Eyes

The day dawned quickly.

After Steven came back home, both of them turned to their humanoid appearance. It was something that nobody knew about. A deep dark secret of Kairos and Irosa.

"How was the exam?" Steven asked.

Kairos looked at his exhausted state and told him to take a seat first. "It was great. The questions were easy but I tried to score the average."

Irosa looked at him with eyes filled with confusion and said, "Eh? Kairos, don't tell me you didn't answer 100%"

"If I do that, I will attract too much attention. And judging by your expression, you must've written down all the questions. Right?"

"Hehe.."

"Don't 'hehe' me." 

Kairos looked at his status bar and saw there was a powerful intruder passing through the area. So he was curious and looked through the window. 

[Warning. A powerful opponent is passing by the Host. It's in the radius of 10m of the host's]

But there is nothing?

Suddenly, his eyes looked above following his super instinct and saw a huge island-sized monster passing by. But the people down there didn't notice anything and they were walking casually. 

[The system 'Hive' has failed to measure the monster's level and strength.]

[Warning. Host must not make eye contact and act suspiciously. Pretend if that happens and ignore its call.]

[The host will face death if he fails to pretend]

The island had five pairs of big wings and it had eyes under the body from top to bottom. Its eyes were as big as a ship and its colour was deep red. 

The eyes were constantly moving as if they were keeping an eye on every single person.

After seeing that hellish being, Kairos thought, 'Just what kind of hell are we living in?'

And a huge siren started ringing from everywhere which made Kairos feel a little uncomfortable. So he covered his ears and again looked above. 

A huge eye came down from a red tentacle to see him. The eyes were red as blood and he saw the reflection of his on the polished eyes.

Kairos could hear his warming notification screens popping out of everywhere which eventually blocked his vision but he kept his eyes fixed on the empty.

His throat became dry quickly in fear but he stopped himself from gulping down anything. 

So he said, "Ah… it's my first time seeing a bluebird from so high up. Irosa! Come and check this." 

Irosa jumped from the bed to walk towards the window and then, her legs stopped. 

Kairos looked at her with a fearful smile and said, "What are you doing? Don't you want to see it? It might've passed three buildings already. I can't believe you just missed this opportunity to see a blue bird."

After saying that, he walked into the kitchen and took out some vegetables to cook. The red eye shrunk into a small one to fit through the window and it followed Kairos.

Irosa saw everything but she kept playing games because he could feel her owner's inner thoughts. It was desperately telling her to keep doing everything and ignore the tentacle eyes which were following Kairos from room to room.

She was terrified of it. But death was near so she kept pretending. 

"Irosa? Do you want to eat vegetable pot pie?" Kairos asked.

"Pot pie? Can you add meat to it? I want meat pot pie. Not the vegetable one."

Steven walked into the kitchen and said, "Oh? I really wanted to try your cooking. What are you making?" 

The red eyes looked at Steven and checked its full body and turned back their attention to him. It was curious about him and ready to devour him.

Kairos cut the vegetables into small pieces and also made another batch of meat pot pie for Irosa. 

"Isora, the dinner is ready!" Kairos shouted but his voice broke because of fear. 

The eyes moved closer to his face so much that he could smell it. It was so disgusting that he nearly puked but he kept his cool.

Irosa came inside and saw two more eyes looking at him from very close as if they would eat him in one chomp. But she knew her owner was in grave danger so she took a seat and ate her dinner casually with Kairos and Steven.

The night came so both of them went to bed early. Steven asked them if there was any problem so they answered, "No, we're just tired today. See you tomorrow."

"Oh, okay."

After Steven left, both of them went inside their blankets and hugged each other very tightly. They were scared to death.

There were more eyes than before inside the room so they couldn't shut their eyes for a single second. The eyes were so close to their faces that they could feel the warmth coming from them. 

"Um. Irosa. Your belly is poking my belly.. You've gotten fat."

"Ehh?? What are you talking about? It's your belly that's sticking out. Not mine." 

"Hehehh. You're really soft. I like you."

"I don't like it when you call me fat but I guess I can call it a day. I like your brave and open spirit too." 

The eyes slowly moved away as they kept talking about school and other stuff and slowly, both of them fell asleep. They were so scared that they became quickly exhausted in just 4 hours of enduring the death aura. 

They became sleeping beasts after a long time.
