For Mack and Vorick Evergreen, the princes of Evergreen kingdom, life was simple. The Awakening Ceremony

Vorick was perplexed. Waking up to find Mack not only in his room but in his bed watching him sleep, like some sort of creeper, was extremely out of sorts. Plus he was crying, though he tried to hide it unsuccessfully. He then, was acting weirder then usual. Why would he offer to help me get ready we have people for that? Then their was all the strange words he said. What did he mean by no matter how far we are apart?

These were the thoughts that were running through Voricks head as he walked up to the platform that was temporarily erected in the front courtyard. As he focused on the task at hand he glanced around and noticed all the nobles children watching him in anticipation. As the heir to the throne he was expected to get a strong affinity so his reputation was riding on this moment. He stopped just before the platform and glanced at Veritas who gave him the go ahead to begin his awakening.

He walked up the stairs and into the center of the platform where he sat down and began to meditate. This platform is actually unnecessary as most kids awaken their core naturally. This just allows the awakener to speed up the process and puts on a bit of a show for the others watching.

An hour passed which was unexpected of a genius like Vorick. Even the weakest of the noble children was able to awaken their core in under 30 minutes. They were starting to get impatient and started to think that maybe the heir to the king was a dud. But that thought vanished as quickly as it appeared when Vorick started emitting a strange golden aura. The audience members were confused as they had never seen an ability that had a golden energy. They new that most folks were elemental users. Fire gives off a red energy, water gives off a blue energy, earth gives of a gray energy while wind gives off a white energy. Their is also green which is a nature affinity their is purple which is a healing affinity plus many more but gold was so rare that none new what it ment.

Inside voricks core world

When he opened his eyes he was no longer sitting on the platform instead what he saw was a vast expanse of white not a single other color was present. However the space wasn't empty. Sitting in front of him was a boy of about 9 years old. The kid was thin as a board but was radiating a power that he couldn't understand. The situation seemed unreal that much power inside such a small boy "I don't even think dad could beat this kid" he thought. He looked the boy up and down. He had blond hair and golden eyes. His complexion was flawless from his little button nose to the freckles that splattered his nose and cheeks to his thin boyish frame. He was completely devoid of clothes aside from the very thick underwear he was wearing that looked very similar to a diaper but slightly more ancient. At this moment the boy spoke

"I've been waiting a long time to talk to you" said the boy

"Do I know you? You seem familiar but I would remember meeting someone like you. Your not someone that's easily forgotten"

"And yet most people have. They know of me and my deeds but their isn't a soul alive today that was alive when I was a mortal" said the boy

"Wait….you're not a mortal"

"No my name is Zhao Yang" he responded

"The Diapered God of Youth" asked Vorick "why are you in my body? Better yet why are you here talking to me?"

"I'm here talking to you because you are my direct descendant and one of the only ones capable of accepting my affinity" said the god

Vorick frowned "are you pulling my leg? Your a little kid, how can you produce children"

"First off I'm a god so producing kids is as easy as snapping my fingers. Second I'm not pulling your leg. You are in fact my to many greats to mention grandson"

"How does that work."

"It's a long story that we don't have time for what I will say though is this: if you want to get powerful then you may be required to make sacrifices in order to achieve it."

"Sacrifices….what kind of sacrifices" asked Vorick. The boy god looked sad for a moment then looked back at Vorick.

"The sacrifices are different for everyone. But everyone must make them to get stronger. Some arnt so bad gesturing to his midsection others can make you question weather it's really worth the pain involved. Now onto my power. I can't just give you the power all at once itll kill you. So I've Created a type of system that slowly gives you the power as you get stronger and complete missions set forth by the system. The sacrifice for integrating with the system is pretty steep."

"What type of system? And what's the sacrifice?"

"The system is based off of an invention from another realm called a computer game. I'm not going to waste my time explaining that to you. Anyway, the sacrifice is your ability to age."

"Your right that is steep. What happens if I choose not to except the system?"

"You won't be able to help your brother"

"What's wrong with my brother"

"Your parents ignored the advice that they were given at you and your brothers birth. Calling it a myth. Not that they would've been able to do anything. Your brothers fate Ultimately lies in your hands. Are you familiar with what happens to someone when their mana core is destroyed."

"They loose their cultivation and die"

"That's right and someone who never had one in the first place will live a relatively normal life until they reach their 10th birthday. You see wear I'm going with this."

"Mack doesn't have a mana core and my parents knew?"

The god of youth slapped his forehead "your brother is sick Vorick and if you don't help him he will die like all your distant relatives"

"So if I don't except your system, then I get to watch my brother die"

"Yes"

"I'll do it. Being a man in a world where my brother doesn't exist Wouldn't be a world I'd wanna be in."

"Very well my child. Awaken" he said as he snapped his fingers

When he opened his eyes the first thing he saw was a transparent screen with letters on it. He really hoped nobody else could see it Because he didn't know how to explain it.

[congratulations!!! Host has successfully activated the God of youth disciples system.

Anytime host wants to access the system merely think about it.

Please say or think: system interface]

Vorick thought about those words and another screen popped up with what looked like tabs at the top labeled: profile, skills, abilities, inventory, shop. He thought about the profile tab first.

Divinity points 100/100

Warning: host will not accrue divinity points on his own due to being in the human cultivation realm. They are a gift from your patron. Use them wisely]

How do I use divinity points" thought to himself. He looked at his other stats and frowned at the two above his divinity stat. He didn't want to be cute and innocent and wanted to be handsome and Fierce. But he remained himself that he's doing this for Mack. His strength was his strongest stat but he didn't know if 10 point was strong or not because he doesn't really have anything to compare it too. He decided to look at the system later. Right now his main focus was Mack. "I don't even know what to do to help him" he thought. Just then another screen appeared in his vision "this is going to get old quickly"

[A quest has been activated: cure brother of illness before it's too late.

Reward: instant level up, +1 skill card

Punishment if failed: the death of Mack Evergreen, loss of 8 years of age.

To access the details of the quest open the new skills tab]

Just then he heard the sound of someone clearing his throat. He dismissed the screen and noticed that everyone was staring at him.

"Is everything ok my prince….you've been standing their staring at nothing for about 10 minutes now" asked Veritas

Apparently only he could see the screens. "Oh…..sorry I was just trying to get used to the new power."

Veritas nodded and concluded the ceremony with a few parting words. After he was finished Vorick followed his parents and entered the castle again. His father turned around and in an excited tone asked what his affinity was.

"My affinity is youth" he responded

"Youth….ive never heard of that one before" said Thomas

"Do you think it'll be strong" he asked

"Well considering The god of youth himself blessed me with this power. I'd say it has the potential to be overpowered." Said Vorick

"You were blessed by the god of youth" his mom asked "gods dont give blessings unless they want something or something's going to happen. And I've never heard of one blessing a kid at their awakening. We will have to ask Roy or Veritas what they think about this."

"Where's Mack I want to tell him about my awakening" he asked excitedly bouncing around

"You must be exhausted after that. why don't you head up to your room and relax for awhile we'll be up after bit and we'll talk more about your new powers." Thomas said as him and Mary turned and left.

"Something is definitely up. They didn't answer my question" he thought as he headed up to his room. He had a bad feeling about this whole situation. Of course he was terrified of losing his brother and best friend forever but his parents were acting weird. He opened the door to his room and walked in. And the first thing he saw was a trunk and on top of the trunk was a envelope. "Did someone give me a gift" he wondered out loud as he walked over. He noticed it was written in his brothers girly handwriting. "Oh it's from Mack" he said out loud as he opened the envelope. But the first words he saw when he pulled the parchment out filled his heart with dread.

Hang on Tight Brother for heartbreak is the worst of all pain

He opened the parchment and began to read.

I don’t like saying goodbye. even writing about it was heard to get through without tears involved
