Chapter 19: I Am Sorry Mother!

"I will go back, say your goodbyes, as you might not be able to see him tomorrow," after saying that, the old man disappeared from their sight. They were not surprised by their speed at all and ignored it.

Ruo'er turned to look towards Long Tian, her eyes brimming with unwillingness and care. There was an emotion Long Tian was unable to discern, as he had never seen someone look at him that way, and it wasn't love. Not feeling any ill intent, he already ignored it.

"Brother Tian, I will grow so strong that no one will come between us. Be safe and wait for me. I will definitely come back for you."

She spoke, her eyes brimming with determination, causing him to laugh. Looking at his laughing face, she pouted and got angry at him.

"What's so funny? You seem happy being able to stay away from me. Hump!"

"Haha! No, I was just thinking you might have looked cool saying that if you didn't have your nose running." She blushed hearing his words and teasing voice, and she buried her face in his chest.

"And I will miss you too, you know. I will also try my best to grow stronger, but if you take too long I might even get married before we could even meet—" Looking at the eyes staring at him with an icy cold expression, he shut his mouth as he cursed himself for the joke.

"Brother Tian seems to like joking too much. Hehe, if you were not in this condition, I might have joked with you too." She spoke as her hold on him tightened with every passing moment, causing sweat to drip behind his back.

"Cough! Well, I will remember that, but I need to go back. I will miss you, Ruo'er." He spoke as he kissed her forehead, causing her to freeze as if her operating system crashed.

Seeing this chance, he escaped her clutches and ran towards his home while shouting,

"Be safe there and tell me if anyone tries to bully you."

His words caused her to drift into her delusions, and she had a pervy smile on her face as she walked back in the direction of her home.

Hiding within the shadows, the old man couldn't help but feel complicated emotions as he observed the interactions between these two.

While part of him genuinely wanted to ensure her safety, there was also a hint of curiosity and concern that led him to keep an eye on them.

He knew he should give them some privacy, yet he was curious about what the boy would do.

'I just don't want that smelly boy to take advantage of my granddaughter.'

As Long Tian approached the entrance of his home, a sense of both anticipation and apprehension settled within him.

The weakness and the stress came crashing down on his body. He felt a peculiar mix of emotions—fatigue, nervousness, and a yearning to see his mother again.

The gate came into view, and his steps became slower and heavier. He could feel his eyelids drooping down.

He squinted his eyes as his vision blurred slightly, making him feel as though he was walking through a dream.

As he crossed the threshold of the gate, his eyes caught sight of a figure he recognized all too well. The woman he had been longing to see stood in front of his eyes.

The woman's presence seemed to cast a calming aura that washed over him, momentarily easing the storm of emotions inside him.

With each step closer, his heart raced with a mixture of relief and anticipation. With all of his willpower, he made his way towards her.

He was just about to take another step forward when an unexpected wave of dizziness hit him. His balance wavered, and strength left his body, causing him to stumble.

"Tian!"

Xin Yan, who was looking at him with worry, exclaimed in panic as she saw him stumble and fall. Her body moved at an insane speed and caught him before he could fall.

A few moments back —

Ever since Long Tian left the house, Xin Yan has been feeling a sense of dread washing over her. At first, she decided to ignore the feeling, but as time went by, the feeling only intensified and kept increasing.

Xin Yan's maternal instincts have always been sharp. Whenever Long Tian was in danger or was even injured, she would always have this feeling.

But unlike before, this feeling just kept on increasing and increasing. Deciding to listen to the feeling, she rushed out of her room and walked towards the family gate.

The sensation was almost like an invisible thread tugging her towards the family gate, urging her to see what awaited her there.

As she reached the gate, a mixture of relief and concern washed over her at the sight of Long Tian's figure.

The mere sight of her son brought a genuine smile to her face. Before she could be happy about his safe arrival, her keen senses found something wrong with him. It was like her eyes could see the very core of his body without even using any effort.

'He is suffering from internal injury, but how? There is not a trace of a wound on the outside.'

She closed her eyes and sensed the depths of his injuries and instantly knew what had happened. Her eyes mirrored the pain he was feeling but not show it to her.

Despite the brave front, he might put up, she saw the truth beneath—the toll his injuries had taken, both physically and emotionally. As a mother who had nurtured him since birth, she recognized the moments when he was trying to hide his pain.

She was shocked to see the warm eyes he was looking at her with. As he walked towards her, he stumbled, and she saw him lose all of his strength.

Rushing with all her might, she appeared in front of him in an instant and let him fall over her.

Long Tian used all of his willpower to utter a few words.

"I- HA, am S-sorry. I could not keep our promise. Mother!"

As soon as those words left his mouth, he fell unconscious in her embrace.

She did not care about the fact that he broke the promise, but all she cared about was his well-being.

Witnessing her son return home in such a state, Xin Yan's world shattered into oblivion of concern and pain.

The pain he was enduring was almost too much for her to comprehend. Her heart ached with a mixture of empathy and helplessness, and her eyes welled up with tears as she brushed the hair falling on his face to the side.

She could not feel the joy of being called 'Mother' by him after a long time, her heart was hurting for her son, who had suffered such injuries.

Ignoring everything, she rushed to the boy's room and laid him on the bed while using her qi to stabilize his condition.

Not taking any chances after his breath turned normal, she rushed to the family doctor at an insane speed to ask him to come and take a look.
