Chapter 7: First Day

Angel's POV:

"Angel!" Yelled a voice. I groaned and rolled over on my side. The door bursted open. NOOOOO!!!! I don't wanna get up!!!! "Angel!!!" Alma yelled. I groaned loudly. She opened the blinds. I squinted and covered my head with my pillow. "Get up Angel!!" She yelled. "I don't wanna." I whined. Then I mindlessly stood up and stood at my bedside. "That's better." Alma said, with her hand out. I glared at her. "Go shower and get ready for school." She said before walking out the door. I sighed and walked towards my bathroom. It was huge. I hopped in the shower and turned on the faucet. The let the water wash over me. After I was done, I grabbed a towel and dried off. I walked back to my room and over to my closet. Starting a new school today. Gotta make an impression.

I put on some clothes, did my hair, grabbed my school supplies Stan bought me and walked out the door. I ran into Meghan, who was searching through her bag for something. "Hey Meghan." I said. She looked at me then frowned. "Hey Angel." She said. "What's wrong?" I asked, curiously. "I wish I had a body like yours." She said. I chuckled. "No you don't. Dudes stare at bitches with bodies like mine." I said. "Better than being built like a stick." She said, as she made her way downstair. "Girl, all girls' bodies are beautiful. As long as we see ourselves as bad bitches, doesn't matter what our bodies look like." I said, happily. She smiled and hugged me. "Thanks. Have you seen my keys? I gotta get to school early." She said.

"Why?" I asked. "Because I have a test I was supposed to take last week but with being suspended, I had to miss it." She said. "Oh." I said. I stood there, watching her look everywhere for her keys. "Where'd you lay put them?" I asked. "They were on my nightstand. I put them there after me and Aaliyah got into it because-" she paused and growled loudly. "AALIYAH!!!" She shouted. "And what pray tell us all the yelling about?" Alma asked, walking in the kitchen. "Meghan thinks Aaliyah took her keys." I said, hopping on the counter. "Not think. Know. I know she took them." Meghan said. "And if I did?" Aaliyah said, waking into the kitchen over to the fridge. "Give then back." Meghan growled. Aaliyah turned around. "Or what?" She said. "Aaliyah. Return her keys." Stan said, as he entered the kitchen.

Aaliyah scoffed, as she reluctantly grave Meghan her keys back. "She chipped my dolphin." Meghan said, staring at her keys. There was a dolphin charm on it. "Girl, it was like that when I took them." Aaliyah said. Those two argued like an old married couple. "Yo what up people!?" Trey bellowed running into the kitchen. He opened the fridge to get something. "Uh uh Trey. That last toaster strudel is mine." Keisha said, walking towards him. Trey looked at her. "Girl bye." He said. "Trey I'm being serious." Keisha said. "Man you should've got it before I did." He said. Then those two got into it. I smiled. So glad to be home. "Alright enough. Meghan, Aaliyah, you two go on ahead to school." Stan said. "We're not going with them?" I asked. "Not yet Angel." Bryan said. Meghan and Aaliyah walked out the front door, still arguing.

"Now Trey, Keisha. You guys know you were being transferred to another school. Your old one knew of this. Kacey helped you get into this new one. You have her to thank." Stan said. "Wait so Kacey goes to my new school?" I asked. "Yeah." He said. I squealed. "You know Kacey?" Trey asked. "She's my bets friend!!!" I said, excitedly. "Oh well good." He said. "Anyways, you three will be arriving at the school later than everyone else. You have to get caught up with your classmates." Bryan said. "How will we get caught up?" I asked. "You'll be going in between classes." He said. In between classes? "Don't worry Angel. It's just for today. But you will be going to your last class." Alma said. "Okay." I said. "Now hurry along." She said, as she rushed us to the door. I walked out first. I looked at my siblings. They didn't seem as nervous as I was. We walked over to the garage to our cars. I walked over to Keisha's. She stared at me.

"Uh what you doing?" She asked, curiously. "I thought we were riding together?" I said. "We drive our own cars around here Angel." Trey said, unlocking his car and getting in. "Oh." I said, as I walked back over to mine. I unlocked the doors and got in. I turned the car and waited for the Keisha to drive off. I looked at my GPS. It was already set to the school I was headed. It's just a school. It's just a school. As we pulled up to the schoolhouse, it was bigger in person. I pulled in the parking lot and parked. I got out and stared at the huge building. "Big, huh?" Keisha said. "Huge." I said. "Angel!!" Someone yelled. I turned to see Aaliyah. She ran over and hugged me. "Hey. So this is the school I'm going to now?" I asked. "Yep. Kacey will be over to give you guys your schedules. Later." She said, as she ran off towards the building.

We walked around the side of the building. I looked off into the distance. There was students walking around the campus. "Wow." I said, softly. "What?" Trey asked. "This place is cool." I said. "You have no idea." Said a voice. I looked around to see Kacy coming over. "Hey bestie." I said, as I hugged her. "Hey boo. Hey Trey. Hey Keisha." She said. "Sup Kacey." They greeted. "So this is Greenwood High." I said. "Yep. You guys are gonna love it." Kacey said. "So far, Angel is the only one impressed." Trey said. I frowned at him. "Well don't be." Kacey said. I looked at her. "Why not?" I asked. "Angel your the only human at this school. Your gonna be known around the school soon. Your the very first human to attend at magical being only school." She said.

"What?" I said. "Yeah Angel. Your the only human here." Keisha said. "Tomorrow, we're gonna have a meeting the auditorium about a human, aka you, being here. So no one should use their powers against you, knowing you don't have any." Kacey said. "Aw man. The last thing I want right now, is attention." I said. "We're all gonna get attention, considering we're new." Trey said. "Let's go. Class starts soon. You guys will go afterwards. Right now, I have to show you guys around." Kacey said. The bell rung. "Shit. Sorry guys. It's gonna have to wait. I gotta be somewhere. Just go to the office. Someone will help you." She said, as she ran off. Great. "That's great." I said, sarcastically. "What?" Trey asked. "The one person I know at this school is not around to help me." I said.

"We'll see her later. Now let's find the office." Keisha said. We looked around and found the office building. We walked in and all eyes were on us. "Damn. All these niggas staring." Trey whispered. Me and Keisha giggled. "Ah. You must be the Starlights." Someone said, as he approached us. Trey put himself in front of me and Keisha. "How you know us?" He asked. "The Magic Council told us of your arrival. Welcome to my school. Your Trey, your Keisha, and your...." the man trailed off. "Angel." I said. "Angel yes. Here's your maps of the school to help you get around, but just in case here's a student of the school committee to help you around campus." The man said, as a student approached us. She looked us up and down. She lingered on Trey.

"I am Principal Roger, this is Francine. She will show you around. Well, Francine, it's up to you." Roger said, as he walked off towards an office. Francine looked back at us. She stared at me like I had two heads. "You gotta problem with my sister?" Keisha asked, sassily. She stood in front of me. "No. It's just....the Magic Council said she was human. Is that true?" She asked, staring at me. "Um yeah." I said, scratching my head. Francine then looked behind her at a girl who was staring at us. She quickly walked away when she saw us staring. "Sorry. That's my friend. She was just as curious as I was about you Angel." Francine said. It was an awkward silence after that. "So we going see the school or what?" Trey asked.

"Oh yes. Follow me." Francine said, as she flipped her hair and turned around. We followed her down the halls. She put a little step in her walk, tryna show off something. Trey was enjoying her. It made me and Keisha share a look. We frowned at him but he didn't care. "Okay so this is the gym. The Magic Council said this is your last class together. You'll be coming to this class at the end of school." Francine said. She took us outside to the school's greenhouse. "Here is the greenhouse. A lot is in here cause the school's fund is a lot so we added plants for kids to come and help out with watering and everything." She said. She looked at Trey, who was looking at the plants. "It's also a place for people to...do whatever out here. The staff don't come in here as much as us students do. We like to come in here and...." she trailed off, as she trailed her fingers along Treys bicep.

I rolled my eyes. Gurl take yo thirsty ass on. "What else?" I asked, stepping in front of Trey. "Oh. Well let's go to the gym." Francine said, as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. I looked at Trey, who was staring at her ass. Boys are pigs. I looked at Keisha, who looked annoyed. "Here is the gym. We have an upstairs in case the boys gym class is taking up too much space for us girls gym class. We do go to the track field sometimes. Hopefully not today." She whispered that last part. She took us back over to the school. "Hey how come your not in class like Kacey?" I asked, without thinking. Francine looked at me. "I'm helping you out right now." She said, with a confused face. "No I know. I mean like, Kacey is part of school committee too so shouldn't she be helping us too?" I asked.

"She is but she has a lot to do right now. So I'm here." She said. Something about her is off. We walked around til I felt uncomfortable. I looked at Francine who stared at me. "What?" I asked. "Angel, are you really human?" She asked. "Yes. Didn't you hear the principal AND Magic Council?" I asked. "I am so surprised. The Magic Council usually don't mess with humans." She said. "So I heard." Was all I said. "It must be amazing being human." She said. "Not really." I said. "What do you mean? I've dreamt of one day not having powers and being a regular person." She said. "Well it's not all that great." Keisha said. Francine looked at her. "What?" She asked. "Me and Trey were once humans. We were changed. Being human is honestly no different than being a magical being." Keisha said. "It most definitely ain't. We all have the same problems, just with powers." Trey said.

"Well surely there are good times you had." Francine said. "Yeah there is." I said. "Can you name one?" She asked. I looked at her. "Look Francine, no offense, but can you just show us around?" Keisha asked. Francine nodded. She was quiet the rest of the time she showed us around. I felt bad for her. Then again, my big heart always got me in trouble. People take advantage of my kindness so I try to act like Keisha and Trey, who have a stronger backbone than me. "Ya know Francine, being human is not so bad though. It does have its moments where I imagine myself being a magical being, but I'm sorta happy being a human. I don't have to worry about using my powers in public or losing control." I said. She looked off into the distance. "Yeah. I've had that problem before." She said.

"What are you exactly?" I asked, curiously. "I'm a Wendigo." She said. My heart sank. I stopped. They looked at me. "Angel you good?" Trey asked. I shook my head. "That means, your like, a cannibal?" I said. She nodded. "In a way. But don't worry. I'm not going to eat you, though your scent is driving me nuts." She said. "My scent?" I asked. "Yeah. Angel your scent smells of vanilla." Keisha said. "I smell like vanilla? But I have on Bath & Body Works perfume." I said. "Angel, no matter how much perfume you wear, magical beings can still smell your scent." Trey said. "Huh." I said. "Yep." Francine said. She took us around the school and showed us around. Turns out the only class I had with Trey and Keisha was PE, which was at the end of the day.

They had other classes without me. It made me sad that I don't no classes with my siblings. Keisha told me not to be sad and that I would see them everyday at home. I was glad for that though I did want to spend time with them now that I found them. Trey and Keisha and I walked around with Francine, showing us to our classes. Our teachers gave us some work to do since we couldn't be in the classrooms right then and there. Some students saw us and immediately started talking about us. They were so excited to see the new students. Francine finally took us to a cafeteria. It was huge.

Trey whistled. "Damn this cafeteria huge." He said. "Yeah it is." Francine said, biting her lip at him. "Why are we here though?" Keisha asked. "Well, I don't think you guys had breakfast so we're here to get lunch before everyone else." Francine said. "Good. I'm starving." I said, as we walked up to the lunch staff. "Hey Francine. Who are they?" Some said. "These are the Starlights, the new kids." She said. The woman looked at me. "Whoa. Isn't that the human the Magic Council told us about?" She asked. Francine nodded. "Whoa. What's it like to be human?" The lady asked. "The same as you I guess." I said. "Look, we're here to get food. We're hungry." Keisha said. "Oh yeah. Here." The lady said, as she handed us our food.

We sat down at a table and ate. I noticed Francine was eating raw flesh. Blood was on her lips. It made me sick. "Angel, what's up?" Keisha said. "Francine how can you eat that?" I asked. She looked at me. "The same way you guys eat normal food." She said. I shivered and continued eating. I didn't look at Francine anymore during lunchtime. She took us back to the office, where Kacey was waiting for us. "Hey guys." She said. I ran up to her and hugged her. She hugged me back. "Whoa. I see Angel missed you." Francine said. "Yep. This is my BFF. I love her to death. So how was the tour?" Kacey asked. "Was good, til we saw Francine eat raw human flesh." Keisha said. Kacey laughed. "Yeah forgot to warm you." She said, giggling. Trey growled at her playfully. "Okay. Now let's go to PE." Kacey said.

"Later." Francine said, as she gave one last look at Trey, who was biting his lip at her. I looked at Kacey. She made a face. I giggled. "Hey lil mama, we gon see each other again later on." Trey said. Francine smiled. "I look forward to it." She said. "Okay bye Francine." Kacey said, pushing her out the room. "That's yo mate Trey?" Keisha asked, smirking. "Hell no. I just want some head." Trey said. "Your a pig." Kacey said. Trey mocked her. "Anyways. Let's go to the gym." He said. We walked down the halls and outside the school. "I'm super excited." Kacey said. "Why?" Keisha asked. "Cuz, you and Angel are gonna meet your mates." She said. Mates? "Mates?" Trey repeated. "Yep." Kacey said. "Um, I'm human. So how am I gonna know who my mate is?" I asked. "Angel...." Kacey trialed off. She shook her head. "Just wait." She said. "Whoa whoa wait. Keisha and Angel ain't meeting no mates bruh." Trey said, defensively.

"Boy shut up dumbass up." Keisha said. We heard someone clear their throats. We turned around to see a woman. "Let's try to refrain from using foul language. Kacey, ho ahead to class. I'll see these three to theirs." The woman said. "But we're all going to the same class." Trey said. The woman made a face and Kacey ran off towards the gym. "So your the Starlights. The new kids?" The woman asked. "Uh yeah." Keisha said. The woman looked us up and down. Her eyes landed on me. "Your the human of the bunch?" She said. I nodded. She frowned. "I still think this is a bad idea." She muttered. Keisha and Trey growled at her. I touched them and shook my head. I didn't want them getting in trouble on the first day.

"We'll follow me to the gym." The lady said. We followed her to the gym. Turns out she was the assistant principal. She opened the doors to the outside but it was pouring down rain. "It wasn't raining earlier. Just drizzling." Keisha said. "Well now we can't take the outside route. Let's go around." The assistant principal said. We did as we were told. We finally approached the gym and walked in. She interrupted some coach and told us that we were the new kids. I looked at Keisha and Trey. Trey has a bored expression while Keisha was staring straight ahead. Her eyes had a pink ring go around them as she whispered mate. Huh. So that's how you know your found your mate.
