Roulette's attempts to escape Arias's hold were met with pure failure. She couldn't even cause his arm to budge. Meanwhile, she was quickly losing strength as her airway was cut off. She looked into Arias's cold, unfeeling eyes and muttered, "How..."
To this question, Arias raised a brow before grinning and snickering lightly. "How what? How did I survive your attempt to kill me? Or how did I get here? Questions, questions... The real question you should be asking is how I plan to kill you."
Hearing Arias speak so coldly with a straight face, Roulette widened her eyes and feared the worst. He really had come to end her life, and she was helpless to stop him.
"Please listen—"
Pa~
The moment she tried to struggle out some words, Arias gave her a heavy smack across the right side of her face. She felt her jaw creak while a couple of teeth were sent flying out of her mouth along with a light stream of blood. A numbing pain now overwhelmed the right side of her face, which had also reddened slightly, with Arias's handprint somewhat visible.
She hesitated to utter a word, her once neat hair now disheveled with a look of shock on her face. In that moment, Arias released his hold on her and let her fall to the ground. Once he did that, she immediately tried to crawl away while yelling, "Help! Guards!" in hopes that someone might hear her.
But without even crawling far, Arias stomped on her leg and brought her crawl to a halt.
"Ahhh!"
Her bone creaked and soon got crushed under the sheer pressure he was exerting. The bone fragments tore through her skin at various points, causing blood to squirt out.
"No one's coming to help you; it's just you and me," Arias revealed to her just how hopeless her situation was, causing her already panicky expression to turn even grimmer. Her eyes reddened and became teary as she turned her head to look up at Arias, who still had his foot firmly pressed on her bleeding leg.
Roulette wanted to plead for her life, but she didn't think there were any words she could say that would make him spare her. Nevertheless, she had to at least try.
"I can pay you whatever amount you want. I'll give you information on Lex and anyone else you want. I have so many connections; they'll all be yours if you don't kill me...ahhh—"
As she was speaking, Arias pressed his leg down harder, causing another wave of pain to hit Roulette, making her grit her teeth and lower her head in agony. She tried extending her hand toward her leg instinctively to try and push away Arias's foot, but he simply caught her hand by the wrist and twisted it!
Another loud crack of bone resounded in the room as Arias twisted her entire hand at an unnatural angle. Once again, fragments of bloody, shattered bones could be seen tearing through her skin from the inside.
Roulette's complexion turned pale; she was losing blood at an alarming rate, and her body began to feel weak. But Arias wasn't about to just let her pass out. His eyes gave off a subtle eerie glow before Roulette felt her body stiffen as an entirely different level of pain was introduced.
Using his telekinetic powers, Arias began moving the pieces of bone that were protruding out of her skin. The fragments of bone moved along her skin, some peeling it right off her flesh while others tore her muscles like jagged, blunt blades.
"Ahhh!! St—No—!!"
Her screams were loud, but her words were incomprehensible. Her eyes became even redder and bloodier as Arias did this to her, watching with a small smile. Who wouldn't enjoy seeing someone who did them wrong suffer? Certainly not Arias.
It didn't take long for the pain to become so overwhelming for Roulette that she began to wish he would just kill her. Although she did what she had done out of business before, she now carried heavy regret towards Arias as well as a heavy sense of hate.
Although she couldn't say it, the maddened gaze she gave him said it all. He, of course, noticed it and leaned in closer while stretching out his hand. "Quite the beautiful eyes you have; I hadn't really noticed them before."
He spoke charmingly, but his actions were anything but. Roulette panicked and tried to close her eyes, but his telekinetic powers were still very much in effect and made her unable to lower her eyelids. She had to watch as his fingers drew closer and closer until they actually caught her eye bare. Her pupils were trembling, a clear sign of the fear she felt towards what would occur next.
Sadly, she was helpless to do anything against it. Arias grabbed her eyeball and began pulling it out of her skull slowly. No matter how much she tried to move, her body remained stationary; she could only scream and scream as she vividly felt her eye getting de-socketed from her skull in a brutal and bloody manner.
By the time one eye was removed, she had already begun foaming at the mouth slightly, her mind reaching a breaking point where the pain was just too unbearable. Still, to Arias, the fact that she was still breathing meant she could endure more. He proceeded to remove her other eye just as slowly, but this time she didn't even scream; her mouth simply hung open as she foamed like a mindless zombie.
"Hmm, I suppose this is your limit then. I guess we'll end things here." Arias pulled away, and the telekinetic hold he had on her body faded, causing her to slump to the ground in a bloody mess. Her body was still in great pain, but it was somewhat becoming numb as she slowly began to lose feeling throughout her entire body. But rather than fear for her life, she was relieved that it was coming to an end.
Everything was already dark to her, but soon even sound and smell eluded her. It was like she was drifting off to sleep, only this time, she knew she would never wake up.
After a brief moment of darkness, though, she felt all her senses hit at once.
!!
Surprise was written on her face as she opened her eyelids and found she could still see. She immediately looked over her body and found she was in one piece, just lying in her bed. Before she could try to make sense of anything, a familiar and terrifying voice spoke to her.
"Did you enjoy your dream?"
It was a voice her body now associated with death itself. So, the moment she heard it, her entire body stiffened as her eyes slowly looked in the direction it came from. There, right in front of her bed frame, stood Arias. His cold gaze was firmly fixed on her as he smiled in her direction.
"A dream?" she muttered in confusion; everything she had felt was so real to her. She had genuinely felt like she died.
But pain and the like were all just messages sent by and stimulated by the brain. Arias made her experience this firsthand by invading her mind and making her experience an illusion of the mind.
Without explaining what he had done, Arias warned, "Yes, a dream. And unless you want it to become a reality, you'll do well to listen to the instructions I'm about to give you carefully…"
Too scared to even flinch, Roulette remained in her bed and didn't move as Arias spoke for a good few minutes. Once done, he gave her a final warning.
"Your life is no longer your own. You now live only to carry out my instructions. The moment you stop or fail is the moment you die. There will be no other chances; let that sink in."
Roulette was about to respond back, but the moment she blinked, Arias was gone.
Her death would bring little satisfaction to him, as did Shade's, so he opted to use her current standing with Lex to his advantage. As things stood, Lex wouldn't think the person Arias wants to kill is actually a pawn. As for her fate after her usefulness came to an end… only time would tell.
