Mum feel relieved as if she found two good daughters-in-law in one day!

She loved both types - obedient daughter-in-laws or beautiful ones; but which one should she choose?

This time around though seeing how perfect Lian Qingxue looked like made everything clear to her- She must be their future daughter-in-law!

"You're looking for Qi Yun right? He's in his room! Go ahead inside without any hesitation, treat it like your own home!" Qi Mum enthusiastically led Lian Qingxue to the door of Qi Yun's room.

After a moment of hesitation, she spoke again: "I won't disturb you two today. Do whatever you want and I won't come in!"

She was determined not to ruin her son's good fortune this time around by barging into his room like yesterday!

Upon hearing this, Lian Qingxue blushed and quickly ran into the room.

When Lian Qingxue entered the room, Qi Ma exclaimed to Qi Ba beside her: "Our son has such good taste! Why didn't I see it yesterday? Qingxue is such a remarkable young girl!"

Qi Ba nodded in agreement and said, "Yes, I didn't see it either. His taste is indeed better than mine."

"Hmm...hmm?" Qi Ma felt that something was wrong and looked at Qi Ba. "Are you saying that you made a mistake by choosing me?"

Qi Ba replied cautiously, "...Dangerous!"
