Suddenly, Elara and Varyn exchanged bewildered glances.
The two of them were hardly allies; Varyn had plans to forcefully take Elara away from the Vard Family, stealing her from Lucas, while Elara was resolutely unwilling to be with him.
The uneasy truce they had managed to form just because of the pressure of the Toraz town seemed as fragile as glass.
Just as they thought the massive ship had departed, they felt its presence once more.
Wallace's voice boomed from the sky, shattering the brief calm. "You there, the one who pleaded for the Warthog," he called out, his tone demanding.
"Who are you? Your style of clothing is different from the townspeople."
Elara took a deep breath, her voice steady but nervous. "I am Elara Vard, from the Vard family."
"And what are you doing here, Elara Vard?" Wallace asked, his tone growing sharper.
Elara hesitated before replying, "I was engaged to Lucas Toraz. I came here—"
