Chapter 7

Jake, Jason and Brad were all walking on the road with their hands in their pockets, except for Brad who was carrying the boy they caught yesterday.

It was night outside and the only source of light they had were the burning buildings and cars, which proved enough since they were shining brightly in the whole city.

It really was a beautiful view, looking at a city that took years to be built be slowly destroyed in front of you is like a work of art.

There was no electricity either, meaning that their source of light was literally the fire all over the city.

There were multiple fire trucks but they were all riddled with holes and smashed to the ground by big rubble.

Speaking of rubble, it's almost everywhere.

Jake couldn't find out the reason why these buildings suddenly fell apart but he could blame it on the bomb that was dropped on the city before they arrived.

It wasn't even the army that launched it, it was the Yakuza.

Jake on his way of recruiting people for his guild has walked upon multiple armed yakuza gangsters.

He struggled a little since he had to protect his friends and himself from the bullets but he still caught them and questioned them about everything.

Apparently, the Yakuza is running an operation in which they capture people and kill them for their skills.

While there is a small chance of their skill dropping it is abysmal.

The drop rates are smaller then when you are in a mission, and the fact that most people only have one skill makes that chance even smaller.

Jake has probably killed over 50 of those armed fuckers and didn't get one good skill.

He got two skills which were literally useless, he looked deeper into how the pocket worked and realized that you can sell skills for coins in the shop.

And that's what he did.

He now had 20 coins.

For reference, if you want to buy a B graded skill, you need at least 500 points.

And that's a fair price, because these B graded skills are already starting to get a little destructive.

One of the skills was the upgraded version of his skill, tungsten skin.

But there is another skill that caught his attention, titanium bones.

You would think that tungsten is easily harder than titanium but that's not true.

Tungsten is probably the most scratch resistant material out there, meaning that cutting through skin with the properties of tungsten will be almost impossible through conventional means.

But the same thing can't be said about it's brittleness.

Tungsten breaks faster than Titanium under pressure. And that is because tungsten tends to immediately shatter under pressure while Titanium firstly bends.

So while these skills look somewhat random they are actually developed with some actual thought behind it.

But there are even items in the shop, which Jake doesn't really approve of because he only likes to rely on his skills and strength.

.....

They were currently walking towards one of the Yakuza headquarters, they heard the sounds of someone waking up so they looked at the person who Brad was carrying.

He was fidgeting around a little bit and he looked like he was about to wake up.

"Put him down."

Brad did as told and put the guy on the ground.

*BAM*

Jake stomped him in the stomach and yelled. "WAKE UP!"

*COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH*

The boy instantly woke up and started coughing a lot.

The boy looked up and saw the person who he was aiming to kill in front of him.

But unlike back then, now he's not half naked and has a blue sweater on him.

When he was trying to kill him back then he was blinded by rage, he who prided himself in being in full control of his emotions.

It didn't take long for the Yakuza to take action after the C-graded skills appeared.

They learned how the system works and took advantage of that.

They started killing innocent civilians in order to get their skills.

His little sister being no exception, while he was in another part of the city, his sister was home.

He desperately run home in hopes of his sister being safe when he saw what kind of hell ensued.

Unlucky for him, he arrived home too late and was a witness of the Yakuza's brutality.

A group of armed men would infiltrate people's houses while the other groups would fend off the police.

His sister was down on the ground, riddled with holes. He couldn't even be there for her in the last moments of her life.

On that day, he cried like he never did in his entire life.

That's why he shot towards Jake when he first saw him. A guy with a calm expression on his face, tattoos on his chest and arms drove leisurely in the middle of a burning city.

That would certainly make you not only think he is in the Yakuza, but even as a high ranking one at that.

He controlled his emotions this time, he knew that the person in front of him has him hostage and struggling would only get him killed.

Now he has one goal in mind, wipe out all of the Yakuza so he can get revenge for his sister.

Jake looked at the boy on the ground who was looking at him with dead eyes.

He literally looked like he lost all purpose in life, just like the people Jake first saw when he first entered the city.

He the same look on his face as the people who gave up on everything.

But Jake saw another thing in his expression, you could see and feel that he was suppressing his emotions and true intentions.

Jake crouched near him and said while signaling Jason to touch his head. "Oi, why did you shoot at me?"

"I thought you were an enemy."

Jake looked at Jason and saw him shake his head in affirmation.

Jason had acquired a skill that lets him become a lie detector by touching the target's head directly.

"Alright, who is this enemy you speak of."

"The Yakuza."

Jake saw that Jason nodded his head in affirmation this time too.

Jason was right, the boy in front of him really thought that he was a yakuza and shot at him.

Jake pointed over his shoulder and said. "You mean those guys?"

They were currently in the middle of a street with destroyed black SUVs all around them, behind Jake there were like 20 dead Yakuza men, there were bent guns and destroyed weapons all on the ground and you could see that the men didn't die easily either.

Some of them had their bodies bent in half while others had their face squished, there were even signs of the entirety of their legs being crushed to the ground.

The boy's eyes widened and he said. "Why did you do that to your own troops?"

Jake scoffed and said. "My own troops?

These scums have the audacity to try and become the most powerful force in Japan while I was gone.

I'm just putting them in their place."

"What do you mean?"

"As soon as that being appeared and gave us powers I escaped from Juvie.

And after that I completed a mission in order to see what it's all about.

And when I came back to the city I was welcomed by destruction and chaos.

Enough about me, what about you?

Why do you want to fight the Yakuza?"

The boy stayed silent and Jake said with a smirk:

"Is it for some crooked sense of justice?

Do you want to make the world a better place on your own or what?

No, judging from your expression there has to be some selfish reason involved."

The boy looked down and said. "Revenge. I want to kill those bastards who took everything I ever cared about away from me."

As he said that Jake couldn't see his expression, but his face was scrunched up and there was blood coming out of his eyes instead of tears.

"Revenge?

You are too weak to do that."

The boy flinched hearing that.

"But I didn't say it's impossible."

The boy looked up with a surprised expression and he didn't say anything, he waited for Jake to say more.

"My goal is to get rid of the Yakuza and create the biggest guild in the world.

I'm not asking you to join me right now, I'm asking for a cooperative relationship between my organization and you as a person.

Think about it. We have no bad blood between us whatsoever, but we do have a common enemy.

What I'm proposing you is this, work with me in order to bring the Yakuza down.

If we fail, we fail.

But if we win....

You will have to swear your loyalty to me for the rest of your life."

The boy seemed interested but there was just a little factor he was doubtful about.

They were only three people in total, so how could they bring down the biggest organization in Tokyo currently?

Jason could sense that the boy was doubting them a little bit so he said.

"Look around you, all of these scums were all destroyed by us.

While me and the guy you fought are strong, we are nothing compared to the boss."

He looked around and saw even more people dead or knocked out on the ground, cracks in cars and even cement.

The boy got up on his feet and said. "Alright, I'll work with you.

If you help me get my revenge I will server under you."

Jake had a big smile on his face and he said. "That's the right choice!

By the way, what's your name?"

"Yuuji Kazami."

"Alright. From now on you will be the sniper, give me your pocket information so I can add you to my contacts."

The pocket can be used as a kind of cellphone, you can make calls and even send messages, so using a phone would be dumb at this point.

They finally arrived near one of the Headquarters, it was a big company building surrounded by trucks with anti aircraft weapons on the back.

Even trucks with machine guns were there, and if that wasn't enough you could see a lot of men dressed in military uniforms, armor and helmets fully equipped with guns.

Jason looked at all of the artillery and said. "This is way worse then I expected.

It looks like they robbed military armories and more."

Jake looked at the tall building and said. "I think this is their main base, but are they so dumb to let these anti air crafts vehicles here?

We can just steal them and shoot the building down."

Jason shook his head and said. "Look closer, they are empty.

And they probably have snipers so they are waiting for someone to try and steal them, Brad's invisibility is on cooldown so we can't make him infiltrate the building."

Jake looked down at the entrance and said. "I'll go first, you guys come in after I give you the signal while Kazami covers for me with his skill."

Kazami's skill is minor telekinesis, he can control one single object that's relative to his lifting strength.

While it may look not so good, paired with his sniper skills he is able to manipulate the bullet into moving however he wishes.

Meaning that if he can see the target, he can take the shot.

Kazami was positioned on a building 1km away from the headquarters so he was mostly covered.

He gave the details to his three underlings and summoned his gloves.

"Time to get nasty with it."
