Alpha Lycus’s POV
The Southern shifter border had always had fewer soldiers because of the terrain and distance from the shifter pack. I could guess why madman Leonardo chose it. It was surrounded by mountains and caves; hence he planned to conquer and claim it.
Fifty thousand soldiers?
His plan was clear. A massacre.
I had two options. Withdraw the shifters from the border, and by the time Leonardo got there, my shifters would be safe. This would deem me a coward of course but then I would have saved my people. Or fight.
“I prefer the first option. This way we have fewer deaths and make him feel that he has conquered the southern border.” I felt my mate intrude on my thoughts and send a message.
“Why are you intruding on my thoughts?” I scolded him.
“Our wolf let me in, Lycus. He is worried,” Salvatore responded.
‘I let him in. Our mate is strong. We need him,’ my wolf affirmed.
I smiled at the irony. A wolf praising a vampire.
