Genus Ad Divinitatem

So painful were those moments When the earth shook and the seas rose How cheerful life could stand still As though everything was killed All the happiness gone once for all That seemed to me a painful fall Everything I knew wiped away All I could hear was the deafening silence All I could feel was emptiness As if everything was shrouded in darkness All I could hear was my sister crying in madness Adapted from Farah Sherazi's Destruction, Death and Decay.

Chapter 40: Level 2 Cosmic Pathway Superhuman

Everything felt surreal. He had thought advancing to level 2 would be very difficult but he had done it with ease. The world seemingly dropped a criminal onto his laps for him to use.

He was excited at the feeling of power coursing through his body. He felt invincible. He flexed his arms, he wanted to stand up but then he felt a sharp jolt of pain.

"Calm down! You have to continue refining every bit of the Mojo you just ingested. Remember, that Mojo is not yours until you completely refine it." Maya shouted at him.

Raziel calmed down and started to circulate Mojo through out every part of his body. He continued until he felt that all the Mojo in his body belonged to him.

"How long did that take me?" He asked Maya.

Maya responded with a smile "Over an hour. Congratulations!"

Raziel was very happy, "Thank you! I still can't believe it. I levelled up on the first day of the job."

Maya went to the bedroom to bring take Zach's wife out, "Everything just happened to fall in place. It's not everyday we actually catch criminals."

Raziel delved his mind into every inch of his body. He saw that he could use Brightflash five times right now and he felt that when he attains the peak of level 2, he would be able to use it six times.

The power of his cosmic lightning had tripled instead of a normal double. This was because of the large amount of Mojo in his body which was more than half of a normal level 2.

The power of his cosmic storm had also tripled. He had grown stronger exponentially.

He could also feel that every part of his body was weapon. His bones were two times stronger than before.

His speed right now was two times that of when he was at level 1. He was faster and several times stronger.

His technique Gravity Warp had also gotten stronger. He would have to test it in a battle to know how strong it was now.

Maya had come back to the sitting room with Zach's wife behind her. Zach's body was already covered up. Maya said to her, "His body belongs to the government now. He became a superhuman through illegal means."

Maya phoned for an ambulance. The ambulance arrived five minutes later and they took Zach's body. She said to Raziel, "Time to go home!"

They left Zach's house together. When they were outside, Raziel asked her, "What about the warehouse?"

Maya took a gum from her bag and put it in her mouth, "In this kind of situation, you simply call it in. The junior officers from our police department will go there and finish the job for us."

They walked to a main road to look for a cab. A sedan car suddenly pulled to halt beside them. The driver's window was wound down and at the wheels was a short man with a crew cut hair and very large ears. He was wearing a police jacket. He said to them, "You came to my jurisdiction and you didn't think to say hello?"

Maya said with caution in her voice, "Lieutenant Jobs! I didn't think I have to notify you when I'm catching a criminal."

Jobs spoke with an angry tone, "The criminal is in my jurisdiction! You should have let me handle it!

"And what do you mean catching a criminal? Does catching a criminal involve splitting their skull and removing their brain?"

Maya replied sharply, "I don't have to explain myself to you." She waved down the first cab she saw and she got in. Raziel didn't dwindle either and followed suit.

Maya told the cab man to take them to the metro station. Jobs huffed angrily and drove his car away.

Maya and Raziel were silent during the journey to the metro. They alighted from the cab about eight minutes later and got in a train.

Maya said to him, "You should take the metro home. No need to go back to the police department. Let's call it a day. We'll make our report tomorrow."

Raziel nodded, "About before, thank you for letting me use that guy to advance. Also thanks for watching over me while I was advancing.

"Who is that Jobs?"

Maya puffed angrily, "He's a menace. I wonder why they let someone like him head the whole of Park Avenue."

Raziel was surprised, "Wow! He's an important person then."

Maya scoffed, "Important my ass! He's a lapdog of someone powerful. That's why they let him head Park Avenue.

"I'm stronger than him and I'm only among many of the detectives working on the third floor of Central Tenebren police department."

Raziel could sense she was truly angry and decided it was best not to probe further. Maya got off the train at some point. He sat alone till he reached his destination.
