'It reacted to my chakra!?'

Gaara was both excited and afraid of the possible consequences of what he did, but he believed that as long as he did not perform excessive testing on the key then everything's gonna be A okay. Still this was something he did not expect.

'Could it be?'

A plausible explanation popped inside his head non-stop but one particular scenario peaked his interest and was thus planning to move on from that idea as a start.

'Let's try it then.'

Gaara sat in a meditative lotus position and began cycling his chakra. Everything was normal at first but a foreign energy slowly entered his body and mingled with his chakra. There was no rejection or violent reaction from their interaction. In fact, he felt reinvigorated despite not completing his sleep. More than that he felt the elation in each of his cells as they became exposed to the energy.

'Since they kept on saying that gelel is the essence of life in the anime it should hold some kind of truth to it or at least some basis for their belief.'

Gaara stopped hesitating and stimulated his chakra in overdrive. He can feel the changes happening in his body, his clothes tightened and ripped due to an artificial growth spurt caused by the excess of life energy around him, his hair grew longer, and surprisingly a thick manly man brow appeared or more like grew on his face.

He slowly lost himself in his meditation and forgot everything that was happening around him. Right now, he felt content, satisfied, happy. Some kind of fulfillment he never knew he lacked. A mystical feeling like an upgraded version of psychedelic drugs raging in his system. Well no rage coz psychedelics is chill.

Gaara opened his eyes after an unknown amount of time. He slowly examined his body and marveled at the changes that occurred from that one sitting. He stood up and only then realized that he is now completely naked. His torn clothes are lying on the cold floor. Kahiko and Nerugui are gone.

The whole mine is still lit by the gelel minerals, but unlike the previous state where it is brimming with the light of life it is now obviously dimmer.

'Does this mean that there is a limit to how much one can absorb?'

He then shook his head. He did not understand anything from what ever occurred in this ruin but he decided to properly study this ruin as one of his priority projects. He decided to summon clones to study the ancient inscriptions in this ruin. They will not leave until everything is documented and accounted for especially the space-time formation in the middle of the hall they are located in.

A shadow clone appeared and to Gaara's panic he failed to recognize himself. His hair grew to his waist and became as black as midnight, his eyes are as red as blood unlike the previous pale blue-green. He stood two meters high at most and he had lean but clearly defined muscle lines. If he is on earth then someone would already be advising him to drink water, because it may look cool but this is dangerous to the health. Well he isn't on earth and his state is not similar to the parched muscles of gym enthusiasts in his past life. His whole body radiated immense strength. Something he has never felt before.

'Well shit... How do I go explaining this shit? I look cool though.'

"Hey transform to our previous form."

The clone nodded his head in understanding and prepared to transform when his body suddenly wiggled flesh, bones, everything changed and a Gaara in his original look completely clothed stood before the original.

'What f...'

"What did you do?"

"Try it yourself. You'll see."

'Now that I'm more sober, I think I didn't even make a hand sign in making a clone!'

'Shadow clone jutsu!'

He said in his head and nothing happened. His eyes brightened and he decided to try once again. This time he planned to do it with intention unlike the previous lax command he gave himself.

'Holy crap! WTH is this?'

'Transformation jutsu!'

"Hahahahahahahahaha"

"This is definitely something out of canon but I like it!"

Gaara made more clones and his clones made clones. he wasn't planning to reveal this change and this ruin to anyone for the time being. He will first study it and wait for the arrival of Haido who has in his possession the book of gelel. As for Temujin? He could just go and enjoy his life preaching about his utopia in the warring lands or something.

Now that he's all set Gaara prepared to leave his clones here to continue his quest to look for Roran, who knows maybe another surprise is waiting there for him. The old man Kahiko and Narugui can enjoy their freedom in the meantime as they are yet to be of significant use, besides Haido and Temujin have their own gelel stones that he can collect for research.

It was daytime when Gaara walked out of the ruins. He didn't want to leave the place without insurance after all. If push comes to shove and his hands are forced he wouldn't hesitate to blow up the entire thing to kingdom come. Significant changes occurred in the immediate surroundings of the ruin plants thrived the closer they are to the ruin and the trend extended up to a few miles around the ruin.

Fresh ripened fruits can even be seen in some of the present trees. These trees however and fruits are unknown to Gaara and he did not want to try these things himself. Kagebunshin to the rescue once again and the fruits are confirmed to be edible. For now. Only a few minutes has passed after all.

Gaara summoned Tutubi from a scroll and took to the skies leaving the clone to his fate. He has been tasked to study the surrounding plants. Suna is still in dire straight and if the gelel mines can help alleviate their problem with food then that alone is enough for him to relocate the residents of Sunagakure to here in the future.
