Nicholas entered into the forest and began to trek through with the help of the compass he'd found and the map he'd scribbled onto the rock face.
The between the beach and the forest's atmosphere was immediately noticeable whilst the beach had the sunlight that heated the air and the cool ocean breezes that waft coolly over you the forest had neither, the sun's light was blocked out by the forest canopy barely able to peep through the minute gaps in the canopy, and they are felt heavier maybe due to humidity caused by the trapped heat or because of stagnancy of the air or possibly both.
The sudden change made Nick a bit uncomfortable and uneasy, but he continued to march on because after all it wasn't all bad.
As he was marching through the forest he began to hear the song of the birds that called this forest their home and this brought him a sense of tranquility, settling him from his earlier unease.
With nothing but solitude, Nick wanted to pre-occupy himself, so he started to question himself about the multiple possibilities of what was happening to him yet again, all the while these thoughts raced through his mind like it was a NASCAR race.
Why was he here? who put him here? what was their purpose for putting him here? were there other people on the island? or was he alone? what time of day was it?, maybe he should have checked he was on the beach with a clear view of the sky, he chuckled to himself, feeling like an idiot for not checking previously.
He made an internal resolution to make sure to check if he finds a clear view of the sky later, along with this thought Nick felt strange about himself as he felt like telling time using the sun, a commonly known skill at least in this era, not that he knew what era it was exactly.
'Perhaps I'll see a dinosaur or something', Nick chuckled as he thought to himself. A thought both entertained him and frightened him. Hopefully he doesn't have to crouch slightly and hold out his hand.
….
He resumed focus on his walking.
As he went along through the forest he was making sure to look out for the landmarks that were marked on the map, he wanted to make sure that he didn't miss any of them or else he would be lost for more time than he would like.
Now again with nothing but silence as he was walking through the forest all Nicholas could think of was his memories' no not like he could remember them let's simply he wanted to know why he couldn't remember them. He was sure that memories were something that should be very concrete, and he was also aware that amnesia was something that didn't happen regularly as people would have thought.
He tried hard to recall, but each time he tried to focus, his mind felt like someone was bludgeoning him from behind with the most dense piece of metal imaginable.
It just didn't make any sense, nothing made sense in this situation, the fact that he could recall and do many things, yet he could not remember events that happened in his life almost as if he never experienced any experiences
'Maybe that was it, maybe he was simply a blank slate and clone or am I a mad science experiment that the scientists were now testing, his mind went all over the place' Nicholas thought to himself.
'Hopefully I won't be probed and forced to be livestock if I've been captured by aliens' he thought again.
You'll come to find out that Nick often has very abstract and strange thoughts.
…
Time past
Roughly around 3 hours
after quickly but carefully trekking through the forest.
Nicholas came upon his first Landmark or what seemed to be his first landmark on the map one of the keys what is a rectangle shape that seemed to represent a building of sorts and the place that Nick was right now was a cabin.
Nicholas cautiously approaches the cabin.
There were no traps or at least none went off, luckily
Nicholas was ever so glad for that, he wouldn't have wanted his foot to be blown off or for him to be sin sky-high 30ft (9.14 m) ground after stepping on a landmine or something.
Nicholas breathed a sigh of relief, thanking whatever higher being he'd have believed in before, he didn't know which it was or if he believed in one previously but being in his current predicament he felt as if he needed a little divine protection, in fact, he needed all the protection he could and hopefully there were some in this cabin.
Upon reaching the entrance of the cabin, Nick realized that the cabin was locked
And the cabin was not locked with a simple padlock it had a keypad and the door was metal he tapped on the door to see how thick it was how would you do this simple he would listen for the pitch of the sound that the and as it was being knocked on if the pitch was high then the door was not that thick if the pitch was low then he would know that the door was thick.
Or at least that's how he thought it would work
Nicholas went on to tap the door and when he did the pitch was quite low this Nicolas indicated like the door was quite thick
There goes my hopes of kicking it in sigh
Nicholas let out a sigh at the end
Before attempting to break into the cabin, Nicholas thought it was a good idea to scout the rest of the area. He then turned to his left and walked around the perimeter of the cabin on the left side where he was there was a window what the window seem to be tinted not allowing him to see it to the other side possibly though someone might be on the other side watching him which give Nicholas a slight feeling of eeriness he felt unnerved, and he quickly moved to the back of the building so that he could complete his scouting when he reached the back of the building there did not seem to be anything remarkable, so he went to the right side of the cabin when he reached to the right side of the cabin he saw something quite strange engraved upon the wood it was a series of dashes and dots.
Play series of dashes and dots read like this:
. - - - - /. . . . . / - - - - - /. . . - -
Instantly Nicholas realized what this series of dashes and dots mint and without even thinking about it for a second his mind translated the dashes and dots into numbers and the solution to the series of dashes and dots came out to '1503'.
He went around to the door after solving the Morse code and input the code into the door before he quickly jumped back….
