The mood inside the police precinct was that of a funeral. After exiting the police superintendent's office, Chief Hanks collapsed into a chair and closed his eyes, frozen like a corpse. Lily sat at a desk in the corner and began to clean up her things. She hadn't brought much with her, so it didn't take long. The surrounding detectives were busy writing out a report. They kept their heads down to avoid her eyes. But that was to be expected.
