I pushed Alpha Lycus away. I walked to the window and stood staring into the night.
“Why the f*ck did you not stop them?” Did Lycus have any idea of how much I had put in to protect his pack for the last week? And here he was delivering such nasty news.
I tried to breath and the hunger hit. I stood there heaving and he pulled me closer in a warm hug.
I pushed him away and we ended up sprawled on the bed, shoulder to shoulder, belly to belly, thigh to thigh. I could tell he clung to me in apology. He pushed his face into my throat and pressed his lips against my ear. “Don’t be disappointed in me. Being a leader, I have to put my pack beyond my interest and desires.”
My anger subsided in a flash. Especially when he kissed my temple softly. “We agreed to work together. I came here to inform you before you heard it from anyone,” he continued.
I closed my eyes and inhaled his deep musky scent.
“Do you have a plan?”
