HOUSE OSWALD

A month has gone by and Luminus was ready to leave the mansion to go to his grandparent's house. He expected to go alone with only a few escorts but he didn't expect only two guards and a normal-looking carriage. "Really?" he questioned while standing right in front of the carriage. His mother giggled behind him and said " these are my most trusted guards so you're in safe hands".

Luminus smiled and said, "I'll come to visit when I miss you, mom". Sitara simply smiled and waved at her son departing. Luminus knew that his mom could have gotten a spiritual treasure for him to use but she also considered the consequences as it would put a strain on the guards. some spiritual treasures can be used to travel while others can be used for protection, buff, and attack.

It also consumes a lot of spiritual energy to operate. " I guess mom made the right choice" he sighed as he talked to himself. He looked through the window and saw the giant mansion almost the size of a village with several large and giant buildings.

Unbeknownst to Luminus, some of the patriarch candidates were standing somewhere not very far from where he took the carriage while laughing at him. They were happy that they could finally get rid of the scum in the family.

Some even thought that he didn't have the right to call himself a patriarch candidate in the first place. The news that the Failure of the vermillion household has been disowned by his own family spread throughout the city of Rohan like wildfire.

All people had to say was " it was to be expected". But once a second rumor spread around that the 'failure' of the vermillion household had a stage 3 Miller's disease, people were even more suspicious that he was not truly the blood of the Vermillion household.

Luminus spent an entire 2 weeks on the road with the two escorts who seemed to never get tired as they can meditate while riding the tamed mutated horses. They sometimes talk to Luminus about random things like the food he likes and if he is comfortable to places to go sightseeing.

Luminus thought about house Oswald as he was sitting in the carriage. Before his mother married his father, there was nothing like 'house Oswald'. They were just a bunch of commoners who had to sell some of the female members of the family to prominent houses as maids to earn a living.

But when the patriarch decided to marry the maid who had served him from his teenage years, they suddenly became a recognizable family. They have a house name now and even have a family business which is alchemy.

They grow their own herbs and make potions or elixirs for their shop. Although they are a little rich, they don't have a lot of money or live in a lavish mansion like a typical high-ranking noble family. They are now given the noble status of barons. Just because of their marital connection to the prestigious house Vermillion.

House Oswald was also given a territory where it is hard to farm because of its scorching hot desert lands and the beast-infected forest on the other side. Although the place is called a territory, It is nothing more than a debt trap the king prepared for them. Luminus had lots of things on his mind but the most important thing that occupied his thoughts was his future.

The thought crossed his mind to be an alchemist since where he was going is a land of an alchemist family. "I might as well make a slight change to my dream and become an alchemist" he mumbled to himself all alone inside the carriage. "We have reached the harbor young master" a sudden notice from the guard broke him out of his thoughts.

"Thank you for letting me know Mr. Noir". Apparently, the guards are both from the same family and they are unidentical twins. They go by the name of Noir and Blanc. Although Luminus knew that they were just using nicknames in order to hide the fact that they are part of the shadow night order of the Vermillion house.

Luminus walked cautiously as he went aboard the ship that will carry him across the vast and wild ocean to the next continent. He went over and paid his respect to the senior who would be guarding the ship across the vast ocean to the next continent. The man seemed to have taken a liking to him as they talked for a while. He mostly liked how knowledgeable the kid is for his age.

Luminus was also interested in some of the myths that the man told him about the ocean and a god that once lived in the ocean. They later showed luminous his room and he went to sleep while reminiscing about the time he spent with his mother in the Vermillion household.

After a long 3-week journey to the southern continent, they finally arrived at the Maroon Kingdom. A kingdom where mutated beasts run rampant and a whole mutated beast forest. The country has some areas where nothing can be sown because of large mana concentration or cursed lands. There is a myth that a battle of the gods took place right above the continent that's why some parts of the southern continent have large amounts of curse energy.

As soon as Luminus got off the ship, he was met with smiling people who came from house Oswald to take him to his new home. He smiled back and went with them. The people there were very friendly as the age group of Luminus either had stage 1 cultivation or did not cultivate at all because of the resources and time it took to get to the next stage.

The elders in the family had casual clothes on as they welcomed Luminus home. They were intrigued by the silver-blue hair and crimson eyes the kid had. They complemented that he looked like his father with very few of his mother's features which quickly took the smile off Luminus's face. The other elders tried to lighten the mood by showing Luminus his new room which was quite spacious almost like the room he had in the Vermillion mansion.

Except it was missing the lavish jewels and precious materials used to design the room. "I hope it's to your liking," an elder said while hoping Luminus liked the room. "Thank you so much it is quite spacious and nice" Luminus complemented with a smile on his face. He knew that the Oswald family was not financially off like a normal noble should be since they were at the bottom class of nobles and had a bad territorial location.

"We hope you enjoy your time here our dear grandchild," an old woman said while turning away to the door. She could have had a much younger body if she had cultivated to a high realm. Because the life force of living beings increases equivalent to the cultivation realm of the person.

Luminus silently lay on the bed as he thought "Life here isn't so bad as he thought it would be". The next day he went over to the old woman from yesterday after learning her name was Noona. She agreed to teach him alchemy as long as he doesn't get lazy over time.

So for the next few months, he has been learning alchemy from Noona. Noona was a little astonished by the learning speed of the young boy. "As expected from a family of monsters.... he is also a monster," Noona said while looking at a bunch of healing potions that Luminus made for the family shop ready for sale.
