Waking Up At Rock Bottom

In a forest, trees sway gently with the wind. Sunlight slowly fading as night approaches. Near the boundary of a pond, small creatures are gathering peacefully. Stopping for a moment to quench their thirst before they return to their nests to rest. Unbeknownst to them, underneath the water surface, a life form has just awoken.

{Rebooting}

'So dark... where am I?'

He reaches his arm out to feel for the surroundings.

He feels only mud and gritty sand. The water presses down on him, resisting against his movement. He can feel his body's condition.

'Not good.'

The entire left side of his body, from the face all the way to his hip is in shambles. Entire pieces ripped off. Scratches and rust cover his body. Left arm and leg completely missing. He doesn't remember how he got in this situation.

He does know, however, that if he wants to live he will have to get to the surface. At the bottom of the pond he begins to move. Slowly using the right side of his body to claw and kick through the mud and rocks toward the surface. Taking a while to reach the surface where he is greeting by the last fleeting rays of sunlight. Giving no thought to the creatures startled by his sudden appearance, he lay, lower half still submerged and upper half laying in the mud of the embankment.
