And then there were two

They rush to the hospital, Orchid swayed as Samuel jogs, Racquel follows his pursuit right behind, his condition didn't seem dire and as Samuel had said, he just might have just lost his consciousness from exhaustion, but Racquel was worrying, the last time they faced Jake the injuries were much more serious, internal damage was to be expected. She didn't want to take any risks. If there was any internal damage that could severely affect organ function, like what she and Alek had experienced, they had better get him checked as soon as possible.

She rushed in shoving the glass doors of the building hastily, she scrambled in to find any on-call doctors, she spots one sipping coffee at the counter from his mug, he looks as though he was flirting with one of the nurses stationed there, she was skeptical looking at him but she had no choice, Racquel dragged him by his wrist with no acknowledgment, he was stunned trying to get to her grip to loosen from his wrist which only tightens as he struggles, once the doctor saw the lifeless body in Samuel's open hands he rushed to get Orchid into a bed. He proceeded with several physical checkups to gauge the severity of the Orchid's condition.

Once done he start some light healing spells instantly, the magic glow a bright green. He called towards the vicinity of the counter, causing the nurses who he was just talking to, to jolt up and rush towards him.

In the country, healers become the healthcare officers that aided citizens, they use a mixture of magic and science to treat them. These are the very few professions that require the work of healers and are dominated by them. Since they were adept at using healing magic, lots of them move into more scientific studies after school to land them a spot in these hospitals. The roles of medical professionals and military healers don't equate, as military officers usually are only capable of using magic as they do not further their studies after school due to the higher costs of such studies.

The doctor that called upon the nurse earlier gave her precise orders to follow, as he finished she rushed in to get them done, he used a stethoscope to check up on his vitals, listening to his heartbeat. They push his bed away in line of placing it in an empty ward. Racquel followed pursuit, she stood by the bed, looking at the hospital personal checking up on Orchid. As one of the nurses bumped into her, the coffee-sipping doctor had asked her to step back seeing as she was hampering their work.

"Miss I know you might be worried, but you need to step back so that we can do our job," he remarks helping the nurse pick up the tray she dropped, Racquel looks at him with indignation, walking away past her brother towards the entrance of the hospital that she had bolted in from.

She gets frustrated at the doctor's remarks but she knows he just wanted to ease the treatment process by having no disturbance but at this point, her brain was jammed with worrying thoughts, that with the remark earlier made it hard for her to keep calm, his words hit a chord within her making her break a fuse.

Samuel came out looking for her, spotting her pacing in frustration up and down the stairway. He looks at her worryingly and goes up to her, awaiting backlash from his sister, he braces himself,

"Racquel?" he says softly trying his best to minimize the repercussions.

"WHAT?" she shouts, making Samuel stagger back

"You have got to calm down okay, he said that so that he could help your friend," as he says that he starts mulling over, why he said what he just had said, he knew the way this was playing out was not going to be in his favor. Telling a girl to calm down was something that every man shouldn't do but realizing this too late wouldn't do anything for him.

"I AM CALM OKAY! I just....." she starts tearing up, she bobs her head down,

"I shouldn't have let him go alone with Jake, I...I...should have done something." he blurts out, regretting as thoughts of the past start flashing back within her mind.

"What do you mean?" Samuel was confused about what his sister was spouting. He didn't know what fueled the whole conflict. Alek forgot to mention why both of them had met the blond in the first place.

"What does this have to do with Jake and Orchid meeting?" he asks

"I..." she falls into a squat burying her head into her arms whilst hugging her knees.

"SiS sToP, iTs NoT YoUr FaUlt" he blurts out trying to stop his sister from crying, he started to panic as his beloved sister started balling even more.

He goes to her side squatting down and begins rubbing her back, sweat starts to build on his forehead as he racks his mind thinking of how to conciliate her...as the scene was playing out the doctor who was treating Ochrid's wounds came through the glass doors and looks and the brother and sister,

"You don't have to worry he's alright, he doesn't seem to have any other problems than slight bruising to his limbs, he should wake up in a few hours." hearing the doctor's words Racquel looked up and more tears starts to leak out her eyes.

"Racquel! Racquel! he said he was okay...now, now stop crying" he says still panicking. The doctor looks at them and starts chuckling.

Unfornutaley for the doctor he was soon gets called upon as one of the nurses rushed out to tell him on another patient needs his tending to,

He rushes in after the nurse, catching up to her. They discussed something while walking into another ward, the doors close, and the sight of them walking vanishes.

Racquel got up in an instant and looks for Orchid's bed, she looks at him lying there peacefully with an IV drip attached to his wrist. She starts tearing at the view of the man bedridden, still blaming herself for putting him there.

Alek looks around coming into the ICU walking aided with a pair of crutches and a cast wrapped on his right leg. He smiled as Racquel came into view but as he gets closer he could see dread overlaying her face. He gets worried and starts to edge closer, as he did Orchid's sleeping body comes into view, shocked he stood there staring blankly,

Alek looks to Racquel about to ask, but looking at her, he knew she was not in the state of mind to fill him in on what transpired, she always complains about Orchid and how he puts everything on himself but whenever she would say that Alek agreed and as well thought of her as a hypocrite because she would do the exact same, she would look back over analyzing on what she could have done to change any ill-fated outcome. It was like a kettle calling another kettle a kettle.

He extends his arm grabbing Racquel's other shoulder pulling her closer to him, she buried her face into his shoulder when given the chance.

Samuel seethes at the slight, seeing his sister coddled by a guy in broad daylight made his blood boil he was about to equip his fan but he didn't want to cause a scene, he knew his sister was already sad as is, so making this a bigger deal than it is will only further aggravate her, and that's the last thing he wants if his sister needed this guy's shoulder instead of his than he wouldn't mind but he is going to have a serious talk with her after this whole thing was over.

'I need to ask her to get some female friends. Why does she only hang out with guys?' he looked at them creasing his eyebrows in irritation. He worried that maybe these two actually might be a thing, he wasn't joking when he said that he only wanted her to get together with someone when she was about 30, maybe even older, she's way too young to be crying in someone's shoulder. He silently pledges to get her admitted into an all-female healer school henceforward.
