First Impressions Don't Always Last

Samantha Curtis is in an arranged marriage with a very handsome rich guy 6 years her senior. On the first meeting, he downright turned the idea down. But circumstances happened and they ended up together with the condition that they shouldn't fall for each other. Can they keep up with it? Hello lovely people! This is my first time writing and I really appreciate it if you can support me and try to give my novel a read. I'll try to publish chapters as regularly as I could! :) P.S. The image I used for my book cover isn't mine. Took it from a free sharing platform and didn't cover the artist's signature.

Putting Things into Order

"Here's your coffee, ma'am!" the girl from the drive thru window handed me my caramel soy latte.

"Thank you!" I replied back then sped back on the road as I took a sip of my coffee. The lights turned red and I promptly stopped. I put the coffee into my cup holder and naturally looked forward when my eyes looked instinctively on the sparkling ring on my hand holding the stirring wheel.

"This thing is way too shiny and sure attracts attention." I said to myself.

I was debating whether to wear it to work today or not. Chace might ask me about it if I don't, considering a made a fuss about it when I thought he wanted to keep our marriage a secret. Although I'm sure I'll be under Mabel's scrutiny along with the others on lunch today if I do.

I decided to go with the second option. I sighed as I made my way to work." Well, eventually people will find out anyways." I thought to myself.

I walked into the office and greeted everyone. Everything seems to be how they usually are. I went to my desk and started on my work.

Lunch time came and as expected, nothing can escape Mabel's eyes.

"Whoah!! What is that?!" as she pointed at the ring.

"Shhh! I don't want to attract any more attention that what you're already giving right now." I hissed.

" Well then, spill it!" she cried with excitement.

"It is, what it is. It stands for what it is you think it stands for." I quipped.

By this time, people at our table already have their full attention to us. Including Brent.

"Yeah. As if you being vague can stop me from bugging you until you give in." she gave me a stern look.

I sighed while rolling my eyes at her." Well, let's just get this over with.Them knowing it wouldn't change the fact that I am indeed, marrying the big boss." I told myself.

"It's Chace." I said.

Mabel opened her mouth so wide as if her jaw could literally drop on the floor.

"Chace as in Mr. Levesque, Chace?!!" she drew in closer excitedly.

The others look at me like I just grew another head.

"Since when?! You were all so quiet I didn't suspect a thing. Ohhh, a boss-secretary type of romance! Did you develop feelings for each other with all those late nights you spend alone in the office?!" Mabel teased.

"But then again, you call him by his middle name, you must be close already even before that." she continued talking as more of a statement than a question.

All eyes are on me as if waiting to confirm everything Mabel said.

"We've known each other since childhood but we didn't personally get to meet until recently because as you all know, he was overseas almost his whole life. Our grandmothers arranged the marriage and I didn't really expect it will push through." I said truthfully.

"That's why the guy is so protective of you." Brent said. "I should've proposed to you right away. But it's ok cause I'll steal you back." he continued confidently.

"As if you stand a chance against a long time established promise. Not to mention we're talking about Andrew Chace Levesque. Oh so dreamy!" Mabel said cutting Brent's fantasies off.

"Oh! I'm so happy for you! Gosh, I will kill to be in the same position as you are in right now!" Mabel turned to me while holding both my hands. Her eyes sparkling with pure joy.

"This is really a thing of pure beauty! You can expect no less from Mr. Levesque. I like that it's heart-shaped too it's like him saying, "I'm giving all my heart to you." Oh so romantic!" Mabel giggled.

" Contrary to what you think, there's actually no hint of romance whatsoever going on between us." I thought to myself. I just smiled to Mabel in reply.

Lunch time is finally over and oh I'm glad about it. Chace's schedule is free from the late afternoon so I suppose that's when we'll meet the wedding planner.

Few minutes later, a curvy blonde came out of the elevator. "Hello. I'm here for Mr. Levesque." she said with a smile.

"Oh, right this way." I said as I smiled back at her. I knocked on Chace's office and opened the door. He's already seated on the couch as if waiting for us.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Levesque. I'm Greta Haselhoff." she said extending her hand to Chace.

"Nice to meet you." Chace replied taking her hand in for a handshake. He motioned her to sit on the accent chair.

"Samantha.." he called guiding me to sit beside him.

"...have you decided on the things you want for the wedding? he asked me.

"I honestly, haven't." I replied.

"Well, that's ok." Greta said. "I brought in some portfolios you can look at to give you some inspiration of how you want your wedding to look like." she continued.

" We can do a church wedding, a beach wedding or perhaps a garden one. You can also choose to do unique ones like underwater, on top of the cliff, near a waterfall..."

"Wow. Being a wedding planner to rich people and A-list celebrities, I'm sure she's handled alot of requests from simple to bizarre ones." I thought to myself.

"I can introduce you to some wedding stylists to coordinate how the whole ambience of the wedding will be." she added snapping me out of my reverie.

My brain is overwhelmed with all these wedding talk. But Greta is really helpful and enthusiastic with all our queries. At the end of it, we settled with a garden wedding.

"Alright. I'll see to it that everything's ready by schedule and you'll have a fabulous wedding at the end of the month!" she said with a smile. She shook both our hands again before heading to the door.

"She will handle all preparations so no need to worry about anything. If there's anything you don't like or want to change, don't hesitate to tell her." Chace said as we were left alone in his office.

"And take the day off tomorrow. Mom wants to have a ladies' day out with you." he continued.

"Oh, okay." I said in response still trying to recover from all the planning we just made.

Eighteen days left before The Day but I still can't fully wrap my head with what's going on. At this rate, I wonder if I'll even have the wedding jitters.
