I hear a faint sound of an engine coming up the driveway. I take a peek out the window and the first thing I see is a tall man getting out of the backseat. It's him. His men surround him and he gives them an order while he stalks toward the front door where I can't see him anymore.
Suddenly feeling nervous, I pace the room, wondering if I should meet him downstairs or wait for him to come up. I choose the former.
I grab a robe and put it on as I stride down the hallway and stairs. He's standing in the foyer, talking to Enzo with his brows drawn tight together. Something's wrong…or maybe he's still mad at me.
He looks over as I reach the landing, my hands clenching as I hesitate. He appears more rugged than the last time I've seen him. There's the cut on his forehead and a small bruise on his cheek that's turning yellow-green. He has dark circles around his eyes as if he hasn't been sleeping for days. The sight of it makes my heart quiver.
