INT. WGBS-TV STUDIO -- DAY
MEGHAN SMILES at the CAMERA.
MEGHAN
Good evening. I'm Meghan Flint and joining me tonight on our panel is Pulitzer Prize winning reporter for the New York Times Courtney Land.
COURTNEY
Glad to be here Meghan.
INT. LIVING ROOM, HOUSE, SAMUEL HOME -- CONTINUOUS
GWEN
(impressed)
She looks great on TV. Doesn't she?
Samuel, shirtless and wearing his pajama pants, is in the KITCHEN washing the dishes while Gwen sits on the couch in the living room watching a TALK SHOW.
GWEN
Hurry up Samuel. Courtney is on.
Samuel puts the final dish down and walks to the LIVING ROOM and leans against the door frame.
INT. BOUS (BLOG OF UTAH SOCIETY) -TV STUDIO – CONTINUOUS
MEGHAN
And to her left is Stewart Gray, PR executive to Utah's police department. The state's leading safety and protection all by itself. Lovely to have you here.
STEWART
Always a pleasure.
MEGHAN
So, Courtney I'll start with you. It's been years since the missing children's incident that occurred and has caused much controversy with social media today. With everything you have known in the time you have been a very vocal proponent in the media for the man known as The Rogue Agent as an ally to peace against crime.
COURTNEY
I believe The Rouge Agent is being portrayed unfairly in the media and as a witness to what transpired before and after the events in Utah, I have no doubt in my mind that The Rogue Agent can and will aid our state even country in ways that I understand the population are finding difficult to accept right now.
MEGHAN
Stewart, you, and Attorney General have a different viewpoint. Correct.
STEWART
We share the same view as most of the country in that there is no evidence that this 'Rogue Agent' isn't a very real threat to the safety of every single human in our country. People believe more and more everyday of haunted animatronics and haunted amusement parks. It's damaging to business, but also causes conspiracy theorist on internet to try and explore old buildings for information. Even getting our hard-working men and women who protect us everyday from crime to have to deal with battering and questions of the Fazbear company. And with The Rogue Agent doing illegal work in stopping crime, causes little heroes to try and be vigilante of some sorts. I believe he damages our youth's mind.
COURTNEY
I disagree. Just look at the good works he's done not just in the Utah but around the country in his younger years.
STEWART
By good works do you mean breaking international law and causing incident after incident. MEGHAN, just tonight we are getting reports that he attacked people that claim to work with bunny who is interested in the business's secrets. All he is doing is drawing attention to something that will be cleaned up in a couple of days, so everything can go back to normal. What happened years ago to Fazbears entertainment was over exaggerated. We all know that.
INT. LIVING ROOM, SAMUEL HOME -- CONTINUOUS
Gwen looks at Samuel.
GWEN
He fought criminals in a cemetery. Why?
SAMUEL
He was angry. He's always angry.
INT. BOUS-TV STUDIO -- CONTINUOUS
STEWART
(To Meghan)
The robotics companies are furious. If we harbor The Rogue Agent, it looks like we are condoning his actions. While he's driving around dishing out his own brand truth and justice the sane people of are world are accusing us of aiding terrorists in his personal goals. But Ms. Land would have you believe that he's a hero for the people.
COURTNEY
(To Meghan)
The Utah senate conceded that The Rogue Agent not only saved those who could be murdered or captured. The lives here in Utah.
STEWART
Yet Ms. Land he couldn't save the people he claimed that he could never lose. Their lives right here in our city are dead. His family torn apart because of a mysterious incident doesn't make sense. What happened to his family was tragic yes, but how he tries to find out the truth only causes the people around him ore pain, and the state of Utah. To even the entire country. The city's police and emergency worker are what keeps us together. What part is The Rogue Agent playing in the reconstruction of the city? None. It is The Utah State that is fixing that damage that he ultimately caused. Even other robotic companies are giving money for the cities to keep the population healthy and safe. Silver Parasol Games claim all things he has investigated to be false and an attack on their company's brand. They head of their company are such great people.
LOUIS
(dismissive)
This isn't a PR piece for Silver Parasol Games Stewart. Also, the government has never cared about the slums tell now. Also, all the publicity you gain from this also makes you politicians tons of money. I know that for sure.
STEWART
Just pointing out that your illegal crime fighting friend isn't the only one doing good works.
COURTNEY
(To MEGHAN)
The Rogue Agent possesses so much potential as an ally of Utah rather than being labeled an enemy. I believe he's here to help despite what people like Stewart would have you believe.
STEWART
(scoffs)
You say he's here to help but what has he done? CEO Steven Wilson has poured over 5 billion dollars into the city's infrastructure. Giving many impoverished areas a new lease on life including rebuilding notorious slums, giving money to orphanages, and feeding the homeless.
COURTNEY
And which is still and enclave of violent crimes that they have thrown under the radar. We all want to know why Jeremy hurt himself on your job but because others around fall under the oath of Silver Parasol Games. We all know the company are hiding things they we must know.
STEWART
There is no evidence of that, and you shouldn't concern yourself with slanderous rumors. Jeremy was just sick and needed time off his job. He has schizophrenia, he heard voices do too over working and self-doubting. He is a sweet man and just needs help. And the game is still playable aground the world and no one else has complained.
COURTNEY
It isn't a rumor that the police department and Steven Wilson where allies with Don King one of the most notorious men to ever come out of the Slums. Also, Don King claims his family took down the Afton bloodline which holds no weight in evidence except from hearsay. You all think he's a hero that protects your business, but I never liked his ideologies. They are very harsh and aggressive to the small man.
STEWART
It's no secret that life didn't feed Mr. Wilson with a silver spoon. Opportunities I quite that you have Ms. Courtney.
MEGHAN
(interjects)
But look at Mr. Wilson now. Even Silver Parasol Games.
STEWART
Exactly MEGHAN. Steven Wilson and Silver Parasol Games are the real heroes of Utah needs. Not some reckless of duty officer who hides his true intentions of why he's really chasing this fictional problem. The killer is just a killer, not some fanboy of the missing children incident. That ended years ago. And it's not happening anymore. We don't have cults in our beautiful state.
INT. LIVING ROOM, SAMUEL HOUSE – CONTINUOUS
GWEN
He does not like him does he.
SAMUEL
(smiles)
Seems like he despises him a lot.
INT. BOUS-TV STUDIO – CONTINUOUS
Meghan smiles at the camera.
MEGHAN
Well, that's all we have time for. After the break we will show you exclusive report from our Climate Change analyst Kayla Ming. Courtney thank you for joining us.
COURTNEY
Thank you.
MEGHAN
And Stewart. Give my regards to Mr. Wilson.
STEWART
Sure thing.
INT. LIVING ROOM, KENT FARM -- CONTINUOUS
GWEN
I think she held her own.
SAMUEL
She always does.
GWEN
Why haven't you brought her around lately?
SAMUEL
Because you both get way too drunk.
GWEN
(indignant)
Whatever. Are you going to stay tonight?
SAMUEL
Sure. I got a doctor's appointment in the morning anyway.
GWEN
Ok well take out the garbage before you leave.
Samuel KISSES his girlfriend on the cheek.
SAMUEL
Sure Sweetheart.
INT. BOUS-TV STUDIO -- CONTINUOUS
Courtney steps off the stage where Stewart is having his MICROPHONE REMOVED.
STEWART
Don't feel too bad Courtney. TV is a lot different than sitting behind a laptop. This is where I shine.
COURTNEY
If you ever get tired of being Wilson's mouthpiece, then maybe you can pursue a career.
STEWART
You know if you keep going after him like this Steven Wilson and his family might start to take it personal.
Courtney looks Stewart right in the eyes.
COURTNEY
I couldn't prove the details of Silver Parasol's
(emphasizes)
'Aggressive acquisitions' of rival companies. That doesn't mean I stopped looking.
STEWART
That's usually when you should.
COURTNEY
Usually, my sources don't end up dead. I'm a journalist that never gives up.
STEWART
Life can be a fragile thing Ms. Courtney.
(smiles)
Take care.
Stewart leaves.
COURTNEY
(agitated)
Self-important dickhead.
She removes her CELL PHONE from her pocket and turns it on. She has a FROM SAMUEL.
TEXT: You did great. Want to come over and eat dinner.
COURTNEY
Of course.
YOUNG MAN (O.S)
Ms. Land
Courtney looks up from her phone and sees Officer Tucker, a 23-year-old Officer who loves to be a part of anything regarding the mystery of Fazbears Company. He's BRIGHT EYED, ENTHUSIASTIC and AWKWARD for a young officer.
JAMES
(nervous)
I came down here to meet you.
She looks at him, CONFUSED.
JAMES(CON'T)
I'm Tucker. Tucker Green the new officer in the Utah department.
A flash of RECOGNITION crosses Courtney's eyes.
COURTNEY
Right the one who made videos of having known Stewart on Michael Afton.
(Starts to walk)
I remember now. You claimed your family has a connection with him
Tucker follows her periodically SKIPPING to keep up with her STRIDE.
COURTNEY(CON'T)
Why are you even here, little one?
JAMES
(awkwardly)
I came here because I wanted to ask you questions about the incidents happening around Utah.
Courtney smiles at him.
JAMES(CON'T)
They had to call in all the forces last night for a huge investigation. So, I didn't get time to write questions I had for you.
JAMES looked over when he noticed she was giggling.
COURTNEY
Next time little one.
JAMES
But Ms. Land it's hard to get any time with you. When could I get another chance like this?
COURTNEY
Listen, I'm not here to just find information about the new incidents. I'm a divorced women try to fix my broken family. A family that just needs to see each other as a family again. I'm trying but it will take time. This personal to me, not something I want to express to gain money. I don't want any families to go through what I have been through, and I'm still struggling with.
JAMES
I'm sorry to hear all of that. I won't bother you; I just want the best for all of us Ms. Courtney.
COURTNEY
Don't worry you aren't bothering me. You are just a small person n this world that believes something many see as fiction for publicity. We might need you one day. So, keep your emails open and checked.
JAMES
I will, but what now?
COURTNEY
I'm going home.
JAMES
I could drive you. My car's outside.
COURTNEY
I can get home by myself.
JAMES
I was just asking because it's late and all. You are a journalist saying things about a very powerful company. This is for safety you know.
COURTNEY
I don't need a bodyguard, Tucker. If something happens, then that means I was catching to something.
