Fox Fire (BL)

Hyeon Falken travels abroad for work to escape his toxic home. Instead, he strolls right into the wolf’s den—literally. The aurora is the afterlife for animal spirits. The good souls are sent to the northern lights, but Hyeon finds himself its counterpart with the malicious souls in the south. Those terrifying animal deities that were worshipped by people for over a millennium? Yeah, those are real. And the person Hyeon works for? He’s a rough-headed canine that’s supposed to initiate the end of the world—Ragnarok. Rather than gaining experience at a normal job, it becomes Hyeon's burden to serve his soul to this untamed beast on a silver platter. Will he be eaten by the wolf, or will the wolf be ravaged by his new assistant? Warning: Some chapters contain strong language, sexual themes, and fighting violence. Fired?

Hyeon woke up to stuffy darkness. He panicked at first until the soft bedsheet grazed his face. He must've tossed and turned while sleeping since the blanket was tangled around his legs. His clothes were slightly damp with sweat from the mild fever.

There was someone laying with him under the covers. Fenrir. Did he get a fever, too? Or were gods immune to such trifle sicknesses? Hyeon reached over until his arm draped over his stomach, pulling the wolf closer. He didn't deny his advancements, so Hyeon continued by pulling up Fenrir's shirt…or shirts – there was more than one layer this time which was unusual. Hyeon lightly kissed his abs, wanting to go further despite being sick. There was a lot of pent-up frustration after that disheartening dream he had with his phoenix.

*Huh, his body shape feels different today.*

He moved his hand down further south, wanting what was inside of Fenrir's pants. Instead of feeling the outline of his crotch, there was a soft tail covering that area. As Hyeon's grogginess faded, he noticed a second tail against his leg. Just how many…?

His feet kicked off the thick blanket. He fully expected to see a black-haired man with amber eyes to be there. Rather, Hyeon was greeted by a servant with white hair and nine fluffy tails splayed around the bed.

Hyeon nearly leaped out of the bed from fright. "Christ, Haruma!" He sat up, running his hand through his ashy hair. "Why are you here?!"

"Master told me to watch you until you woke up," Haruma said nonchalantly like this was totally normal for him. The crazy fox was just lying there with his hands folded together on his chest…in the god of destruction's bed…with his partner…

"I don't think he meant to watch this close." Hyeon silently thanked that Fenrir didn't return at this particular moment. "And don't let me assault you like that," he scolded. "Where is he?"

"Fixing the gymnasium room. Master said he wants to do the next initiation within the week."

"But Sani isn't here?" He knew that for Fenrir to do such a taxing job, the higher-up gods wanted a chaperone on an equal level with him in case he went berserk. The image of the giant black wolf almost killing him during Rojo's induction flashed through his mind. Hyeon shuddered.

"It's not my job to question what he does. You shouldn't either," Haruma told him.

Hyeon sighed, getting out of bed. He smelled breakfast in the office room. Wasn't he supposed to get his own food? "You didn't have to bring me anything. I feel fine enough to do it on my own."

Haruma got up. "I didn't. That was courtesy of Shika," he informed while fixing his clothes. Hyeon blushed since it was he who untucked his superior's shirt.

He thought about his friend. "Is he doing better? And what about you? Because, you know…" Hyeon asked quietly, pointing to his chest. The last time he saw Haruma was when he attempted to rip out his own heart.

"We're fine. He still needs more time."

Not a lot to say, as always.

Hyeon went over to the closet to change into casual clothes, rather than his work uniform. He already knew Fenrir would want him to rest until he recovered. His body still felt hot, so he could only imagine the wolf's angry reaction at seeing him return to his duties.

Nammi was curled up on one of Fenrir's white shirts again. She trilled in response at seeing her soul bond. He stroked her head.

Hyeon sorted through his shirts from Stewart Island, choosing which one to wear. Why did his side feel so empty? Something was off.

He inspected the large, vacant space next to his informal wear. Then, it hit him.

*Why are all of my uniforms gone?*

Everything – from his shoes to his ties – had disappeared.

"Hey, Haruma, have you seen my work clothes?"

The head servant, still adorned with his fox ears and tails, answered from across the room since he was making the bed. "I was instructed to remove them. Master said you're no longer a servant here."
