Chapter 5: Can I have this dance?

Chapter five: Can I have this dance?

*At the party*

The trio got to the party pretty much later but just in time before the dance began. As soon as they stepped into the hall, the Melodious slow and rhythmic music began, people started pairing and led each other to the dance floor.

Laura and Matthew; the newest couple in town took that as a cue to have their own dance as well.

'Can I have this dance, milady?' Matthew asked like a gentleman that he was as he stretched his hand.

'Yes of course, my lord.' Laura curtsied as she took his hand. They both chuckled as Matt led them to the dance floor.

Collin was completely oblivious to what was going on until he saw his friends walked by him unto the dance floor. He didn't have a strange feeling with them dancing together… after all they are friends, at least that's what he thought.

'Hey Collin.' He heard and then turned in the direction of the voice.

'Oh Mimi, here you are!' Collin spoke. This is the girl Collin liked since they were in grade 3.

'Yes I'm here. How is it going?' Mimi asked.

'Good.' Collin was starting to sweat profusely.

'Are you okay?' Mimi asked.

'Huh? Yes…yes I'm fine.' He stuttered.

'Alright…. Seems like we both do not have a partner to dance with.' She chuckled.

'You're right.' Collin averted his gaze. He really wanted to ask her to dance but his reserved nature would one day be the death of him.

'So…. do you want to dance?' Mimi asked. Collin felt ashamed.

He should do this as the man but here he was shaking. He wanted to mock himself.

'S-sure.' He replied and led her to the dance floor.

The melodious music ended a bit later and the couples dispersed. After that, there was entertainment until midnight and everyone went to their respective homes.

'I'll see you tomorrow, Laura.' Matt kissed her on the forehead. Laura was caught by surprise not because she didn't think Matt would kiss her but because he did so in front of Collin and Mimi; who had surprisingly became close over the night.

'What is going on here?' Collin's eyes bulged out of their sockets at the scene before them. He wouldn't deny it but he's been feeling some strange vibes between his friends… but he didn't think much about it and just brushed it off. But now!… the scene before him was too hard to brush off.

'Why did he kiss your forehead, Laura? Is that a new way friends say goodnight?' Collin was confused or maybe… in denial.

They can't be dating…right?

'Uhm buddy… I should have told you this earlier.' Matt turned to face Collin.

'What? What do you want to say?' Collin had a bad feeling about this. He anticipated what Matt was going to say but he just didn't want it to be true.

'Laura and I are together. We're in love with each other.' Matt entwined his fingers with Laura's.

'Oh… that's so nice. Congrats.' Mimi spoke. She was shocked. Matt and Laura would be mistaken for siblings if one didn't know them well.

'What's nice about this?' Collin murmured. He didn't like the idea of his friends dating, not because he has feelings for Laura or he just wanted to antagonize. But he just didn't want them to….

'Collin… are you upset?' Laura asked. She knew Collin wouldn't approve of their relationship.

'Can't you tell?!' Collin snapped.

'But why?' Laura was curious.

'I don't know… I just don't want you guys to be together.' He lied; averting his gaze.

'I think I know why you don't approve of this.' Matt clicked his tongue and Collin raised his head up… afraid that Matthew caught him red handed.

'W-what?' He stuttered.

'You think laura and I won't give you the attention you used to get from us and that we would forget you 'cause we would be busy with our relationship. Am I wrong, Collin?' Matt leaned forward as he chuckled.

'I-I don't know what you're talking about.' Collin denied.

Now that Matt said it, Laura couldn't help but to think about what he said. That's true but really silly of Collin to think. He was acting so childish.

'Oh my Collin… so that's the reason?' Laura laughed.

'Stop! I don't know what he's talking about.' He crossed his arms on his chest. Mimi couldn't help but smile at how adorable Collin looked.

'You're so childish.' Laura spoke.

'Honestly man, I don't know why you're upset. After all, you've got a girlfriend too.' Matt nodded at Mimi

Collin glared at Matt as his ears burned from blushing too hard.

'W-what are you saying?' Collin stuttered as he took a squint at Mimi who couldn't help but blush too.

'You don't have to worry Collin… we're still gonna be here for you.' Matt patted his back but Collin swatted his hand off and held Mimi by the hand.

'Get on with your relationship… I don't want to see you both in my house ever again.' He stomped away and dragged Mimi along.

'He's so adorable.' Laura chuckled as they watched the other couple walk away.

'And childish.' Matt added.

'You shouldn't have done that in front of them.' Laura hit Matt on the shoulder.

'What? Why? Can't I kiss my girlfriend goodnight?' Matt whined.

'Shut up Matthew.' Laura laughed.

Matthew walked Laura home before going to his own house.

'Congratulations son.' Mark greeted as soon as Matthew entered into the house.

'Thanks Uncle… and thanks for the advice too. It really worked.' He grinned.

'I can tell. Go to bed and don't think too much… you need to rise up early in the morning, we've got work to do.' Mark said as he walked away.

'Sure. Goodnight Uncle.' Matt grinned and dashed into his room happily. He started remembering everything that happened… he couldn't help but to blush endlessly. Oh Laura! His heartbeat!

Finally he fell asleep.
