Chapter 8 I Will Agree To Marry You
Magdalene said,
"Please hold on a sec,let me catch my breath".
Apparently Magdalene has been holding her laughter until now when she could no longer hold it back.
After Magdalene was finally able to control her laughter and speak calmly she took in a deep breath.
Magdalene said,
"Are you being serious right now? You seem convinced that i would say yes to you when i barely know you; i will agree to marry you? About your sexual preference, we all know that you are gay and no body is judging you. Just explain that to your family am positive that they will understand".
...now it was Dean's turn to laugh.
Magdalene said,
"Why are you laughing? Did i say something out of place or is there something on my lips". She asked while pouting her lips.
Dean said,
"Miss Ken, who said i was gay? He asked in a mocking tone.
"So you actually believe what people say about my sexual attraction for men to be true? hahaha.....
"Well i don't blame them, people are always ready to spread rumors".
Magdalene asked,
"So , you are not gay?This was yet another shock for Magdalene.
Dean said,
"Am not,as a matter of fact, i have been in a lot of relationships before but they don't just last for more than 2 weeks. That became an issue to my family, and that is why people tend to believe that I am gay".
Tsk, just because I am not comfortable with the women i have met before doesn't mean that I am gay".
Magdalene.could still not believe her ears
"So you are not gay"?
You just haven't met the right lady yet".
Dean said,
"Yes, it's either they are too clingy or they pretend to be too modest. Trying to get on my good side. I can't actually tell but you seem to be different from the rest of them and that is why I think you can pull this off. Don't worry, you will be paid and treated well as per the contract".
He then hands it over to her.
While Magdalene was still reading the contract she saw a jaw dropping pay at the bottom of it; 10 million dollars.
Dean said,
"After the contract expires you can choose to go back to the company or go anywhere else, its your choice. You also don't have to worry about any scandal from the social media as we would ensure that this secret of ours remains a secret".
"And by who, how many people are involved in this? Magdalene asked.
"The both of us, my Butler Alfred and my Personal assistant Donald",Dean said.
Magdalene said,
"Alright , i agree to everything but under one condition".
Dean asked,
"What is that? Seeming rather curious.
Magdalene said
"My mother died 10 years ago in a ghastly motor accident along Lane A by the country side. All the information i could gather after her death was not helpful at all. I kept posted with the news for days which gradually folded into weeks, gradually the months came and here i am almost 10 years after her death and there is still no news on the accident. I just want to know what really happened to my mother so that i can finally move on".
She didn't realize that tears were already rolling down her cheeks, until Dean took out his handkerchief and handed it over to her.
She didn't know why but she felt that telling this man her problems was the beginning to her solution.
Magdalene said,
"Thank you. Am sorry is just that my mom's death has been a mystery that I badly want to unravel".
Dean said,
"Is okay. I can see that this contract is also personal to you. So i will try my best to dig into your past and find out what happened to your mother while you try to be a good wife.
He chuckled, trying to ease the tense atmosphere.
He reached for his phone and contacted Donald and told him," i want you to check into the police files on an accident almost 10 years now that occured on Lane A around the country side. Keep me posted on any news you find out.
