Helena's confession

The sunlight peeked through the white curtains. Liam slowly opened his hazel eyes. His irises sparkled and that golden colour gave his eyes an unspeakable charming which couldn't be described with words. Evelyn, who was lying beside him, mesmerised at this moment instantly. He truly was a handsome guy. But she couldn't explain the feel, that she felt...It was like...he was a royalty.

"Have you had enough?" His question snapped her out of her reverie. She blushed with embarrassment. "Hmph! So narcissistic! Who was looking at you?" Liam smiled and pinched her cheek. "Liar!" "Who's lying?" "You are a big fat liar. Don't deny it." "Hey, I'm not big and I'm not definitely fat, okay? I'm small and thin...and delicate and innocent." Liam started laughing. Evelyn pouted her lips. "Why are you laughing,ha?" "Nothing, I'm thinking that who's the real narcissistic person here." "Liaaaam!!!..." "Ha ha ha..." At this exact moment Liam's phone started ringing disturbing their quarrel. Liam frowned his eyebrows. Only a few people knew his number. He glanced at the caller's ID. It was Helena. He recalled that in the park, he truly gave his number to her.

"Hello..." "Hello Liam, I'm going to leave Spain today. Before leaving here, I wanna meet you alone, privately. It's an urgent matter. Please come to Misión Café an hour later." With that she hung up the phone before asking his opinion. Liam furrowed slightly. He wasn't a person who followed others orders just because they told him to. Actually he was a quite arrogant person. However it was his childhood friend. Besides she told him that it was an urget matter. So he decided to meet her anyway.

"Who's that?" Evelyn asked curiosly. "It's Helena. I gave her my new number yesterday. That's how she got to know it." "Oh! What did she say?" "She wanted to meet me before leaving Spain." Evelyn nodded her head. "Okay, I think we should leave too." Liam let out a "hmm" sound and pulled her closer to him by her waist. "Where do you want to go this time?" He inquired dotingly. Evelyn's eyes brightened with delightment. "Let's go to Africa." Liam gave her a sideways glance. "Oh,your taste changed? Now you like black men?" Evelyn glared at him. "I won't tease you ever again."She pushed him. Liam tried to coax her. "Look Evelyn, I was joking too. Please don't mind me,okay?" He used his best pleading voice and cupped her tiny face with his strong palms making her to look at him in the eye. "Hmph, that's more like it." Liam sighed with relief. It looked like his girlfriend coaxing skills were pretty good.

"One Cappuccino and a black coffee." Helena told to the waitress who approached their table with a menu. Liam looked at her amusingly. "Wow Heli, you still remember that black coffee is my favourite." Helena gave him a warm smile. "Sometimes our taste and feelings never change even the time passed. We will find and meet many different tastes, flavours, people but our old memories, that feelings will remain unchanged no matter what." She stated looking into his sparkling, golden eyes. She mostly loved his eyes. During the morning, they appeared like golden coins. In the afternoon they looked light brown. In the evening they had amber colour. During the night, they were dark brown and that dark colour just killed her.She had never seen a person like him who could change his eye colour. She experienced it with her own eyes as she stayed at his house for days during their childhood along with Jacob. That days were the best days in her entire life.

Liam felt her words were kind of weird but he couldn't figure it out. He gave her a "Hmm" sound. Helena put her palm on the back side of his hand. "No matter what, I'll always be there with you."She said. Her touch made him feel uncomfortable. Whenever he was with Evelyn, he didn't feel uncomfortable feelings at all even when there were people around him. He sometimes hallucinated that his curse was broken. It seemed like he was wrong. Evelyn must had a superpower that she was immune to his curse. Ofcaurse it was one of his secrets he kept away from his family and Evelyn. Mainly because no one would believe him if he said that a witch cursed him when he was seven years old and that witch was Matilda. He was looking for her for years. Finally he could grab some information through Jacob. It was ray of hope but still he didn't bother to look for her right away. Now he had Evelyn. With her around him, he felt easy to communicate with others.

Liam pulled away his hand from Helena. Her heart instantly broke into pieces. Nonetheless she hid it and gave him a tiny smile before withdrawing her hand. "Liam, you are blinded by Evelyn's love. You can't see anything. You can't see her true colours. She's with you because... because of your money. She's a gold digger god dammit! Don't let that greedy woman hurt you." Helena didn't beat around the bush and uttered straightforwardly.

Liam scoffed. "How do you know, Heli? You don't know her at all. Don't judge a book by its cover. I know her for months and I love her. I know she also love me." Helena's heart ached. 'Why can't you see that I love you too, Liam? Why?' Helena gave a heavy sigh. "She's a psychiatrist Liam. She is with you because she wants to heal you and nothing else. When her job is done, she will leave you. Nope, she will act like she loves you and will betray behind your back making you a cuckold in the future." Liam took a great effort to control his urge of hitting her. She was a woman and he wouldn't hurt a woman as it was one of his morals. But it didn't mean that he would let others insult his fiancée. "Enough Helena! Don't test my patience!" He roared. Helena was startled. Others in the cafe glanced at their side. She felt embarrassed but she wasn't a person who would easily give up. That day she had to convince him no matter what.

"Liam, she learned acting. Her dream was to become an actress. Hence she knows how to act cute and innocent like a pure lotus infront of you. Looks like you have fooled by her already." Liam smirked. "You investigated her?" It was more like a statement than a question. Helena nodded truthfully. Liam leaned back on his chair. "Then here me out clearly. I have investigated her much more earlier than you and I know everything you found about her. Learning acting skills doesn't mean that she will use it for fooling others. She is not that type. Besides you think I'm an idiot who is easily getting fooled by others? Is my IQ that low in your mind?" Helena shook her head. "N...no no." She was at a loss for words.

Liam sighed and put his hand lightly on her shoulder ignoring his inconvenience. "Look Heli, I know as my friend, you are concerned about me alot. But please change your attitude towards Evelyn and accept her. She's a good girl. You will also start liking her." Helena's eyes filled with tears as she looked into his hazel eyes. "How can I, Liam? How can I accept a love rival to be my friend?" Her tears rolled down her cheeks. "What?" Liam blurted out. "What did you mean?" Helena wipped away her tears using the back of her hand. "I love you Liam. I have loved you for many years. I got busy not because of my carrer but you. I have used all my strength and energy to find a cure for your illness. But I failed. When I met you for the first time after many years, what did I see?You have been snatched away from me. You have long forgotten me and already found another woman." Liam shook his head. "No Heli, I never said I loved you and I never behaved like a lover infront of you. You were my childhood friend. I treated you as my friend. I never gave you any false hopes. That's the truth." Helena looked at him deeply with tears in her eyes.

"That means I haven't a chance to pursue you? You want me to forget you?" Liam nodded. "It's the best thing you can do for both of us."

He felt extremely pity towards her. But what should he do? Love can't be forced. Liam patted her head gently and left the cafe. He thought she needed to be alone and needed time to think properly. That's why he left her silently without saying anything further which would break her heart. Helena wiped away her tears with a tissue. Then she laughed evily. "You asked for the hard way, Liam." She took out her phone from her black purse and dialed a number. "Alex, we won't change the plan." Alex gasped. "You couldn't convince him?" "It's none of your goddamn business!" Helena yelled at the phone. "Okay, okay milady. I will do as you say, I will do as you say." Helena hung up the phone and put down it with a loud thud. When she turned to leave, the waitress came with their drinks. "Ma'am your drinks?" Helena threw money on the table. "Use them to wash your toilets." With that she left with long and loud strides.

The waitress: "..."
