Soraxia: Elements & Intrusion

Soraxia, a planet filled with various life forms, rich in magical energy (mana) and resources. With humans at the apex of all beings, blessed with diverse abilities and intelligence.

Most people in this world were magic users (mages) using mana to manipulate elements of their specialty. The elements of this world were that of water, wind, fire, earth, lightning, light and darkness.

The water element had healing abilities and could also be used in combat in its normal form or as ice.

The wind element grants the user agility and the ability to control the air around them using it for attack and defence.

An earth mage possesses sufficient defence, making them strong enough to withstand strong attacks while using the earth to fight back.

A fire user is capable of all-round destruction, in contrast to earth mages they are offence-oriented and are capable of mass destruction at their peak.

A lightning mage is capable of controlling lightning, possessesing explosiveness (short bursts of speed) more than agility, this doesn't make them any slower instead they have twice the speed but for short durations.

A light mage possesses sufficient power, speed equalling a wind user, ability to heal and faster mana regeneration while a dark mage is capable of stealth, mental attacks and draining the life force of living things and converting it to mana.

Light and dark mages are rare with only one in two-hundred being light or dark mages. Also, there is a prejudice against dark mages because of their abilities which could probably do more harm than good.

There were three kingdoms in the plane of Soraxia. The Eastern Kingdom known for their martial prowess as they formed the integration and refinement of techniques with mana.

The Western kingdom, having intellectual magic researchers involved in mana engineering, building tools and inventions using advanced magic principles, while creating theories on the use of magic.

The Northern kingdom, blessed with outstanding warriors and strategic minds bred for combat. They were always ready for war and used their terrain which was filled with wildlife and deadly beasts to train and tamper their bodies.

The magical abilities of all beings were ranked by Synes which were proportionate to levels, with one being the lowest and five as the highest. Each king of the three kingdoms were syne-five mages. This was the highest power and the actual limit until the period of the "intrusion".

*******

Outside the planet of Soraxia a flurry of ships were on the move with a gigantic one leading fifteen others. In the spaceships were humanoid creatures with features similar to humans except for the part where they didn't have a nose or human-like reproductive organs but grey skin and a tail.

"Commander, we've spotted a planet two light-years away from here", a subordinate informed the commander.

"Then send the co-ordinates of the planet to the sub-captains and relay the orders for a meeting on the convergence and exploration."

"Yes Commander!"

A while later the Commander turned on the screen for communication with the other sub-captains of the respective ships.

"We are going to explore the planets' biosphere and carry out a subtle investigation on the creatures of this planet. Converge with caution as we do not want what happened before to repeat itself, do not underestimate the enemy, no matter how uncivilized. We shall initiate the Assimilation approach"

"Yes Commander." And so they approached the planet.

The Knolls were a specie of humanoid creatures with a higher conceptual reasoning than that of humans, had cold personalities, believing in only strength and intelligence.

They tried to conquer a neighbouring planet but lost when the enemy engaged in a battle of mutual destruction, destroying both planets and wiping themselves out.

The term "assimilation approach" was a strategic move that was used in investigation and infiltration.

It is divided into four phases:

Phase one, monitor, observe and record.

Phase two, identify the strengths and weaknesses.

Phase three, learn and master the opponent's strength and faults.

Phase four, dominate and control.

Five ships landed on each kingdom while the leading ship was still outside the planet with the Commander in it.

"Sir we've landed on the outskirts of the western region and there are life-forms present." A Captain at the Western kingdom informed the Commander.

"The readings I've received indicate that the resources and potentials of this planet is suitable for us. What is required now is to check the inhabitants strength-wise and their level of civilization. Tread with caution, arm yourselves with level-six weapons but keep them hidden, we might be using the assimilation approach but we have no idea how strong they are. Let us see if they could be slaves or foe in the long run". The Commander while checking the device he used to get the information.

The arrival of extraterrestrial lifeforms would obviously cause commotion in any region.

The denizens of the western kingdom were surprised to say the least.

"Mom, what are those things in the sky?"

"John what are you talking…" The mother looked up at the sky and lost the means to conjure words.

The people were in a state of bewilderment, as this was a perplexing situation.

Creatures arriving with objects that blotted the sky and made them seem small.

In the throne room, the king, his advisors and generals were engaged in a serious discussion.

One of the generals spoke out.

"Your majesty, the flying beasts that landed on the outskirts of Zoon city have no mana readings and are actually transporting a set of creatures we have never seen before, they too have no mana signatures on them."

"So what you're implying is you have no idea of their capabilities." The King said with a significant scowl on his face.

The good news was the outsiders had no mana signatures, the bad news however, was that with every factor considered they were all on tenterhooks at this point, reason being they had no idea what these intruders were or what they could do. It all seemed ominous.

"These people may be weaker or stronger than us, but we shouldn't take any chances the…" while the king was talking one of the heralds came in.

"Your majesty, my apologies for the interruption, we have received messages of utter importance from the other kingdoms, the same case of intruders is also happening at their kingdoms."

The main reason why the Western kingdom was contacted first was because they were the most advanced technologically, with the invention of mana trains, teleportation portals for objects, and many more inventions. The gigantic flying objects shouldn't go past them. The creatures they saw however, told them otherwise.

"Tell them we don't know what these creatures are and they are right to be wary, as these creatures possess no mana fluctuations they may use power of another form."

"Yes your highness". The herald replied, taking a bow before leaving.

"Now, as I said before, we need to gather the troops from the first battalion, set up all defensive mechanisms both within and outside the city and…"

"Your highness! They are now at the borders!" Another herald came in shouting.

"Oh fvck!! Go set up the defensive mechanisms before they breach the kingdom. Zack, Saul come with me, the rest of you know what to do." The King said with a hint of agitation in his voice.

"Yes your Majesty!"

The emperor arrived at the border with two of his generals. He spoke out while revealing his magical aura, "Who are you people and what is your purpose for breaching the Western kingdom of Soraxia."

"We mean no harm"

"That does not answer my question"

"We are from a distant planet light-years away from here. As I said, we mean no harm but only came here to settle because our home planet was destroyed. Our only needs are refuge, we're willing to share our resources and knowledge with you all, if you would allow us."

The King was surprised but not quick to believe their intentions. "I will not grant you asylum in my kingdom until you've proven your words to be true. In any case, I will grant you the permission to reside outside the borders of the kingdom. As for the resources and information you possess. It is up to you to share it.

The Knolls understood the underlying meaning behind that statement. This was basically saying 'drop the valuables, while I determine your case'.

"We assent, to show we bear no ill will towards your kind, do consider our request for acquaintanceship."

They had to comply to these demands, acting obsequious and passive for their plans to work. Similar processes occurred at the other kingdoms with different results.

The Northern ruler chased them away completely, disregarding the gains they'd give while the Eastern ruler accepted them and their benefits.

A year later, the Northern and Eastern Kingdom experienced what could be known as technological development more notably in the Eastern Kingdom.

The Nortthern King only accepted the Knolls during this period.

At this point the Knolls began to live with the humans sharing (little) knowledge of science and technology. While the humans shared their knowledge of magic. This relationship went on for five years before the Knolls initiated a war against the humans.
