Chapter39

#Chapter39

An Ideal Mate

Until Phoebe happened.

Letting her leave like that is so cowardly, but if I chase her down, she'll run farther away than she initially intended to. It was as if she's genuinely afraid of me. Afraid of what I'll do, or what I'll say.

But I'm here, suddenly afraid she would leave me. Is this the pain she has gone through before? Was it worse?

As I contemplate my next move, with my pancakes left untouched and my coffee left cold, there was a rap on the door. Immediately darting my head towards the door, and with my senses numbed a bit, I was hoping against hope that Phoebe came back for me.

That we would finally talk things out, and be done with it. She and I haven't been doing things that mates usually do. Have I been too engrossed with my delta duties that I have failed her as a mate? Did she feel neglected every time I left her for another meeting without a word?
