"Senna leaves? Why do these peach blossom pastries have a trace of that in them?" Gu Yining asked, placing the pastries down and turning to face Tang Tiantian.
Tang Tiantian shook her head in confusion. "What are senna leaves? I've never heard of them."
"Senna leaves are used to treat constipation and stimulate the intestines. Overdosing can lead to abdominal pain and diarrhea, especially for someone like Fu Hanyan, whose digestive system has always been weak. Even a small amount in these pastries could easily make him feel this way. Tang Tiantian, what exactly did you do?" Gu Yining's sharp gaze pierced through her, her voice icy with concern.
Tang Tiantian desperately denied any wrongdoing. "I'm not a doctor! How would I know these things? And why would I want to harm Brother Fu? It's you who's always dissatisfied with him, and you're the one skilled in medicine. You made those pastries, so I think you might have added something to them and are now trying to pin the blame on me. Brother Fu, this woman is truly venomous; she doesn't deserve to be your doctor!"
"If I wanted to poison him, I'd have had plenty of chances to do so without waiting until now," Gu Yining shot back, almost laughing at Tang Tiantian's absurd accusations.
"You had a fight with Brother Fu this morning and felt upset. Now that you finally have an opportunity, of course, you'd want to frame me for it!" Tang Tiantian retorted, biting her lip defiantly.
Her argument had a certain logic to it.
As she spoke, the attention of those present shifted suspiciously toward Gu Yining.
"Plus, you know just how much of a drug to use so it wouldn't put Brother Fu at risk, just enough to make him feel uncomfortable and give him diarrhea. You could even use this chance to treat him and clear your name afterward. Gu Yining, you're truly impressive; your plan was nearly flawless, and we almost fell for it," Tang Tiantian continued, gaining confidence as she pointed out the apparent flaws in Gu Yining's character.
Fu Hanyan, who was still sitting on the bed, feeling unwell, couldn't believe these two women were still arguing while he was in this state.
"Gu Yining, can you just give me some medicine already?" He was growing impatient, needing to relieve himself.
"Go use the bathroom first. The traditional medicine I prescribe will help adjust your stomach and won't work immediately. For the diarrhea, Li Feng, you need to go buy some medicine from the nearby pharmacy. I'll write down what you need," Gu Yining instructed, her composure unwavering despite the accusations flying her way.
Even though Gu Yining had been wronged, she remained calm and collected.
Fu Hanyan frowned as he was told to go to the bathroom. This was utterly humiliating. *Couldn't she have left him a bit of dignity?*
"What are you standing around for? Hurry up before you end up soiling yourself!" Gu Yining shot him a look, her tone stern and commanding.
Clenching his fists in frustration, Fu Hanyan found himself powerless against her commanding presence. He had no choice but to get out of bed and head for the bathroom.
In the master bedroom, the tension between Gu Yining and Tang Tiantian continued to rise.
Tang Tiantian, emboldened by the situation, declared, "Gu Yining, you've made Brother Fu sick with diarrhea! I'm going to report this to Grandpa! Just wait to be fired!"
Gu Yining shrugged nonchalantly. "Go ahead, I'll deal with you afterward."
If the matter reached the grandfather's ears, Tang Tiantian would find herself in a much worse situation than she was in now.
Tang Tiantian's bravado faltered in the face of Gu Yining's threat. "What do you mean by that? You think you can threaten me just because you made a mistake?"
"Chen Ma, has Miss Tang left the Fu household in the last hour?" Gu Yining calmly directed her question at the housekeeper, momentarily sidelining Tang Tiantian.
"No, she hasn't left," Chen Ma replied truthfully.
"Then where did the senna leaves come from?" Gu Yining's gaze turned back to Tang Tiantian, sharp and penetrating, as if ready to uncover the truth.
